A
Oh
good
morning,
I'm
Rob
Tufano,
with
the
Public
Affairs
Office,
with
the
Charlotte
Mecklenburg
Police
Department
look
weak
I
mean
what
a
presence
right,
what
a
turnout
on
such
an
important
event
45
years
in
the
making
some
of
the
distinguished
gentlemen
that
you
see
behind
me
here
very
much
part
of
that
history.
Today.
C
D
I
must
have
been
one
of
the
luckiest
guys
in
the
police
department,
because
then
I
started.
1967
and
I
was
on
the
default
for
about
four
years
when
they
started
aviation
unit
in
1971
and
with
a
little
bit
of
fixed-wing
experience.
I
was
selected
along
with
four
other
people
to
be
the
original
aviation
unit
for
the
Charlotte
Police
Department
and
I've
flown
all
the
aircraft
that
the
police
departments
had
so
I.
C
Because
the
the
name
was
Snoopy,
then
obviously
the
logic
behind
that
was
the
this,
the
dog
house,
so
every
time
that
we
come
in
and
out
the
airport
it
is
referred
to
as
Snoopy
is
inbounded
the
dog
house,
this
building
right
here
we
built
this
to
accommodate
these
these
aircraft,
in
which
we
in
1997,
we
retired
that
Jet
Ranger
and
purchased
this
aircraft.
This
very
aircraft
you
see
set
behind
us,
let's
purchase
new,
typically.
E
We'll
respond
to
car,
chases,
foot,
chases,
missing-persons,
robberies
and
burglaries.
Those
are
the
big
calls
that
we
respond
to
usually
those
progressed
other
than
the
the
car
chases
they'll
progress
and
the
missing
person,
searches,
they'll
progress.
As
far
as
the
timeframe
we
get
there
within
six
or
seven
minutes.
Usually
we
start
an
orbit
to
contain
the
suspect.
We
start
a
search
we
while
we're
looking
for
the
suspect,
we'll
help
set
cars
on
a
perimeter
if
they
need
our
help
to
try
and
contain
the
suspect
we
work
with
all
city
agencies.
You
know
we
do.
E
F
Extremely
gratifying
I'm
proud
to
be
part
of
this
and
I'm
proud
to
showcase
what
the
work
they
do
and
how
they
do
it
and
they
do
it
every
day.
They've
become
a
symbol
of
the
city,
a
lot
of
times,
I've
read
articles
and
other
magazines
that
highlights
new
people.
How
I'd
Snoopy
is
a
symbol
of
Charlotte
as
a
symbol
of
the
community,
the
protection
and
the
overwatch
that
they
provide
not
only
officers
that
work
throughout
this
county,
but
the
community
as
a
whole.
