A
Welcome
to
inside
Boulder
news
I'm
Natalie
Wood
recent
rainfall
has
brought
some
much-needed
moisture
to
boulder,
but
with
the
return
of
hot
and
dry
weather,
residents
are
asked
to
be
conscious
about
their
water
use.
The
city
of
Boulder
is
requesting
that
water
customers
limit
their
use
when
possible,
especially
for
outdoor
irrigation.
Here
are
some
tips
on
how
you
can
help
minimize
outdoor
water
use
with.
C
The
persistent
hot
and
dry
weather
that
we've
had
over
the
last
few
months.
It's
always
a
good
reminder
to
continue
to
conserve
water.
It
helps
a
safeguard
our
water
system
and
our
water
storage.
So,
although
our
storage
supplies
tell
us
that
we're
not
in
a
drought,
it
still
it's
a
good
measure
to
move
forward
and
conserve
water
as
much
as
we
can
a
lot
of
times.
Customers
think
that
they're
actually
helping
the
grass
better
survive
dry
conditions
when
they
water
every
day,
and
that's
not
always
the
case.
C
In
fact,
when
we
water
less
frequently
deeper,
and
especially
when
we
cycle
through
that
watering,
we
actually
can
improve
the
grasses
ability
to
make
the
grass
more
drought-tolerant
outdoor
water
customers
can
conserve
water
by
reducing
their
irrigation.
So
that
means
they
can
dial
back
control
clocks
if
they
don't
have
a
control
clock
where
they
can
use
the
weather
to
better
irrigate,
we
can
actually
offer
rebates
on
smart
controllers,
as
well
as
match,
precipitation,
rotary
nozzles
combined.
We
in
a
perfect
system.

Parks
and
Recreation
Department
is
excited
for
the
upcoming
boulder
water
conservation.
Fair.
It
not
only
gives
us
an
opportunity
to
showcase
all
the
strides
that
we've
taken
through
our
system
to
conserve
water,
but
it
also
provides
an
educational
opportunity
for
the
public
to
see
it
hands-on,
especially
with
the
turf
plot
gardens
and
the
water-wise
gardens.
We
have
on-site
here
a
program.

Really:
a
win-win
partnership
between
bridge
house
in
the
city
of
Boulder.
What
we
were
able
to
do
was
to
be
able
to
start
with
a
pilot,
privately
fundraise,
to
get
our
crew
out
working
for
the
city
and
really
providing
a
dual
benefit:
giving
homeless.
Folks
an
opportunity
to
get
back
in
the
workforce
start
earning
money
again
start
saving
money
in
order
to
get
out
of
homelessness,
and
it
provided
the
city
of
boulder
with
some
extra
hands
to
really
help
with
the
great
amount
of
work
that
they
have
to
do.

These
guys
are
really
motivated
and
very
dedicated
and
it
sort
of
fits
with
the
Parks
and
Recreation
mission,
because
our
mission
is
about
improving
quality
of
life,
so
we're
not
only
getting
a
benefit
from
the
ready
to
work
crew
as
far
as
some
extra
maintenance
work
and
basic
services
from
them,
we're
also
helping
them
improve
quality
life
and
quality
life
for
our
whole
community.
It's.
A
Bridge
House
based
this
program
on
other
successful
transitional
employment
programs
around
the
country.
The
result
is
reduced,
chronic
joblessness
and
homelessness
and
improved
self-sufficiency.
You
can
get
involved
with
the
ready
to
work
program
by
contracting
them
for
your
company's
maintenance
or
landscaping.
You
can
also
make
a
donation
on
the
bridge
house
website.
A
Vehicle
thefts
are
on
the
rise
in
Boulder
and
police
are
warning
the
public
to
take
precautions.
People
reported
53,
stolen
vehicles
between
january
and
july.
This
year
arise
from
the
46
vehicles
stolen
during
the
same
period
last
year.
Most
of
the
vehicle
thefts
have
several
things
in
common,
including
unlocked
doors
or
open
windows.
Boulder
police,
detective,
Kip,
Uhler,
says
thieves
are
usually
looking
for
an
easy
steal.
I
A
I
Make
it
easy
for
somebody
to
victimize
you
if
you
have
to
leave
them
in
the
car,
lock
them
in
the
trunk,
put
them
under
the
seat
where
they're
not
readily
visible
from
from
somebody
walking
by
report
suspicious
activity?
If
you
see
somebody
coming
down
your
block
and
they
there
they're
trying
car
doors
or
you
see
them
going
through
cars
and
they've
got
a
backpack.
You
see
somebody,
you
don't
recognize
in
your
neighbors
car
and
your
neighbors
car
there's
no
harm
in
calling
us
we'd
rather
have
an
opportunity
to
contact
those
individuals.
A
Far
this
year,
boulder
police
have
made
13
arrests
for
auto
theft
and
recovered
eighty-one
percent
of
stolen
vehicles.
However,
many
of
the
recovered
vehicles
were
so
severely
damaged
that
they
were
undriveable.
Police
are
asked
the
public
to
report
stolen
vehicles
or
suspicious
activity
to
911
emergency
dispatch.
