From YouTube: Steve Jobs' City Council visit in 2006
Description
On April 18, 2006, Steve Jobs visits the Cupertino City Council to announce the purchase of the Hewlett Packard property. In 2011, Steve returned to announce the plans to build Apple Campus 2.
A
B
Guy
I
don't
have
much
of
a
presentation.
I'm,
obviously
just
came
down
to
tell
you
something
alright
and
get
your
feedback
on
it.
When
you
know
we,
we
started
apple
in
my
parent's
garage
30
years
ago
this
month.
Also,
as
we
started
on
April
Fool's
Day.
No
and
after
about
a
year,
we
moved
to
Cupertino.
So
we've
been
here
for
30,
almost
30
years
and
been
here
ever
since.
B
What's
happened
at
Apple
is
that
our
business
is
basically
tripled
in
the
last
five
or
six
years
gone
from
six
billion
dollars
in
sales
to
20
billion
dollars
in
sales.
Basically,
and
what
that's
meant
is
that
our
headcount
in
cupertino
is
dramatically
expanded,
so
we
are
now.
You
know
we
have
this
great
campus
down
near
280,
but
we
are
in
30
other
buildings.
B
Now
I
mean
we
got
we've
rented
every
scrap
of
building
we
can
find
in
cupertino
and
to
put
our
people
and
they
just
keep
getting
further
and
further
away
from
the
campus,
which
is
in
the
whole
situation,
is
pretty
inefficient
and
and
frustrating
it's
it's
inconvenient
frustrating
for
people.
So
we
decided
many
months
ago
that
we
need
to
build
a
new
campus
and
we
didn't
think
we
could
do
it
in
cupertino,
because
there
ain't
much
there
ain't
a
lot
of
apricot
orchards
left
in
cupertino,
so
we
figured
we
would
have
to
go
outside
of
Cupertino.
B
B
That
piece
of
land
right
across
the
street
from
then
I
think
it's
the
Hundred
Acre
HP
parcel
and
it's
got
buildings
on
it.
It's
already
zoned
commercial.
Our
plan
is
to
basically
take
down
all
the
buildings
and
put
up
some
more
efficient
structures
and
a
campus
basically
build
something
nice.
So
we're
pretty
delighted.
I
mean
we
haven't,
started,
designing
anything
yet
it'll.
Take
us.
You
know
three
four
years
to
design
and
get
all
the
approvals
and
get
it
build
and
stuff,
and
when
we're
done,
we
plan
to
use
both
campuses.
B
C
C
A
See
the
Cupertino
getting
old,
not
you
and
I.
Just
wondering
would
like
to
mention
that
you're
talking
about
developing
that
area-
and
we
do
have
a
sub
committees
called
Economic
Development
Committee
and
you
might
want
to
send
a
rep
to
that
committee
to
work
with,
and
you
know,
maybe
from
there.
We
can
help
you
with
great.
