B
They
won
the
title
of
national
champions
of
the
harmony
sweepstakes
an
acapella
competition
this
year,
and
we
are
so
pleased
and
delighted
to
have
them
performing
for
us
this
evening
at
our
2018
annual
tree
lighting
event
on
behalf
of
the
city
of
Cupertino,
I
would
like
to
welcome
you
all
to
our
event.
Tonight
we
are
so
happy.
You
were
able
to
make
it
and
we
hope
you
enjoy
the
evening.
I
would
like
to
pay
special
thanks
to
those
of
you
that
brought
canned
food
items
to
donate,
to
West
Valley
Community
Services.
B
Please
know
that
your
donations
will
be
serving
our
community
and
helping
many
of
our
families
in
need.
I'd
like
to
give
special
thanks
to
the
Lawson
lightning
choir
from
Lawson
middle
school.
They
are
directed
by
Marissa
Steeler
and
they
will
be
performing
the
after
ceremony
festivities
in
the
back
patio
area.
I
would
also
like
to
acknowledge
and
thank
Jeremy
Sutton.
He
will
be
capturing
tonight's
event
with
a
digital
painting
that
will
be
projected
on
the
back
patio
on
a
large
screen.
He
is
designing
the
artwork
through
his
iPad.

C
E
D
This
event
could
not
have
happened
without
some
really
really
special
people
being
involved
and
I
really
feel
very,
very
proud
and
honored
to
be
able
to
recognize
some
of
these
folks.
You
know
our
own
City,
Public,
Works
team
and
the
tree
division
is
responsible
for
putting
strings
of
lights
and
as
you'll
notice,
there's
hundreds
and
hundreds
thousands
of
lights
on
the
trees.
It's
not
an
easy
task.
D
We
couldn't
have
done
this
event
tonight
without
their
help,
we're
very
pleased
with
the
facilities
in
the
grounds
division
for
their
help,
helping
to
make
the
community
center
look
so
festive
and
as
you'll
notice
on
each
side
of
you
on
the
right
and
the
left,
there's
a
lot
of
new
landscaping.
That's
recently
gone
in
again,
thank
you
to
them
to
our
public
works
team.
D
Thank
you.
This
event
also
would
not
be
possible
without
some
real
champions,
I'd
like
to
take
just
a
moment
and
recognize
some
of
the
folks
that
day
in
and
day
out,
put
events
together
for
you,
Rochelle
sander,
Kelsey,
Hayes
I
saw
Molly
James
here,
Bobby
Kaufman,
Jason,
miss
early
and,
of
course,
our
cupertino
video
crew,
wonderful
job
all
for
putting
this
wonderful
event
tonight
together
for
us.
D
I'd
also
like
to
take
a
moment
now
and
recognize
we
have
some
very,
very
special
folks
with
us
tonight
and
I'd
like
to
just
to
recognize
them
that
they've
taken
time
out
of
their
busy
schedules
to
join
us
and
be
here
with
us
and
to
celebrate
this
event.
A
vice
mayor,
rod
sinks
is
here:
councilmember
Savita,
vite,
anathan,
councilmember,
Steven
sharp
and
incoming
councilmember
Liang
Chow,
an
incoming
councilmember
John
Willie.
D
These
events
also
occur
because
we
have
a
lot
of
good
assistants
and
a
lot
of
great
folks
who
work
in
the
Parks
and
Recreation
Commission
Commissioner
Carol
Stanek
is
here
with
us
tonight:
Commissioner
Helene,
Davis
and
Commissioner
Judy
Wilson
appreciate
them
being
here.
I
also
noticed
the
chair
of
our
wonderful
library,
Commission
Christy
Wang
is
here
so
with
that
said,
it's
my
pleasure
and
honor
to
introduce
to
you
councilmember,
Stephen,
sharp,
who
will
be
giving
you
a
few
comments.
E
F
Happy
holidays,
everybody
I
have
about
two
hours
worth
the
remarks
here
so
get
ready.
So
mayor
Paul
is
out
of
town
on
City
business
and
he
asked
me
to
officiate
here
this
evening.
A
week
and
a
half
ago
the
mayor
was
kind
to
a
turkey
and
pardoned
him,
and
today
we're
lighting
the
Cupertino
holiday
tree
and
on
Sunday
evening
we
will
be
lighting
the
annual
Hanukkah
menorah
over
a
Callie
mill
Plaza.
F
The
tree
lighting
is
another
example
of
why
the
holidays
are
special
in
Cupertino
celebrations
like
these
offer
us
a
time
for
reflection
and
perspective
over
the
next
few
weeks.
As
we
celebrate
the
holidays
of
different
cultures
and
religions,
we
share
the
ideals
that
say
that
we
have
to
reach
out
to
each
other,
forgive
each
other
and
care
for
each
other
and
not
just
a
few
weeks
each
year,
and
this
crosses
religious
lines,
whether
you're,
Christian,
Jewish,
Muslim,
Hindu,
Buddhist,
other
religion
or
even
a
non-believer.
F
We
recently
celebrated
Diwali.
Next
week
we
celebrate
Hanukkah
in
four
weeks
we
celebrate
Christmas
and
then
Kwanzaa
year
round,
not
just
a
holiday
time.
We
need
to
join
together
to
create
a
better
earth.
Better
United
States,
better
California
and
a
better
City,
so
on
behalf
of
the
Cupertino
City
Council
and
all
the
city,
employees,
Happy
Holidays.
Thank
you.
A
C
B
B
B
Thank
you.
We
are
so
glad
you're
here
tonight
we
were
just
getting
ready
to
light
the
holiday
tree.
Oh
my
gosh,
isn't
it
beautiful
it's
so
tall
and
bad?
It's
a
beautiful
tree,
absolutely
yeah!
Well,
would
you
be?
Would
you
like
to
help
us
light?
The
tree
I
would
love
to
excellent
okay,
okay.
Well,
maybe
what
we
can
do
is
a
countdown
Oh,
a
cap
down
hello.
G
B
B
And
so
we
have
a
few
announcements
here,
just
a
reminder:
we
have
cookies
and
hot
chocolate
will
be
in
the
lobby
of
the
Quinlan
Community
Center
right
as
you
walk
into
the
left
as
you
head
towards
the
Cupertino
room,
there
will
also
be
other
activities
in
the
outside
back
area
of
the
community
center.
There
will
be
photos
with
Santa,
please
remember
only
to
poseurs
her
family
so
that
everybody
gets
a
chance
to
meet
with
Santa.
We
will
have
digital
artist,
Jeremy
Sutton
will
be
in
the
back
patio.
