Present
war
heroes:
today
we
honor
you
and
your
families.
My
name
is
Sharat
Nathan,
keyers
and
I
am
the
fourth
district
commander
of
the
VFW
to
save
California
before
we
get
started,
I'd
like
to
take
a
moment.
So
now
it's
one
of
our
heroes,
who
has
recently
passed
mr.
William
Murphy
affectionately
known
as
bill.
B
Bill
was
a
veteran
commander
who
served
as
the
chair
of
the
England
War
Memorial,
as
you
see
here
that
the
hopless
Committee
for
many
years,
despite
the
health
challenges
he
faced.
Bill,
was
also
dedicated,
loyal
and
passionate
about
the
cities.
Mario
based
service
and
the
importance
of
acknowledging
families.

D
My
name's
Ralph
commando
pebbles,
21,
22
and
I'm
honored
to
be
here
master,
served
more
than
once
again.
Today's
memorial
service
admit
if
you
know
the
issue
of
this
moral
law,
monument
and
the
supportive
they
made
it
possible.
Today's
ceremony
marks
the
seventh
anniversary
of
the
building
of
this
monument.
It
is
fitting
that,
beyond
all
those
names
on
the
money,
man
and
all
veterans
of
our
community
today,
we
honor
our
nation
brave
servicemen
and
women,
especially
those
still
serving
our
country.

you
for
supporting
the
veterans
and
through
serving,
and
example,
all
sheep,
a
schism
to
all
men-
women,
our
military.
At
this
time,
I
want
to
invite
to
the
stage
mr.

the
Merc

to
entire
district
Japanese
will
provide
implication.
G
Uncover
but
before
I
give
the
open
prayer,
Cathy
and
Hattie,
and
that
found
me
there,
I'm
always
looking
to
my
left
looking
for
bill
to
be
dragons,
so
he's
looking
down
at
us,
dear
God,
as
we
approach
Memorial
Day
made
me
honor
and
remember
those
who
have
died
that
we
might
live
and
freedom
remember
how
the
party
loved
ones
gone
before
us,
those
we
honor,
we
part
of
our
everlasting.
Well,
oh
god,
we
might
have
a
great
love
for
us.
We'll
make
you
for
that
love.

I
I
You
know
every
year,
I
said.
I
I
I
Leader
of
northern
veterans
called
for
a
nationwide
Adler
of
remembrance
and
May
30th
1868
was
designated
for
the
purpose
of
stirring
the
flowers
or
otherwise
decorating
the
graves
of
comrades
who
died
in
defense
of
their
country.
James
Garfield,
the
politician
and
former
Union
general
smoke
on
the
first
decoration
day
at
Arlington,
National
Cemetery,
almost
150
years
later,
his
message
about
the
cost
of
our
Liberty,
the
sanctity
of
our
institutions
and
the
importance
of
national
unity
seem
intended
just
farmed
by
sometimes
that
we
have
right
now.
I
Garfield
was
not
only
a
war
hero
Statesman,
but
he
was
a
minister,
a
college
president
and
a
professor
who
taught
Greek
as
well
as
Latin
and
literature.
His
oratorical
skills
have
long
been
forgotten,
but
his
words
commemorating
the
following
should
not
be
lost.
He
asserted
that
they
died
in
defense
of
the
old
American
principle
that
follow
to
submission
and
obedience
to
the
lovely
Express
will
the
majority.
This
is
not
one
of
the
doctrines
of
our
political
system.
It
is
the
system
itself.
I
It
is
our
political
firmament
in
which
all
of
the
truths
are
set
as
the
stars
in
heaven
its
overthrow,
but
it
brought
such
ruin
as
might
follow
in
the
physical
universe
if
the
power
of
gravitation
were
destroyed.
According
to
Garfield,
the
Civil
War
began
dispute
over
the
results
of
an
election,
an
insight
worth
remembering
as
we
approach
Memorial
Day,
I
love.
I
We
would
do
well
to
remember
Garfield's
words
on
the
abiding
value
of
Americans
heroes,
I
love
to
believe
that
no
heroic
sacrifice
has
ever
lost,
though
the
characters
of
men
are
molded,
inspired
by
what
their
fathers
have
done
and
mothers
have
done.
The
treasure
up
in
American
souls
are
all
the
unconscious
influences
of
their
great
deeds.
Following
his
speech,
5,000
people
decorated
the
grace
of
the.
M
I
Six
months
after
his
election
in
1881
decoration
day
grabs
the
keynote
and
on
his
Memorial
Day,
with
the
advent
of
World
War
one,
it
was
changed
to
commemorate
American
military
personnel
who
died
in
all
wars.
It
became
a
federal
holiday
in
1971
this
year.
Let's
view
Memorial
Day,
not
simply
as
an
opportunity
for
a
long
weekend,
but
as.
I
Their
voices,
too,
will
forever
build
land
like
holy
benedictions
here.
Let
them
rest
asleep
on
the
nation's
heart
and
into
the
nation's
love,
but
while
they
sleep
in
our
nation's
love,
let
us
remain
awake.
For
eternal
vigilance
is
the
price
of
Liberty.
Thank
you
to
all
of
you
that
have
served.
Thank
you
for
your
families,
for
their
sacrifice.

