Hello
good
morning,
everybody,
my
name-

ricardo
romero
morales.
I'm
a
lead
public
information
officer
for
the
emergency
operations
center
in
santa
clara
county,
we're
here
today
to
announce
the
opening
of
another
vaccination
center.
Here
at
this
valley
clinic
today,
we're
honored
to
be
here
with
the
following
speakers:
we
have
supervisors,
cindy
chavez,
santa
clara
county
supervisor.
We
have
supervisor
lee
from
also
the
santa
clara
county
supervisors,
and
we
also
have
dr
gerardo
solorio
cortes,
who
is
primary
care
doctor
at
valley,
health
center
in
gilroy
will
start.
C
We
will
now
go
ahead
and
move
on
to
the
english
and
american
sign
language
portion
of
the
press
conference.
We
will
then
have
a
period
of
answers
and
questions,
and
then
we
will
then
move

in
vietnamese
chinese
and

any
further
ado,
I
will
welcome

the
podium
supervisor
cindy.
C
G
Well,
good
morning,
everyone,
this
is
an
exciting
day
and
welcome
to
the
heart
of
the
east
side
of
san
jose.
G
Now,
one
of
the
reasons
we're
here
is:
we
know
that
people
who
live
and
work
and
play
and
pray
in
this
community
are
heavily
heavily
impacted
by
covid19,
both
with
illness
and
with
death,
and
so
one
of
the
reasons
that
this
place,
that
so
many
people
trust
our
east
valley
clinic,
is
going
to
be
expanding
and
making
sure
people
get
vaccinations
is
this
is
home
for
many
people.
This
is
a
medical
home
for
many
people
who
live
in
this
community
and
I
couldn't
be
more
excited
to
see
this
place,
expanding
and
giving
access
to
vaccines.
G
I
know
that
people
are
nervous
about
getting
the
vaccine,
and
I
know
that
sometimes
even
older
people
in
our
community
are
nervous
about
getting
the
vaccine,
but
here's
what
I
want
to
say
when
it
is
your
turn
step
up
and
get
the
vaccine
you're
protecting
yourself
and
you're
protecting
others.
Thank.
H
You
morning
my
name
is
otto
lee
santa
clara
county
supervisor
for
district
3..
I'm
very
excited
to
be
here
today
and
thank
you
for
joining
us
to
highlight
this
exciting
day
that
we
have
a
new
vaccine
site
right
here
in
east
san
jose
on
biafra
county.
I
want
to
express
my
huge
thanks
to
everyone
who
has
made
it
possible
today.
H
H
We
have
made
some
really
amazing
stride
with
all
the
logistical
and
supply
challenges
we
had.
We
have
vaccinated
over
a
hundred
and
seventy
seven
thousand
people
ready
for
santa
clara
county
and
right
now
we
have
actually
60
60
000
appointments
made
for
this
coming
week.
It's
close
to
10
000
appointment
a
day.
H
We
certainly
need
more
supplies.
The
bottleneck
is
ultimately
to
supply
from
both
the
federal
and
state
government.
The
johnson
johnson
vaccine
is
going
to
be
approved
very
quickly,
based
on
the
news
we
hear
and
being
a
one-shot
vaccine.
This
would
be
a
game
changer
to
add
to
the
moderna
and
the
fights
and
vaccines
that
we've
been
using.
H
You
don't
get
to
choose
which
vaccines
you
get
when
you
come,
but
trust
me
any
one
of
them
will
do,
and
the
best
thing
we
can
do
right
now
is
that
trust
the
vaccines
they
are
safe.
My
parents
had
them.
My
parents
actually
had
both
the
modern
two-shot
vaccines,
there's
really
no
side
effects
at
all
other
than
a
little
sore
arm
the
first
couple
of
days-
and
that
was
it
and
that's
my
own
experience,
I
can
assure
you
it
is
safe-
is
reliable
and
trust
me.
H
H
When
you
have
a
surgical
mask
and
a
half
mask
on
top,
the
effectiveness
is
even
better,
and
I
hope
that
you
can
spread
the
word
to
everybody.
Do
that
remember,
we
still
need
to
wash
our
hands
stay
socially
distanced
and
remember.
We
are
not
at
the
end
yet,
but
the
numbers
are
looking
good.
Hopefully
we
at
the
beginning
of
the
end
of
this
pandemic
and
again
it's
almost
a
year
now,
and
we
can
beat
this
thing.
Thank
you
very
much
for
all
your
hard.
I
Is
gerardo
soloria
cortez,
I'm
a
medical
doctor
and
primary
care
at
valley,
health
center
gilroy
on
behalf
of
the
county
health
system?
I'm
very
happy
to
be
here
today
to
mark
the
opening
of
this
vaccination
site
at
east
valley,
clinic
overcoming
barriers
and
providing
equitable
access
to
vaccines
is
a
top
priority
of
the
county
of
santa
clara,
and
this
site
will
provide
another
option
for
the
community
of
east
san
