A
A
Welcome
to
columbus
connections.
I
am
your
host
david
britt
and
it
is
football
season
as
we're
taping
right
now.
Georgia
is
about
to
play
alabama
in
the
sec
championship
and
georgia
got
a
good
chance
to
win
this
year,
but
we're
not
here
to
talk
about
that.
We
are
here
to
talk
about
the
14th
annual
sports
vision,
high
school
football
awards,
luncheon
presented
by
affleck.
It
is
okay,
look
we
have
a
lot
of
great
talent
in
this
area,
but
there
are
certain
people
who
are
responsible
for
helping
that
talent
get
to
the
next
level.
A
If
you
know
anything
about
football,
you
know
that
somebody
that
has
football
skill
people
are
all
over
them.
People
want
to
coach
them.
People
talk
about
their
heyday
back
in
the
day,
but
there
are
some
people
who
are
really
helping
them
get
to
where
they
need
to
be,
and
my
guest
is,
if
not
one
of
those
people
that
person
he's
a
former
football
player
himself,
he's
also
big
in
media,
in
columbus
as
well,
so
he's
covering
all
the
bases
he's
going
to
talk
about
this
great
event
and
what
it
does
and
who
it's
helping.
B
A
Now,
as
I
was
saying
this,
this
event
is
so
big
because
we
have
so
much
sports
talent,
as
you
know
yourself,
in
columbus,
but
not
everybody's,
clear
on
how
to
get
to
that
next
level,
not
everybody's
clear
on
it's
somewhat.
It's
an
awards
luncheon,
so
it
recognizes
all
of
these
great
athletes,
but
then
it
does
something
else
too.
Talk
about
that.
B
Well,
first
of
all,
I'm
honored
to
have
the
opportunity.
Dale
williams
and
myself
started
sports
divisions
back
in
2004..
We
realized
that
when
we
were
growing
up
here
in
the
community,
we're
there
a
plethora
of
organizations
that
honored
us.
We
played
high
school
football
here,
and
you
know
there
was
a
newspaper.
There
were
several
organizations
losers
and
liars.
The
kiwanis
club
wlks
used
to
get
player
of
the
week
coca-cola
used
to
give
honor
the
golden
helmet
award,
which
was
the
most
valuable
players.
B
It
was
just
a
lot
of
different
organizations
that
really
contributed
to
our
success
and
commended
us
on
that.
We've
realized
dale
and
I
and
when
we
went
into
business
in
2004,
all
of
that
had
dried
up
and
gone
away
and
you
know,
but
we
knew
how
essential
it
was
to
our
upbringing
and
again,
it's
always
great
for
folks
to
patch
you
on
the
back
and
to
be
able
to
go
to
a
nice
luncheon
or
a
banquet.
Get
an
award,
and
you
know
for
people
to
to
you
know
make
you
feel
good
about
yourself.
B
So
we
started
the
annual
sports
divisions.
High
school
football
awards
lunch
and
we
are
now
up
to
our
14th
year
and,
of
course,
I'm
proud
to
say
it's
presented
by
aflac
this
year
and
again
over
50
of
the
top
high
school
football
players
in
east
alabama
and
west
central
georgia
to
the
tune
of
about
27
schools
this
year.
What
we're
we're,
adding
we're,
adding
middle
schoolers,
because
again,
these
young
men
are
so
impressionable
in
everything
that
we're
doing
and
they're,
seeing
some
of
the
guys
that
they
they
admire
in
high
school.
B
A
B
They
put
in
a
lot
of
time
a
lot
of
hard
work
and
you
know
it
just
made
sense.
Dr
l
was
a
good
friend
and
colleague
of
mine.
He
marcus
edwards
suggested
it
and
he
thought
maybe
it
would
be
a
good
idea
to
do
next
year,
but
you
know
again,
you
know
me,
I'm
a
risk
taker,
I'm
a
go-getter,
I
said:
well,
we
don't
have
to
wait
the
next
year.
You
know
this.
