serve
in
the
capacity
of
economic
development
manager
for
the
city
of
Inglewood,
and
so
my
role
is
basically
to
support
our
businesses,
both
small
and
large,
throughout
the
community,
and
invite
new
businesses
into
Inglewood
to
help
develop
some
banking
spaces,
and
we've
got
a
few
resources
and
programs
to
support
that.
I
can
talk
briefly
about
what
those
are
tonight.

We're
on
the
we
just
came
off
of
a
pretty
big
process
throughout
the
summer
late
spring
early
summer
and
throughout
the
summer
to
do
an
economic
development,
strategic
plan
which
Council
will
consider
by
resolution
to
adopt
by
resolution
on
Monday
night.
So
actually,
timing
for
this
discussion
is
wonderful
and
I.
Appreciate
you
all
taking
a
few
minutes
to
have
this
conversation.

But
when
looking
looking
at
again
today
and
late
last
week
over
some
of
the
criteria
and
some
of
the
benefits
of
this
Art
District
I
was
reminded
by
what
a
a
local
business
owner
said.
Sometimes
is
he
asked
a
question
before
he
Endeavors
with
a
new
business
idea?
Is:
is
the
juice
worth
the
squeeze
and
is
this
Art
District
worth
the
lift
of
getting
it
there?
So
with
that
prism,
I
looked
at
the
program
a
little
bit
and
it's
pretty
heavy
lift
to
get
it
across
the
board.

There's
a
dedicated
staff
member
requires
strategic
plan
budget,
huge
Community,
buy-in
more
important.
There
has
to
be
a
defined
identifiable,
something
that
makes
sense
of
an
art
district
I,
look
at
Inglewood
and
I
see
an
art
community,
but
not
necessarily
A
District
and
some
of
the
benefits
that
I
saw
and
this
through
the
benefits
other
than
the
name
itself,
and
having
that
those
cool
naming
rights,
and
maybe
maybe
that's
of
interest
but
point.

Don't
really
seem
that
great
you
get
a
couple
of
signs,
a
chance
for
a
ten
thousand
dollar
matching
Grant
and
on
the
state's
website
and
a
networking
thing
every
now
and
then
I
don't
see
a
huge
bang
for
the
buck
to
get
there
and
certainly
I
think
there's
a
lot
more
opportunities
for
networking
and
opportunities
for
local
connections
that
exist.
So
I
wanted
to
shift
you
slightly
away
from
the
arc.
The
Cultural
District.

But
let's
talk
about
our
program,
but
right
now
is
Inglewood
ready
for
an
art
district
prob
I
mean
it's
my
assessment,
probably
not
the
Strategic
plan
that
we
did
did
not
imagine
an
art
districts.
There
wasn't
a
call
along
those
lines.
There
were
a
lot
of
place,
making
and
public
investment
comments
throughout
this
process,
but
not
necessarily
an
outspoken
voice
to
say:
hey,
we've
got
this
clearly
defined
Art
District,
you
all
are
probably
familiar
with
our
Downtown
Development
Authority
eaglet,
Downtown,
Development,
Authority
and
they're
very
active,
it's
basically
from
City
Center.

All
the
way
through
the
Medical
District
is
an
area
called
The
Downtown
Development
Authority
they've
got
three
areas:
City
Center
downtown
and
our
Wellness
District.
Our
Medical
District
and
there's
some
resources
under
that
umbrella
and
some
really
unique
opportunities
to
engage
with
the
businesses
on
the
on
the
ground
level
and
the
executive
director
Hillary
Portell
is
working
on
a
really
neat
concept
to
activate
some
of
our
vacant
spaces
at
city
center.
That
would
be
simply
used
as
shared
spaces
for
arts,
co-working
and
other
non-profit
type
activity.

I
have
a
quick
question.
Well,
maybe
a
couple
questions,
the
first
being
I
do
not
disagree
with
you
as
far
as
a
formal
Arts
District
in
the
current
downtown
or
medical
Corridor
as
it
stands.
Have
you
looked
at
any
sort
of
District
like
a
makers
District,
more
specifically
west,
of
Santa
Fe
in
more
of
the
yeah.
The
I
guess
that
that
particular
Corridor,
like
west
of
Santa,
Fe
west
of
kind
of
like
the
Platte
District,
were
a
lot
more
of
our
manufacturing
is
housed.

