A
Hi,
my
name
is
Julia
Johnson
and
I
am
representing
run.
Dsm
I
currently
work
with
them
with
their
after-school
spoken
word
programs,
so
I
work
with
middle
schoolers
and
high
schoolers
and
teach
them
how
to
express
themselves
creatively
in
a
classroom
setting
run
D
as
Simms
passion
is
just
to
help
create
the
future
educators
and
activists
of
Des
Moines
I
think
that
we
want
to
teach
students
about
what
it
means
to
be
involved
in
a
safe
space.
And
how
do
you
create
a
safe
space
for
other
people?
A
A
One
way
Ren
DSM
moved
their
passion
to
progress
is
that
we
can't
they
kind
of
take
a
back
seat.
First
I
give
students
the
education
and
the
knowledge
behind
things,
and
then
they
allowed
them
to
kind
of
come
up
and
do
their
own
things.
I
think
that
I
am
a
breathing
example
of
that
I
entered
the
program
when
I
was
in
high
school
and
they
gave
me
the
tools
to
be
able
to
express
myself
and
now
they've.
A
For
a
run,
DSM,
it's
really
gratifying
and
I
think
they
feel
really
grateful,
because,
even
though
it's
super
amazing
that
kids
say
all
the
time
like
we
say
our
mentor
saved
our
life
or
this
arts
saved
their
life.
But
I
think
is
very
nice
for,
like
the
people
of
the
city,
to
come
together
and
acknowledge
Ren
DSM's
work,
because
sometimes
I
think
that
when
it
comes
to
the
arts,
people
don't
really
see
that
as
activism
or
they
don't
really
see
that
as
like
something
that's
educational.
A
I
think
that
one
issue
that
the
Des
Moines
community
collectively
could
work
on
is
just
making
sure
that
we
come
out
to
support
children
and
all
things
they
do,
whether
that
sports
or
arts
or
dance
or
a
math.
The
clad
salon,
like
anything
that
children
feel
passionate
about
I,
think
that
we
should
all
be
rallying
together
to
support
those
things.
Even
if
it's
not
something
that
we
particularly
like
or
enjoy.
