A
Hi
I'm
Evans
the
city
manager,
Wally
Bob
coats
and
welcome
to
this
edition
of
Evanston
spotlight,
where
we
talk
about
items
coming
up
on
the
Everson
City
Council
agenda
and
on
our
next
meeting
on
Monday
February
11th
we're
talking
about
something
called
CIP,
pee
and
health.
Explain
what
that
is,
is
Lara.
Biggs
are
City
Engineer
Lara
welcome.
Thank.
B
B
Pee
pee
refers
to
a
process
called
cured
and
place
pipelining.
We
utilize
that
to
fix
sewers
that
have
become
cracked
or
otherwise
degraded
so
periodically.
Our
city
staff
televises
the
sewers
under
the
city
streets
and
particularly
when
we're
about
to
resurface
a
street
they
make
sure
to
televise
it
and
find
any
degraded
sewers.
At
that
point,
if
the
sewer
has
cracks
in
it,
we
go
ahead
and
insert
a
fiberglass
liner
through
the
manhole
and
harden
it
to
form
a
new
pipe
inside
the
existing
pipe.
B
A
B
Put
a
camera
in
the
sewer
line,
we
have
a
camera
truck,
that's
designed
specifically
for
being
able
to
camera
sewers,
and
we
can
televise
sewers
of
all
sizes
up
to
about
36
inches
using
different
types
of
equipment
that
allows
us
to
be
able
to
see
if
a
sewer
is
in
need
of
a
repair
before
it
collapses
and
causes
a
sinkhole
in
the
middle
of
the
street.
So.
A
B
A
B
A
fiberglass
and
when
we
put
it
into
the
sewer,
it's
actually
soft
and
shaped
like
a
sock.
It's
we
use
steam
or
hot
water
to
invert.
It
push
it
against
the
sides
of
the
sewer
and
then
the
heat
from
those
steam
or
hot
water
actually
cures
the
new
pipe
in
place.
Then
we
go
in
with
a
little
robotic
cutter
and
just
cut
a
little
hole
where
every
service
used
to
be
does.
B
Saves
us
a
fortune
excavating
pipe
all
of
the
the
mess
and
the
work
and
time
and
labor
to
actually
excavate
the
street
and
patch
it
takes
months.
But
by
doing
the
CI
PP
lining,
we
can
do
a
small
sewer
in
a
very
short
period
of
time,
usually
just
hours
and
there's
almost
no
waste,
so
it's
very
environmentally
sustainable.
So.
