A
Welcome
my
name
is
chris
johanson,
with
the
City
of
Des
Moines,
Community,
Development
Department
and
today
I'm
here
with
Lance
Henning
executive
director
of
the
greater
Des
Moines
Habitat
for
Humanity,
and
we're
here
to
talk
about
the
unique
partnership
they
have
with
the
City
of
Des
Moines.
Well,.
A
B
Been
excited
to
be
able
to
work
with
the
community
to
be
able
to
do
200
houses
with
low-income
homeowners
and
that
the
city
has
been
a
very
important
partner
with
Habitat
for
Humanity.
We
worked
with
the
city
in
a
number
of
ways
and
in
the
funding
side,
the
city
has
helped
us
to
create
135
of
those
200
homes
and
and
being
able
to
do
that
that
every
dollar
that
the
city's
helped
habitat
with
we've
been
able
to
leverage
that
421
create
more
than
15
million
dollars
of
the
housing.
Very.
A
B
Yeah
the
homebuilding
side
we're
working
with
homeowners
that
are
earning
less
than
sixty
percent
of
area
median
income
and
they
do
sweat
equity
with
habitat.
And
then
we
provide
a
no
interest.
Mortgage
and
volunteers
from
the
community
helped
build
the
houses
and
then
our
other
programs
working
on
the
housing.
B
So,
if
they're
doing
home
maintenance
home
repair,
it's
things
that
just
being
able
to
have
access
to
the
tools
and
when
you
call
it
a
tool,
lending
library,
that's
exactly
what
it
is
so
with
a
small
membership
fee.
Folks
can
come
and
check
out
tools
and
then
the
Habitat
ReStore,
and
hopefully
people
have
checked
that
out.
It's
over
at
east
euclid,
night
235,
and
that
is
we
like
to
think
of
as
the
ultimate
home
improvement
outlet.
But
it's
a
great
value
on
building
materials
or
someone
has
a
building
material
that
they
would
like
to
donate.
B
A
B
Is
extremely
important
for
Habitat
for
emailing
the
way
we
build
partners
like
the
City
of
Des
Moines
has
been
helping
us
in
the
way
we
plan
and
address
and
go
after
making
a
difference
in
the
neighborhoods
and
then
just
the
general
community
be
able
to
work
with
us.
So
we'll
have
about
twelve
thousand
volunteers
that
work
with
habitat
humanity
this
year,
and
then
it
doesn't
matter.
If
it's
a
corporation,
a
church
or
an
individual.
B
B
We
hope
that
we
can
continue
to
build
the
partnerships
and
keep
building
bridges.
So
we
often
like
to
talk
about
that
we're
more
than
just
building
houses
and
when
we
talk
about
that,
we're
thinking
about
how
we
can
be
a
bridge
to
help
get
folks
together
and
make
a
difference
in
the
City
of
Des
Moines
and
make
a
difference
in
housing
and
neighborhoods,
and
so
we're
looking
at
how
we
can
do
the
next
500
houses
and
looking
at
how
we
can
make
a
difference,
really
change
in
neighborhoods.
B
A
Lance
I
think
you
know,
your
partnership
with
the
city
has
been
greatly
appreciate.
I
think
you've
helped
the
city
accomplish
great
efforts
towards
revitalization
of
a
lot
of
our
neighborhoods,
and
we
wish
you
continued
success
with
that
as
well.
Well,
thanks
for
your
great
partnership,
thank
you
very
much.
