A
All
right
we've
got
a
couple
of
presentations
today,
but
we're
going
to
start
with
a
report
from
our
recorders
court
oversight.
Committee,
chair,
councilor,
Thomas
I
should
have
just
left
you
all
and
shouldn't
I
sorry
about
that.
B
Thank
you,
Mr
Mayor,
the
council
appointed
a
couple
of
years
ago,
an
oversight
committee
for
the
recorders
court
functions
and
that
committee
is
Mayor,
Pro,
Tim,
Allen,
councilor
Barnes
and
myself
as
we
looked
at
the
recorders
court
and
what
the
things
that
were
happening
in
recorders
court
right
now
and
the
fact
that
judge
Hunter,
who
is
the
current
senior
recorder,
has
told
us
that
he
is
going
to
retire.
At
the
end
of
this
month
we
advertise
the
position
and
we
came
up
with.
B
We
got
several
very
outstanding
candidates
for
the
position
in
Recorder's
court
and,
as
the
committee
talked
with
these
candidates,
each
one
of
them
had
looked
at
Recorder's
court
and
and
had
very
good
suggestions
to
the
committee
for
how
to
improve
the
service
that
we
do
in
Recorder's
court
and
when
we
were
through
with
our
interviews
these
folks
just
knock
our
socks
off.
I
tell
you
they
were
it
was.
B
It
was
just
a
dramatic
difference
in
some
of
the
interviews
I've
done
in
the
past,
but
we,
as
the
oversight
committee,
decided
to
make
some
changes
in
the
Recorder's
Court
function
and
the
way
that
the
recorders
court
functioned.
We
are
still
going
to
have
a
senior
recorder,
who
will
be
mainly
in
who
will
not
only
be
a
recorder
and
whole
court,
but
will
also
do
the
administrative
piece
recorders
court.
B
And
then
we
wanted
to
propose
to
you
and
ask
you,
which
is
part
of
this
resolution,
that
the
City
attorney
has
provided
to
a
point
two
additional
full-time
recorders,
so
that
we
will
have
a
senior
recorder
and
two
full-time
recorders
which
translates
into
recorders
court
full-time
sessions
three
at
any
at
all
given
times,
and
we
think
that
will
not
only
help
to
move
cases
through
Recorder's
court.
But
it
will
also
give
us
a
a
better
look
at
what's
going
on
and
so
Mr
Mayor.
B
On
behalf
of
the
recorders
court
oversight,
committee,
I
would
like
to
propose
adoption
on
number
five
on
the
city
attorney's
agenda,
which
names
as
the
senior
judge,
Mr
David
Ranieri,
who
names
as
one
of
those
full-time
judges,
Miss
Susan,
Henderson
and
who
names
as
the
other
one
Mr
Alonso
Whitaker,
and
on
behalf
of
the
committee
I
make
that
motion.
B
A
Turn
my
light
on
hearing
none
I
will
ask
for
all
those
in
favor
to
please
say:
aye
aye
any
opposed
that
passes.
B
And
Mr
Mayor,
those
three
folks
are
here
and
I've
asked
them
if
they
would
come
to
the
podium
and
be
introduced
to
you
and
to
our
community
and
if
they
have
something
to
say
short
and
sweet,
we
would.
We
would
entertain
that
at
this
time
and.
A
C
D
And
I
do
want
to
just
take
a
moment.
I
have
been
down
to
Recorder's
court
for
a
few
days
now
sitting
and
just
watching
and
observing
and
I
just
want
to
give
some
thanks
to
judge
Julius
Hunter.
He
spent
a
dedicated,
Public
Service
servant
for
years
to
this
city.
He
treats
everyone
with
kindness
and
respect
and
I
truly
admire.
That
and
I
know
that
we
will
emulate
that
in
that
respect.
But
thank
you
all
very
much
for
your
confidence
us
and
we
look
forward
to
serving.
C
I
too,
would
like
to
thank
the
counselors,
and
particularly
the
committee
for
their
faith
and
confidence
in
me
and
giving
me
this
opportunity.
It
really
means
a
lot
I
too
Echo.
The
sentiments
towards
judge
Hunter
I've
had
the
honor
of
working
with
him
for
the
past
four
years
and
the
capacity
as
a
pro
tem
judge
in
Recorder's
court.
So
he
will
be
missed
and
he
is
appreciated
and
I.
Thank
you
again
for
the
opportunity,
foreign.
E
Thank
you,
I
too
Echo
the
same
sentiments
regarding
judge
Hunter
and
the
committee
I
feel
that
recorders
court
is
one
of
the
most
important
quotes.
There
is
because
that's
where
many
times
defendants
be
accused
rather
and
their
family
have
contact
with
the
system
and
first
impressions
means
a
lot
I
think
the
three
of
us
will
help
that
impression,
with
the
help
of
council
and
with
law
enforcement.
E
F
F
That
court
is
very
important.
The
charter
review
commission
just
looked
at
it
recently
and
made
a
couple
of
tweaks
and
I
think
this
is
going
to
be
a
model
for
the
state
of
Georgia.
The
system
that
we're
putting
in
place
here,
but
appreciate
all
that
you're
going
to
do
and
appreciate
it
publicly
judge
Hunter
for
his
service
in
the
past.
Thank.
A
Y'all
and
I
want
to
add
my
thanks
to
the
committee,
because
this
was
a
unique
approach
to
this
and
it,
and
it
shows
that
the
the
peoples
who
sat
and
represented
Council
on
that
oversight
committee
really
were
looking
for
the
most
efficient,
most
professional
and
most
successful
way
to
operate.
That
Court.
Clearly.
F
B
And
Mr
Mayor,
if
I
may,
to
the
to
the
judges,
if
you
would
work
with
the
Mr
city
manager
and
his
staff,
the
HR
staff
and
deputy
director
Deputy
manager,
Pam
Hodge,
who
does
facilities
and
so
forth,
they
can
help
you
dot
all
those
eyes
and
cross
all
those
things
that
need
to
be
done.
That
for
that-
and
we
are
just
I
I-
have
to
tell
you
that
as
I
was
talking
to
various
people
in
confidence
about
who
we
were
going
to
appoint
and
I
said:
David
Ranieri,
Susan,
Henderson,
Alonzo
Whitaker.
B
A
And
we
will
Ask
Judge
Hunter
if
he
has
time
to
come
in
the
new
year
and
we'll
have
a
proclamation
ready
for
him.
That
seems
such
a
trivial.
Thank
you
for
somebody
that
has
done
such
an
incredible
job
for
so
many
years
for
this
city,
but
we
will.
We
will
make
sure
that
we
would
do
that.
Madam
Clerk.
A
Thank
you,
ma'am
Mr,
C,.
G
A
G
You
Mr
bearing
good
morning
I
I,
want
to
join
in
congratulating
and
saying
welcome
to
each
of
these
new
judges
and
I.
Thank
the
committee
for
this
creative
Innovative
approach.
G
I
think
is
going
to
be
good
for
Recorder's
court
and
it's
going
to
be
good
for
city
government
and
my
office
will
be
in
touch
with
with
these
judges
to
we.
We
like
to
try
and
meet
with
the
judges,
especially
the
chief
judge,
and
go
over
the
existing
the
budget
as
it
stands
right
now.
The
budget
process,
how
it
all
works
and
talk
about
office,
space
and
and
all
of
the
other
things
that
you
will
be
looking
for
as
you
go
into
your
new
roles,
so
my
office
will
be
in
touch
with
with
you.
