A
Hello,
I
am
Rosemarie
Scott
and
I'm
baylee
lee
with
Des
Moines
Community
Action
Agency,
Des,
Moines,
Community,
Action
Agency
has
been
a
proud
partner
with
D
mark
or
des
moines
area,
Religious
Council
for
several
years
as
a
community
action
program.
We
value
your
experiences
and
feedback
and
I'm
excited
to
announce
some
great
changes
that
will
be
happening
this
month,
starting
july.
First,
we'll
be
changing
over
to
a
choice:
food
pantry,
a
choice.
B
Food
pantry
is
a
growing
trend
that
we
are
happy
to
embrace
in
our
community
the
kind
of
food
pantry
that
gives
you
opportunities
to
select
your
own
food,
just
like
a
grocery
store,
unlike
what
we
have
done
in
the
past,
provide
you
with
selected
bags
of
food.
You
will
now
have
the
choice
to
select
your
own
food.
Well,
we
still
provide
guidelines
to
ensure
balanced
meals
for
those
we
serve.
You
will
still
have
the
chance
to
choose
from
a
wide
variety
of
options
for
each
food
category.
B
A
In
stud
with
this
transition,
we
do
ask
for
patience.
As
with
any
change.
There
may
be
a
small
period
of
delay
where
we
develop
our
system
and
get
back
to
the
speed
we
are
used
to
seeing
from
us.
We
know
this
will
be
a
better
experience
for
everyone
and
we
thank
you
for
your
understanding.
If
you
would
like
to
volunteer
and
be
a
part
of
our
success,
please
call
us
we
would
love
to
have.
B
You
this
kind
of
pantry
isn't
easier
and
it
does
take
a
little
bit
more
time.
So
some
people
ask:
why
are
we
moving
to
a
choice,
food
pantry
and
the
answer
is
pretty
simple
because
of
you.
We
want
to
ensure
that
when
you
use
our
services,
you
are
satisfied
with
what
you
receive
feel
a
sense
of
dignity
and
leave
happy
there.
Isn't
anyone
in
our
community
that
hasn't
fallen
on
hard
times,
I
needed
a
little
help
now
and
then
and
that's
what
we're
here
for
we.
A
B
Hot
human
summer
days
are
quickly
approaching
with
those
hot
days.
Many
in
our
community
are
in
danger
of
heat-related
illnesses,
simply
because
they
don't
have
fans
or
air
conditioning
to
stay
cool.
We
offer
fans
and
air
conditioners
to
those
in
need
in
the
City
of
Des
Moines
to
get
a
fan,
families
must
meet
income
guidelines
and
not
currently
have
a
fan
in
their
home
to
get
a
window.
Air
conditioner
families
must
meet
income
guidelines
and
have
a
signed
dr.
statement.
B
The
air
conditioning
is
medically
needy
fans,
and
air
conditioners
are
available
on
a
first-come,
first-served
basis
or
until
the
supply
is
exhausted.
If
you
own
your
home
and
have
a
central
air-conditioning
unit
that
isn't
working,
we
may
be
able
to
help
with
that
too.
Just
give
us
a
call
to
determine
if
you're
eligible
or
not
oftentimes,.
A
We
have
families
that
come
to
us
with
loved
ones
that
are
suffering
from
cancer,
heart
conditions
or
even
chronic
breathing
issues.
In
these
hot
and
humid
summer
days
it
becomes
very
real
life
threatening
situation,
but
they
simply
do
not
have
the
financial
needs
to
purchase
an
air
conditioner
after
the
basic
needs
of
rent
food
and
medication.
There
isn't
there
just
isn't
enough
money
to
buy
a
more
expensive
purchases
like
an
air
conditioner
and.
B
We
only
have
a
few
air
conditioners
because
we
rely
on
donations
for
this
program.
That
means
we
depend
on
the
kindness
and
generosity
of
those
in
the
city
des
Moines,
Community,
Action
Agency
and
the
Des
Moines
Fire
Department
are
once
again
working
together
to
collect
new
boxed
means
and
window
air
conditioners
to
distribute
to
low-income
families
in
the
city
to
make
it
as
easy
as
possible
to
donate.
B
And
resolution
or
anr
is
our
crisis
utility
program
designed
to
help
households
who
have
a
disconnect
notice
or
need
assistance
with
reconnection
of
services.
We
offer
the
a
in
our
program
monday
through
wednesday,
and
it
is
a
first-come,
first-serve
program,
because
this
program
is
a
comprehensive
look
at
your
situation.
There
are
a
limited
number
of
spots
available
each
day
when.
A
You
come
in
for
this
program.
A
family
development
specialist
will
assess
your
financial
situation
with
mid-american
energy
by
exploring
payment
options
to
avoid
disconnection
or
reestablish
your
services.
They
will
also
complete
a
review
of
household
income
and
expenses,
they'll
determine
income
eligibility
and
refer
you
to
other
programs
as
needed.
This.
B
Is
a
program
that
does
ask
for
something
from
you
when
you
use
it
in
order
to
be
approved
for
assistance
des
moines.
Community
action
requires
three
things:
an
adult
member
of
the
household
will
need
to
attend
our
financial
and
energy
wise
class.
The
second
thing
is,
you
will
need
to
make
a
minimum
payment
of
ten
percent
and
the
third
one
is
payment,
verification
or
agency
vouchers
for
any
additional
funds
that
you
will
need
to
restore
or
keep
your
service
a
few.
A
Things
you
should
know
about
this
program.
Funding
is
limited
for
assessment
resolution
and
daily
availability
is
not
guaranteed.
We
open
our
doors
at
eight
a.m.
every
morning,
Monday
through
Wednesday,
and
fill
these
spots
on
a
first-come,
first-served
basis.
Appointments
are
generally
not
given
for
this
program
due
to
funding
availability.
Therefore,
I
strongly
encourage
you
to
come
in
early
in
the
morning
to
secure
a
time
for
this
program.
We.
B
Are
often
asked
who
do
you
help?
We
help
the
entire
city
of
des
moines,
your
neighbors,
your
friends,
your
family
and
sometimes
even
you,
it's
clear
that
the
economy
has
impacted
every
one
of
us
and
the
programs
we
offer
have
been
greatly
impacted
by
these
changes.
Simply
put,
we
have
a
higher
demand
to
need
your
help
this
summer.
Please
consider
donating
a
fan
entering
some
of
your
time
and
being
a
part
of
solving
a
community,
need
all
donations,
go
directly
to
the
clients
and
help
strengthen
our
fine
city.
