Description
You are watching the Graduation Ceremony from from CMPD's 184th Recruit Class. Thanks for joining us!
A
I
am
Jackie
Briley,
captain
of
the
training
and
recruitment.
Here
at
the
academy,
we
welcome
you
to
the
graduation
ceremony
of
the
Charlotte
Mecklenburg
Police
Department's
184,
recruit
class,
we're
happy
to
have
you
joining
us
virtually
as
we
celebrate
this
special
day.
We
welcome
the
family,
loved
ones
and
friends
of
this
recruit
class.
Thank
you
to
our
many
community
partners,
the
citizens
for
your
continued
support
of
our
organization,
we're
here
to
recognize
what
this
group
of
women
and
men
have
accomplished
over
the
last
six
months
and
what
is
truly
a
very
proud
moment
for
us.
A
D
B
B
E
Let
us
pray
for
Eternal
Father,
our
Creator.
He
who
was
an
is
to
come.
We
are
thankful
for
the
grace
you've
given
us
during
these
times
and
forevermore
to
be
where
we
are
and
doing
what
we've
called
to
do.
We
ask
your
special
grace
upon
our
country
upon
our
state
in
our
city
during
these
times
we're
thankful
for
these
brave
men
and
women
who
have
gone
through
the
journey
to
serve.
We
thank
you
for
our
leadership.
We
ask
your
blessings
upon
this
occasion
upon
everyone
in
our
CMP
family
and
in
the
City
of
Charlotte.
E
F
At
this
point,
you'd
say
good
morning:
all
right:
do
you
have
to
bear
with
me
I'm
not
used
to
doing
things
virtually
I'm
warbler
face-to-face
kind
of
person,
but
I
do
want
to
welcome
all
the
family
members
all
of
our
guests
and
congratulations
to
the
184th
recruit
class.
We
just
shared
a
word
I,
just
shared
a
word
with
them
and
I
told
them
a
few
things
that
I
always
tell
every
class
mainly
I
want
to
thank
the
families,
because
you
made
them
good
people.
You
gave
them
good
character
to
our
training
staff.
F
F
These
are
very
challenging
times
and
you
can't
help
but
respect
the
38
individuals.
We're
gonna
step
forward,
join
the
Charlotte
Mecklenburg
Police
Department's
family
and
serve
this
great
city
serving
at
a
time
that
the
city
needs
us
most
I
also
told
them.
Remember
this
day,
the
excitement,
the
shiny
badges,
the
shiny
shoes,
the
joy
and
also
the
courage
they
face
many
challenges
getting
to
this
point
today,
where
they're
gonna
become
full-fledged
police
officers,
but
their
journey
is
not
done.
F
I
wish
I
could
say
their
challenges
aren't
done,
but
what
I
know
is
the
journey
and
the
challenge
they're
prepared
for
otherwise
they
wouldn't
be
here
today
about
to
join
our
ranks
as
full-fledged
officers
to
the
families.
Once
again,
I
want
to
congratulate
you
because
you've
grown
by
about
2,500
additional
members
today,
all
of
us
are
proud,
as
you
should
be,
of
the
accomplishments.
So
far
of
these
new
38
to
the
City
of
Charlotte,
you
should
take
comfort
that,
even
in
our
most
challenging
times,
we
have
38
heroes.
G
All
right
good
morning,
my
name
is
recruit.
Van,
Deventer
and
I
was
elected.
The
cost
president
of
the
184th
and
this
next
video
we're
about
to
show
you
is
going
to
be
kind
of
a
glimpse
into
what
we
US
38
have
been
through
through
the
past
six
months
and
it
kind
of
shows
our
ups,
our
downs,
but
our
constant
team
work
together.
So
no
further
ado,
here's
the
class
184th
video.
G
You
all
are
the
reason
that
we're
here
and
the
reason
that
most
of
us
pushed
ourselves
to
come
to
this
and
also
to
push
ourselves
through
this.
So
from
day
one
we
could
say,
class
81
184
has
had
some
struggles.
We
had
some
people
late
on
day,
two
and
day
three,
which
caused
us
to
be
out
in
the
hallway
doing,
push-ups
and
in
front
leaning.
Rest
we
had
show
goes
with
the
first
PT
session.
We
had
people
sitting
out
of
that
one
because
it
was
really
tough.
G
We
had
people
forget
belt
buckles
and
when
officers
asked
them,
if
they
were
even
wearing
their
belt
buckle,
they
said
no
and
then
realized
they
weren't
wearing
it.
We
some
people
use
their
own
tie
for
the
uniform,
even
though
we
have
a
specific
time
we
have
to
use.