You
know
that's
a
great
great
feedback.
Yes,
there
was
some
some
a
lot
of
focus
on
the
Strategic
plan
about
supporting
our
small
I'm
looking
at
a
zoning
map
over
in
over
my
shoulder,
which
is
that's
really
not,
that
is
to
talk
about
kind
city,
council,
District
map,
the
zoning
map
is
shadowed
underneath.

But
when
you
look
at
the
city's
zoning
map,
a
large
area
of
the
city
west
of
Santa,
Fe
and
south
of
285
along
the
Santa
Fe
Corridor,
is
a
light
industrial
and
great
Makerspace
opportunities,
and
not
necessarily
in
the
context
of
a
district,
but
just
in
the
context
of
being
small,
affordable
available.
In
some
cases,
their
vacancy
rates
are
still
fairly
low
for
industrial,
but
there's
some
there's
some
opportunity
for
that.

I
did
want
to
cover.
We
do
have
a
core
economic
development
program
that
can
support
a
small
and
large
businesses,
but
we
tend
to
focus
on
employers
that
have
50
or
fewer
employees
with
our
startup
Grant
and
our
business
acceleration
Grant
and
those
grants
help
fund
businesses
starting
up
or
expanding,
that
need
to
have
Capital
investments
in
their
businesses
and
we
can
help
with
fire
fire
suppression
expenses.

They
received
a
small
Grant
to
support
fire
suppression
and
that's
up
in
district
one
so
and
they
did
a.
They
were
really
pleased
to
have
the
city's
involvement
in
in
working
along
those
lines
and
the
one
of
the
entrepreneurs
that
started
this
up.
Is
everybody
familiar
with
Continuum
art
studios
or
has
anybody
heard
of
it?
Yes,
I
heard
it
fantastic,
so
they
they
took
for
those
that
happened.
They
took
a
about
a
15,
000
square
foot
office,
architect
office,
building
on
two
floors
and
turned
it
into
an
artist
Co-op.

So
there's
going
to
be
about
80.
80
to
100
artists
that
are
going
to
locate
up
there
and
that's
a
really
neat
opportunity
for
Inglewood
as
far
as
entrepreneurial
development
and
jobs
and
folks
that
are
working
in
Inglewood
in
the
Arts
industry.
So
we're
partnering
with
them.
Perhaps
to
do
some
small
business
workshops
and
training
and
in
fact
they
one
of
the
owners
said
they
would
love
to
connect
with
the
cultural
arts,
commission
with
the
city
and
perhaps
host
host
you
all
in
the
coming
year.

If
that's,
if
that's
of
Interest
there's
going
to
be
a
lot
of
a
lot
of
artists
at
that
location
and
that's
kind
of
going
to
help
us
put
help
put
us
on
the
map
in
the
neighborhood
there's
another
artist,
Tina
zazinski
has
a
place
on
a
place
up
in
the
same
neighborhood.
Just
two
blocks
away:
she's
got
a
small
studio
and
small
maker
space
available
blue
tile
Studio
on
Broadway
Dolan
guyman,
just
across
the
street,
from
the
old
General
Ironworks
site.

Black
Cube
is
up
on
the
hill
as
well,
so
there's
a
lot
of
Arts
spaces
in
the
city
and
there's
a
lot
more.
That
I'm-
not
even
naming
here
that's
these-
are
just
the
first
four
that
came
to
mind
so
there's
a
great
opportunity,
I
think
to
think
about
what
is
Arts
community
and
the
makers
component.
That's
kind
of
another
Hot
Topic
in
economic
development
is
the
makers
component
and
building
building
off
of
them.
What's
building
off
of
that
uniquely
made.