Is
ours,
let's
go
ahead
and
do
it
now
and
fortunate
enough.
B
He
was
able
to
contact
all
the
coaches
and
the
ads
and
get
all
the
players
that
we
needed
from
15
middle
schools.
So
we
got
15
in
addition
to
last
year
we
and
several
years
back,
we
started
on
behalf
of
tim
walton,
with
his
stay
ready
foundation,
honoring,
the
hot
top
middle
school
high
school
coach.
B
And
of
course,
we
had
another
company
that
represented
the
the
award
that
recognized
the
top
middle
school
player,
but
pleased
that
we
all
have
an
opportunity
to
add
15
players
and
15
middle
school
coaches
and
looking
forward
to
it.
A
B
Well,
we
got
a
guy
that
only
he's
only
been
here
three
times
he
came
in
2015
2018
and
he's
just
the
greatest
coach
that
they
ever
lived.
His
name
is
nick
saban,
yeah.
B
Sec
champion
seven-time,
national
championship,
coach
and
I'll.
Tell
you
what
it's
a
thrill
for
these
young
athletes
and
coaches
to
have
the
opportunity
and
sponsors
some
grown
folks
in
that
building
the
big
football
fan
and
follow
nick
saban
as
well,
but
we're
very
fortunate
and
blessed
to
have
a
situation
that
we
put
together
an
event
that
attract
those
top
caliber
coaches.
B
Because
again
this,
like,
I
said
coach
saban's
third
time
coming
here,
we've
tracked
attracted
kirby
smart,
who
he
will
be
playing
on
saturday
as
well
as
dabo
swinney
mark
rick
started
it
out
back
in
2012
and
we
were
up
at
the
hilton
garden
inn.
The
150-seater
little
ballroom
there
and
mark
was
recruiting
some
players
in
the
areas
like
isaiah,
crowell
and
jordan
jenkins,
and
he
asked
me
he
said
hey.
B
B
Kevin
butler
one
of
my
former
teammates
was
the
very
first
speaker,
followed
by
david
greene,
as
well
as
brenton
buckner
and
the
likes
of
steve,
wallace
and,
and
it
goes
on
and
on
and
on
then,
until
mark
rick
decided
that
he
was
gonna
shake
it
up
a
little
bit
and
then
that
when
you
know
how
coaches
do
when
one
sees
what
works
for
something-
and
he
says:
okay,
I'm
at
one
spot
with
50
or
60
of
the
top
football
player
high
school
football
players
in
this
area.
B
A
I'd
imagine
that
it
gives
high
school
players
and
and
middle
school
players
something
to
shoot,
for
they
want
to
be
in
that
room.
They
want
to
hear
from
that
coach.
They
want
to
be,
especially
with
this
being
the
14th.
Yes,
you've
got
people
that
have
gone
on
and
grown
up
that
have
been
through
this.
So
what
does
it
mean
for
folks
in
this
in
this
area?
Those
young
athletes
to
be
able
to
make
it
to
this?
This?
This
awards
lunch
well.
B
There's,
of
course
we
have
it
at
the
saint
luke
ministry
center,
which
is
a
wonderful
facility,
great
food,
great
service,
and
you
know
they
get
to
flash
and
shine
in
front
of
the
media
and,
of
course,
some
of
the
corporate
our
corporate
partners
that
who
helped
make
it
necessary
make
it
possible
for
us
to
do
this,
so
I
can
only
imagine
how
they
were
feeling.
I
remember
reflecting
back
to
my
time
here
and,
of
course,
when
I
was
in
high
school
being
honored,
you
know
it
just
made
me.
A
B
Going
to
be
thursday
december,
the
9th
at
11
30
a.m.
At
the
at
saint
luke
ministries,
centers,
that's
301,
11th
street
downtown
columbus,
not.
B
Well,
you
know,
over
the
14
years
we've
been
very
fortunate
to
have
you
know
dozens
and
dozens
and
dozens
of
kids
to
have
opportunity
to
go
off
and
and
get
a
free
education.