We
had
people
forget
to
say
good
morning
to
a
sergeant
that
was
on
me,
so
we
a
were
in
front
leading
rest
for
that
one
as
well.
We
had
people
forget
guns
on
range
day.
G
Don't
really
know
how
that
happens,
but
it
did
people
not
shave
for
the
men,
not
the
women,
obviously
failed
tests
and
then
trying
to
kind
of
figure
out
hey.
How
are
we
supposed
to
take
a
shower
in
ten
minutes
after
we
just
did
an
hour
of
PT.
It
was
difficult,
but
we
figured
it
out
through
all
this,
though
we
state,
one
thing
was
really
constant.
With
my
class
in
general,
is
we
fought
for
each
other?
G
G
So
I
personally
want
to
thank
my
class
184
teammates
for
pushing
me
and
allowing
me
to
lead
them
through
these
past
six
months
and
I
would
I
would
not
have
wanted
to
do
this
Academy
or
anything
else
without
the
group
of
80
or
the
group
of
38
people
that
we
have
with
me
today,
they've
become
my
family
and
I'm
honored
to
be
out
there
serving
and
protecting
with
them
after
today.
Thank
you.
H
Good
morning
my
name
is
Shane
Edmonds
and
has
been
my
pleasure
to
serve
as
the
recruit
training
sergeant
for
the
184th
recruit
class.
I
want
to
thank
the
families
for
all
the
support
you
have
given
your
loved
ones
over
the
past
six
months.
I
also
want
you
to
know,
as
chief
Putney
said
a
few
minutes
ago,
that
their
training
isn't
over
I
think
that's
important
for
all
the
loved
ones
out
there
to
know
that
after
today,
they
will
report
to
their
divisions
to
begin
their
next
phase
of
training.
H
During
this
time
they
will
respond
to
9-1-1
calls
with
a
police
training
officer
to
watching
God
there
every
step
they
will
have
a
division
of
brothers
and
sisters,
helping
to
teach
them
how
to
reach
their
goal
of
becoming
an
officer
worthy
of
wearing
the
badge,
but
that
starts
tomorrow.
Today
we
want
to
celebrate
each
one
of
our
recruits
and
all
that
they
have
accomplished
during
their
time.
Here.
At
the
academy,
there
were
four
main
areas
of
focus:
academics,
physical,
fitness,
driving
and
firearms.
H
This
morning
we
would
like
to
recognize
the
recruits
that
have
excelled
in
these
specific
areas
of
training.
The
academic
award
this
award
goes
to
the
recruit
with
the
highest
average
through
all
35
exams.
The
184th
recruit
class
academic
award
winner
with
an
overall
average
of
90
5.37.
His
recruit
Nicholas
Chism.
H
The
physical
fitness
award
after
many
weeks
of
strenuous
physical
fitness
training,
the
recruits
must
perform
the
police
officers,
physical
abilities
test
and
the
Cooper
fitness
test.
These
tests
involve
running
weightlifting,
vertical
jump,
push-ups
sit-ups
and
an
obstacle
course
to
give
an
overall
fitness
level.
The
184th
recruit
class
fiscal
war.
Physical
fitness
award
goes
to
recruit
bradley
topper.
H
The
driving
award
the
recruits
received
approximately
60
hours
of
driver's
training.
At
the
completion
of
this
training.
The
recruits
must
successfully
navigate
seven
driving
courses.
The
184th
recruit
class
driving
award
winner
with
an
average
of
90
7.57
fruit
class
firearms
award
winner
with
an
average
of
99.9,
is
recruit,
Samuel
globe.
H
H
H
H
A
I
You
are
here
to
serve
and
protect
honor
those
who
came
before
you,
this
patch
means
you
belong
to
a
family,
a
family
that
understands
the
days
that
nearly
break
you
and
the
days
that
make
you
there's
no
other
badge
like
this
one
wear
it
with
pride
and
to
those
who
see
you
with
it.
Let
them
know
it's
the
heartbeat
that
keeps
this
suit.

Q
It's
being
able
to
be
involved
in
the
graduation
of
a
recruit
class
today,
in
these
very
difficult
times,
I
won't
be
there
with
you
physically,
but
I'm
there
with
you,
it's
important
for
you
to
know
that
at
the
highest
level
of
this
organization
you
are
special
and
you're
special,
not
only
today,
but
in
these
special
times
we
appreciate
all
that
you've
done
and
all
that
you
will
do
to
keep
us
safe.
So,
while
I
can't
be
there
today
because
of
social
distancing
and
the
crisis
that
we
have
right
now,
I
won't
I'm
there
in
spirit.
