A
Hi,
my
name
is
torie
Kronos
and
I'm.
The
real
estate
division
manager
for
the
City
of
Charlotte.
Today,
I
would
like
to
give
you
an
overview
of
the
work
that
my
team
in
real
estate
is
responsible
for
and
accountable
to
do.
This
overview
is
important
to
you,
because
the
product
of
the
work
appears
on
every
council
agenda
under
the
property
transaction
section
I
can
outline
and
summarize
the
work
into
two
different
areas.
The
first
one
is
right-of-way
acquisition
for
public
infrastructure
and
projects.
A
These
projects
will
vary
from
transit
projects
like
the
light,
rail
and
installation
for
an
up
sizing
of
a
sewer
system,
stormwater
system
or
a
sidewalk
project.
The
second
area
is
a
strategic
portfolio,
management
of
all
city,
real
estate
asset
land
and
buildings,
to
meet
city
council
priorities
and
objectives.
A
There
is
a
legal
timeline
that
dictates
the
process.
So
even
though
the
city
will
file
the
condemnation
process
with
the
court
within
six
week
of
council
approval,
negotiation
continues,
was
property
owner
property
owner
will
have
one
year
to
file
a
legal
spa
and
two
years
for
trial
to
begin
again,
the
process
is
in
place
to
protect
the
interests
of
the
property
owner
for
fair
and
just
compensation
and
safeguard
the
taxpayers
fund.
The
second
area
of
our
work,
as
I
mentioned,
is
the
portfolio
management
work.
A
City
real
estate
has
worked
to
his
council
in
June
of
2017
to
establish
a
comprehensive
city-owned,
real
estate
and
facilities
management
policy.
The
city
owns
nine
hundred
and
forty
three
parcels
with
a
total
of
about
five
thousand
acres
of
land.
Many
of
these
parcels
are
utilized
for
public
infrastructure.
A
However,
there
are
surplus
or
excess
land
that
the
city
will
utilize
to
meet
city
council
goals
and
objectives.
Some
of
these
goals
like
affordable
housing,
public
safety
for
fire
and
police,
as
well
as
economic
development.
The
city
also
is
a
landlord
and
a
tenant
in
many
buildings.
As
a
result,
many
of
these
leaves
renewal
agreements
come
in
front
of
Council
for
approval.
The
city
also
buy
land
for
police
stations,
fire
stations
and
any
other
department
within
the
city
to
meet
operational
needs
for
different
departments.
