Description

Law Enforcement Officers are frequently front-line responders to persons in crisis with a serious mental illness. In an effort to better prepare officers to respond to these individuals, CMPD is training with the Crisis Intervention Team, CIT.
CIT is a community-based collaboration between law enforcement, local National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), mental health consumers, mental health providers, community colleges and law enforcement training centers.
CMPD's finest are better equipped to serve our community by providing appropriate care, for a crisis involving persons with a mental Illness.

Did you know one in four adults may have a mental disorder? Mental illness is more common than you may think.

Naturally, that's recognized as a really bad problem, because people who have mental illness are more likely to be arrested than somebody who doesn't they're more likely to have serious charges. They have problems adjusting when they get there and all of the regular responses to problem behaviors that happen within the correctional system tend to make symptoms. Worse.

The crisis intervention team is a group of local agencies partnering with one common goal: learning to identify mental illness in a crisis situation and keeping them out of jail by providing the appropriate assistance. We'll go over with what happened with today, because you didn't do officers.

If you can translate for us, we hate those who insist, we appreciate it or be able to refer that individual or a family member responsible for that individual to an outside agency officers.

Are equipped and are striving to better handle delicate situations with those who have a mental illness and continually trained to enhance their skills in providing safety to everyone in our community? That's.

What our goal is: it's ditch to help it's the real Public Safety goal, and this is a very special population that deserves special attention.