jose.
I
I
I
Lastly,
I
do
want
to
add
a
a
point
regarding
the
variant
regarding
copay
19.,
and
it
has
come
to
our
attention
of
the
the
county,
santa
clara
public
officials,
that
there
were
three
cases
of
the
uk
variant,
otherwise
known
that
b117
recently
seen
here
through
the
stanford
laboratories.
I
J
News
referenced
this:
can
you
elaborate
on
the
opportunities
that
are
presented
by
the
same
day,
maxine,
maybe
one
of
the
physicians
as
well?
Can
you
hear
me
outside
yeah.
K
K
We
are
excited
to
have
the
addition
of
johnson
johnson
to
our
inventory
of
vaccines.
In
fact,
in
the
next
week
ahead,
we're
not
able
to
realize
our
full
capacity
for
first
dose
appointments
due
to
the
the
low
current
inventory,
so
that
is
the
the
most
significant
development
that
johnson
johnson
could
bring.
K
In
addition,
due
to
the
fact
that
it's
one
dose
and
has
less
intense
cold
chain
storage
requirements,
it
gives
us
more
flexibility
to
reach
the
highest
risk
communities
who
might
have
difficulty
being
reached
for
their
second
dose
and
people
who
we
might
need
to
vaccinate
more
in
a
field-based
mobile
setting.
L
K
How
important
are
sites
like
the
one
that
we're
opening
here
today
at
east
valley,
clinic
every
site
that
we
have
is
important
for
us
to
maintain
our
success
in
fighting
this
virus,
particularly
the
sites
that
are
designed
to
be
most
accessible
to
the
communities
that
have
been
most
impacted
by
covet
19,
and
this
is
one
of
those
sites-
that's
designed
to
be
accessible
for
this
community,
in
addition
to
many
other
strategies
that
we
have,
including
mobile
teams,
to
the
higher
risk
communities
and
pop-up
walk-in
sites
for
the
high-risk
communities.
K
M
K
So
I
think
there
are
several
things
making
a
difference
in
terms
of
less
infection.
The
question
was,
after
opening
several
vaccine
sites,
what's
really
making
a
difference
in
terms
of
less
infection,
we
continue
to
get
more
and
more
people
vaccinated
every
day,
which
is
a
key
part
of
reducing
the
transmission
of
the
chronovirus,
as
well
as
the
severe
impacts
from
the
from
the
illness.
K
In
addition,
people
are
fortunately
continuing
to
to
take
precautions,
particularly
with
masking
hand,
hygiene
and
social
distancing,
and
so
all
of
those
things
just
remain
particularly
important
as
we
move
forward
toward
the
toward
the
next
tiers.
G
I
want
to
start
by
saying
we
can
always
do
more
that
we're
in
the
business
of
making
sure
that
every
single
person
in
our
community
who
wants
to
be
vaccinated
gets
an
opportunity
to
be
vaccinated
and
that
every
person
in
our
community
has
the
information
they
need
to
make
the
best
choice.
What
the
county's
done
is.
We've
got
almost
about
120
people
who
are
going
on
doors
door
to
door,
educating
the
public,
helping
them
sign
up
for
vaccinations
and
we're
doing
that
in
the
hardest
hit
census
tracts
over
the
next
week.
G
We're
going
to
add
another,
I'm
sorry
next,
two
weeks,
we'll
add
another
30
people
to
that
team
of
folks
who
are
going
door
to
door.
The
reason
we're
doing
that
is
what
we
know
is
not
everybody's
motivated
the
same
way,
not
everybody's
gonna,
you
know
get
a
social
media
post
or
you
know,
have
somebody
call
them
necessarily
that's
going
to
get
them
to
go
out.
So
we're
trying
everything
one
we're
in
places
on
in
the
community.
G
Two
we're
doing
everything
from
pop-up
sites,
meaning
you
don't
have
to
have
a
a
reservation.
You
can
just
show
up
three.
This
site
will
be
a
location
where
people
can
actually
drive
up
and
in
addition
to
that,
we're
looking
at
very
large
sites
that
are
interesting
right.
There
are
some
people
who
are
going
to
want
to
go
to
49ers
stadium.
There
are
some
like
me
who
are
going
to
want
to
go
to
a
roller
rink
that
I
used
to
go
to
at
eastridge
right.
There
are
lots
of
different
ways.
G
We're
approaching
this,
but
one
of
the
things
we're
doing
is
we're
going
door-to-door
and
we're
going
business
to
business.
So
the
door-to-door
is
again
we're
able
to
sign
people
up
right
then,
and
then
going
business
to
business
as
employers
as
their
employees
are
eligible
to
make
sure
we're
talking
to
those
businesses
we're
leaving
no
stone
unturned,
we'll
keep
leaving
no
stone.