Yeah
really
interest.
That's
a
really
interesting
idea
that
made
in
Englewood
and
I
think
it
would
fit
really
well
with
more
of
a
Arts
Community
versus
District,
it's
certainly
more
holistic.
Do
you
have
like
an
example
of
another
Arts
Community
in
the
sort
of
general
area
that
you're
thinking
of
or
that
you
kind
of
are
kind
of
modeling
some
ideas
after.

not
in
a
central,
not
in
one
kind
of
identifiable
District.
A
short
answer,
no
is
the
is
a
short
answer,
but
we're
kind
of
unique
I
think
we're
very
unique.
So
why
are
we
attractive
to
artists
in
the
first
place?

think
we're
Central,
affordable,
accessible
and
unique,
very
authentic
community.

may
need
that
little
bit
of
training
through
the
Small
Business
Development
Center
on
how
to,
for
example,
do
some
of
the
marketing
for
their
business
or
QuickBooks
or
if
they
happen
to
be
bringing
on
an
apprentice,
how
to
go
about
that
process
and
do
it
legally
and
all
that
all
that
stuff,
so
how
to
take
up
a
website
and
and
promote
your
business
on
a
website.
Artists
do
their
Wares
very
well,
but
this
is
the
other
side
of
it.

Yeah
one
of
our
main
goals
and
I
know
Kyle
will
talk
about
this
in
a
little
while,
but
is
artists,
engagement
and
building
that
Community,
where
perhaps
we
didn't
do
such
a
great
job
during
the
pandemic,
and
so
this
is
sort
of
a
renewed
opportunity
to
do
that,
and
some
of
our
artists
meet
and
greets.
This
has
kind
of
been
I.
Guess
I
would
say.

It's
nothing
formal
and
I'll.
Tell
you
the
truth:
I
haven't
had
that
had
I
didn't
I
hadn't,
seen
it
out
there
as
a
formal
idea
anyway.
So
but
I
when
I
was
looking
at
the
district
idea.
I
thought
we've
got
all
the
attributes
just
spread.
It's
it's
just
spread
evenly
throughout
the
community
without
being
in
one
Central
District
and
then
the
other
concept.
Is
we
really
what
bang
for
the
buck
are
we
going
to
get
besides
a
couple
of
signs,
ten
thousand
bucks
enlisted
on
the
state's
website?

We
can
do
a
whole
lot
more
with
that,
rather
than
going
through
all
the
jumping
jacks
to
get
into
the
into
that
program
and
we've
got
the
fabric,
but
it's
it's
the
fabric
across
the
community.
So
no
that
I
I
can't
think
of
an
example
to
pull
this
community
as
an
artist
Community.
We
could
lead
the
way
that
in
that
direction,
though,
I
think.

They
have
a
very
thriving
Community
like
when
you
think
about
the
Littleton
Museum,
their
theater,
their
Productions,
like
I
I,
feel
like
they
have
it's
a
little
bit
more
clear
to
me,
their
art
community,
where
I'd
like
to
see
us
some,
like,
maybe
not
exactly
the
same
I,
think
we
have
our
own
look
and
our
own
feel.
But
maybe
that's
what
you're
saying
is
something
like
that
and
like
it
do
they
have
a
special
designation
under
the
city
for
funding
and
grants
to
promote
that
Community
with
their
Redevelopment
of
downtown
Littleton.

can't
sorry
I
can't
speak
to
Littleton,
specifically
yeah
other
than
being
familiar
with
some
of
the
some
of
the
communities
that
were
listed
and
I
just
quickly
looked
at
the
state's
20,
something
Arts
districts
that
are
designated
and
and
when
I
looked
at
those
communities.
I
said
yes
that
makes
sense
that
portion
of
Colfax
and
Lakewood
makes
sense
that
area
of
Grand
Junction
makes
sense.

Those
those
those
little
slices
of
a
larger
Community
make
sense
as
a
district,
but
it's
just
kind
of
thinking
of
ourselves
as
as
bigger
than
we
might
appear,
but
looking
at
it
as
a
community
as
a
whole,
we've
got.
We've
got
a
lot
of
the
right
fabric
already
here,
and
it
doesn't
come
with
the
two
signs.
It
doesn't
come
with
ten
thousand,
but
it
comes.