This
is
you
know
from
hbcus
to
to
to
d1s
your
power
fives
again
acc
sec.
I
mean
it's
been
like
I
said,
a
plethora
of
young
men
and
ghosts.
B
B
First
of
all,
we
have
a
a
number
of
awards
that
we
give
well.
Actually
we
have
two
players
from
each
school:
the
27
high
schools.
Okay,
we
ask
the
coach
to
nominate
his
best
offensive
player
and
his
best
defensive
player,
and
with
that
said,
that's
automatically
two.
Those
are
the
players
that
are
being
recorded.
So
we
have,
though,
that
oh,
that's
where
we
get
over
over
50.
B
and
then
we
have
anywhere
from
12
to
15
specialty
awards
that
our
sponsors
make
possible
and
that
could
be
the
academic
award
or
the
leadership
award
outstanding,
offensive
player,
outstanding
defensive
player,
special
teams
player,
and
then
we
just
put
the
corporate
sponsor's
name
on
the
front
of
it
because
they
they
sponsor
those
awards.
And
I
tell
you
it's
it's
a
great
great
thing,
because
again
these
young
men,
not
only
do
they
get
the
awards,
but
they
also
get
introduced
to
the
afflecks
of
the
worlds.
B
And
again,
when
you
talk
about
the
mercedes-benz
of
the
world
and
and
again
the
dr
jamie
winchester's
of
the
world
and
the
stay
ready
foundation
which
tim
walton,
one
of
our
natives
who's
coaching
in
the
nfl
right
now
again,
these
are
the
folks
that
sponsor
these
awards-
and
then
these
kids
become,
you
know
they
realize
and
identify
with
those
names
real
early.
A
Yeah
now
you
guys
have
been
doing
this
14
years
and
we'd
be
remiss
if
we
didn't
mention.
Also.
Your
partner
has
been
very
instrumental
in
this,
mr
dale
williams.
Now
what
has
it
been
like
because
you
guys
have
gone
through
the
awards
being
on
espn?
Having
shows
you
guys
have
really
been
staples
in
this
community
as
far
as
the
sports
world?
What
is
it
like?
What
is
it
as
you?
All's
partnership
meant
well.
B
I
tell
you
what
man
that's
probably
a.
It
was
a
great
great
opportunity
for
us
to
develop
something
here
in
columbus,
georgia,
something
that
we
built
from
the
ground
up.
We
both
had
an
opportunity
to
grow
up
in
this
community
university
states
by
the
way
and
then
but
we
we
were
next
door
neighbors
and
to
know
that
you
have
an
opportunity
to
not
only
do
something
good
in
the
community
with
your
best
friend,
he
becomes
a
partner.
As
I
said
17
years
ago,
this
year
was
the
17th
year.
B
In
august,
we
were
celebrating
that
we
started
sports
visions
and,
of
course,
with
regards
to
the
luncheons
and
again
with
the
radio
show
the
tv
show
and
the
magazine
that
we
have
but
again
for
those
folks
who
don't
know
dale
contracted
covert
almost
a
year
ago,
which
was
december,
the
21st
of
2020
and
2021
and
went
in
the
hospital
had
double
pneumonia
put
him
on
the
ventilator.
B
While
he
was
on
the
ventilator,
he
had
a
stroke
and
again
he
got
over
that
then
over
the
covet
and
the
double
pneumonia
and
they
took
the
ventilator
out
and
found
out
that
they
had.
B
He
was
immobile
on
his
left
side
as
a
result
as
a
result
of
the
stroke,
and
he
has
been
bedridden
ever
since
they
got
out
of
the
hospital
he
went
home
been
home
with
this
loving
family
and,
of
course,
the
support
system
that
he
had
there,
but
again
that
left
side
just
never
responded
in
a
way
that
obviously
got
him
up
and
going
so
most
recently
he
had
his
kidneys
one
of
his
kidneys
removed,
oh
wow,
and
he
is
actually
just
was
released
from
the
hospital.