There's
a
reason
for
people
to
come
to
Inglewood
and
stay
stick
stay
in
the
community
for
a
bit,
so
the
other
side
of
that
is
the
makers
side
of
that.
I
really
hope
that
in
the
future
that
we
can
work
together
on
that
and
help
maybe
get
the
word
out
about
our
our
made
in
Inglewood
concept
that
hasn't
been.

We
haven't
it's
it's
just
the
framework
of
an
idea
at
the
moment
and
we're
imagining
that
would
be
a
Scotland
formed
like
a
scholarship
which
we
currently
offer
scholarships
for
businesses
to
participate
with
our
economic
Partners.
This
would
kind
of
be
a
spin-off
of
that.
So,
if
someone
was
looking
to
do
a
trade
show
or
a
an
art,
a
trade
show,
and
there
was
a
trade
show
fee.
We
were
imagining
that
this
would
cover
that
trade
show
fee,
so
it
wouldn't
be
the
it
wouldn't
be
the
flight
to
Orlando
for
the
trade
show.

Maybe
it
was
it's
covering
up
to
up
to
500
to
participate
by
by
covering
that
trade
show
fee
yeah,
featuring
products
that
are
made
in
Inglewood
and
again
there's
a
richness
of
products.
I'm
focused
at
this.
At
this
moment
on
the
art
side,
but
there's
a
lot
of
products
that
are
made
in
Inglewood
that
are
manufactured
in
Inglewood
in
in
I
think
there's
an
opportunity
to
showcase
that
primarily
our
Arts
artists,
but
others
as
well.
Small
manufacturers,
small
machine
shops,
that
sort
of
stuff.

Yeah
totally
the
juice
is
worth
the
squeeze,
but
the
other
thing
I'd
say
is
as
we're
thinking
about
the
DDA
and
Hillary
and
and
kind
of
when
we
look
at
places
like
Littleton.
You
know,
I,
don't
know
the
right
way
of
beginning
this
conversation,
but
the
the
topic
of
having
a
dedicated
arts
space,
whether
that
be
in
conjunction
with
a
library,
freestanding
something
totally
separate
within
a
city
hall,
but
something
along
those
lines.

think
as
this
conversation
progresses
and
I,
don't
know
how
quickly
it
will
progress
for
the
DDA,
but-
and
this
is
not
my
forte
and
planning
a
space
like
this,
but
I
do
think
it's
worth
beginning
to
socialize
the
need
and
the
the
desire
of
the
community
which
which
we
have
you
know,
we've
we've
done
an
art
survey
and
just
anecdotally.
You
know
over
the
last
couple
years
has
been
a
really
big
ask
in
the
community
and
so
to
begin.

steal,
Hillary's
thunder

speak.
She's
got
a
great
idea:
Under
The,
Hub
concept
of
making
use
at
city
center
of
some
City
Center
space
couple
pieces
have
to
move.

current
property
owner
has
to
be
open
to
the
idea
of
making
that
space
available,
perhaps
at
a
discounted
rate,
but
the
users
I
think
they're
going
to
fall
into
place
pretty
quickly.
Redline
Studio
would
be
an
operator.
Redline
is
out
at
Denver.
Have
you
ever?

Has
anybody
heard
of
red
heart,
Studio,
very
impressive,
they're
associated
with
the
library
up
in
Denver,
as
well
as
other
spaces?
They
just
so
happen
to
be
adjacent
to
a
library
in
Denver,
but
this
would
be
across
the
way
and
when
they
come
into
the
community,
they
very
much
are
about
the
community.

think
that
the
timing

be
quite
good
and
then,
of
course,
the

idea
of
obviously
historically
having
like
an
Inglewood
History
Museum
in
that
space
is
something
that's
been
a
long
desire,

coupling

arts
or
culture.

could
be
interesting.

caricatures

would

thousand
dollars
for

tree
lighting,

budget

and

of
everything
in

the

recreation
center

be

event

have
the
tree
lighting