B
Then
of
course
the
the
the
real
thing
that
I
love
to
do,
and
this
is
my
humble
opinion
I
would
love
to
have
him
in
the
shepherd
spinal
center
or
in
warm
springs,
but
we've
had
a
overwhelming
show
of
support.
He
has
a
gofundme
page
that
people
have
been
really
really
generous
and
again,
you
know
when
you
talk
about
a
situation.
Not
only
you
know
is
he
he
he's
lost
his
physical
capability,
but
he
can't
he
doesn't
have
any
earning
power.
B
He's
not
you
know,
he's
lost,
he
can't
work,
and
you
know
the
medical
bills
pile
up.
So,
whoever
and
every
if
you're
out
there
you
know,
in
addition
to
praying
for
him,
please
consider
donating
to
his
gofundme
page
contacting
me
so
that
I
can
get
the
the
monies
to
his
family,
but
again
keep
him
in
your
prayers,
got.
A
So,
let's
definitely
again
keep
him
in
our
prayers,
but
also
keep
him
in
our
support.
He's
done
so
much
for
the
community.
Let's
give
back
to
him
now,
un
speaking
of
covert
and
unfortunately
in
those
in
that
aspect.
But
I
would
imagine
that
the
the
upcoming
event
that
you
have
all
had
to
take
certain
precautions
for
having
in
this
season
of
covet.
B
Absolutely
again,
the
people
that
saint
luke
have
been
tremendous
and,
of
course,
we're
going
to
be
obviously
practicing
the
protocols
and
again
the
distancing
and
again
it's
you
know
it's
still
here.
The
pandemic
is
still
going
on,
so
we
will
be
very
cognizant
of
those
the
protocols
and
the
few
people
that
that's
at
the
facility
at
st
luke,
obviously
make
will
make
that
happen.
A
B
B
Everybody
wants
that.
Yes,
yes,
they
do,
but
you
know,
organizations
that
obviously
want
to
support.
You
know
we
sell
tables
and
again,
if
I
had
a
big
company
and
several
employees
yeah,
I
would
be
able
to
have
take
tickets
or
whatever,
but
no,
we
we
keep
it
limited
to
just
tables
and
again,
so
you
and
seven
of
your
best
buddies.
You
don't
should
get
together
and
do
it
that
way,
as
opposed
to
me
having
to
deal
with
all
the
individual
tickets,
but
we're
very
we're
very
proud
of
this.
B
A
B
And
neighbors
absolutely
really
all
year
round,
because
everybody
thinks
that
I
I
you
know,
because
I
can
go
to
the
events,
whether
they
be
pro
games
or
college
games
or
high
school
games.
They
think
I
walk
around
with
a
bunch
of
tickets
in
my
pocket,
whether
they
be
football
games,
baseball
games,
basketball,
games,
but
again
I
have
a
good
time
with
it.
They
I
have
no
problems,
but
you
know
what
I
I
tell
the
folks
that
again
most
of
them
are,
you
know,
they're
pretty
good
about.
B
You
know,
understanding
what
this
is
for
the
kids
and
but
you
know
they
want
to
see
saving
and
I
understand-
and
sometimes
you
know
we
make
it
happen.
Sometimes
I
can't
yeah.
How
can
people
support
well,
first
and
foremost,
the
you
know:
sports
divisions,
the
address
you
could.
Obviously,
if
you
want
to
make
a
contribution,
you
could
sportsvisions
581
north
oakley
drive
columbus,
georgia
31906.
That
would
be
happy
to
take
your
donations
or
checks
there.
B
A
All
right
and
again
presented
by
affleck
is
going
to
be
on
december
9th,
but
if
you
can't
make
it
to
the
event
we're
going
to
play
it
right
here
on
ccgtv,
so
keep
watching
ccgtv
and
to
support
all
of
the
great
athletes
and
all
the
great
things
that
are
coming
from
this
area.
Thank
you.
So
much
for
coming
you're
welcome
anytime.
You
can
come
up
here
because
again,
if
no
one