I
just
want
to
say
happy
birthday
to
every
one
of
you
I'm,
so
grateful
that
you
served
and
I
am
so
grateful
for
those
who
paid
the
ultimate
sacrifice
and
I'm
here,
because
I
want
to
represent
all
of
those
who
didn't
have
a
test
coming
and
who
didn't
have
a
chance
to
serve.
We
really
appreciate
you
and
your
families
and
have
a
great
day
and
I
pray
for
all
those
who
passed
on.
O
So
good
morning,
everybody
welcome
to
the
70th
Memorial
Day
service
here
in
the
city
of
Inglewood.
I
just
wanted
to
take
a
moment
to
really
recognize
bill.
Murphy,
who
was
a
great
friend
of
mine.
They
know
at
his
house,
he's
always
a
picture
of
him
for
for
the
last
16
years.
He
used
to
remind
me
of
it
all
the
time,
so
we
can't
forget
our
US
veterans,
the
ones
who
paid
the
ultimate
for
sacrifice
and
we're
just
so
proud
to
play
a
small
role
once
a
year
to
recognize
them.
O
P
P
To
their
families
and
to
those
that
are
here
with
us
that
have
served
in
the
military
here
in
the
bride,
we
thank
you.
We
thank
you
for
your
service
and
we
thank
you
for
your
sacrifice
and
we
will
always
continue
to
keep
you
and
your
families
in
our
thoughts
and
prayers
and
may
God
continue
to
bless
all
of
us.
Thank
you.
M
D
D
I'm
done
they're
not
going
to
make
you
forget
yours,
I'm
gonna
read
it
for
you
so
that
we
can
keep
on
when
I
broke
forth
or
seven
years
ago
our
fathers
brought
forth
on
this
continent.
A
new
nation
conceived
in
Liberty
and
dedicated
to
the
proposition
that
all
men
are
created.
Equal
now
engaged
in
a
great
Civil
War
testing,
whether
that
nation
or
any.
D
D
Dedicate
we
cannot
consecrate,
we
cannot
hallow
this
ground,
the
brave
men
living
and
dead,
who
struggled
here,
have
consecrated
for
all
of
our
problems
to
add
and
distract
the
world
a
little
note
November
what
we
say
here,
but
it
can
never
be
forgotten.
What
they
did
here
is
for
us,
the
living
rather
to
be
dedicated
here
to
the
unfinished
work
with
thousand
foggier
thought
for
some
knows
advance.

This
is
the
day
that
we
set
aside
to
honor
those
who
have
made
the
ultimate

and
I'm
so
proud
of
you

It
just
says
one
thing:
you
didn't

you
honor
those
who've
made
of
this

for
all

AG
AG
This
is
very
special
because
each
time
each
year
that
I
come
I
learned
so
much
about
many
of
our
veterans
who
were
able
to
return
and
returned
back
to
their
communities
and
nothing
was
there
for
them.
The
housing
was
not
there.
The
jobs
were
not
there,
but
these
proud
serves
people
not
only
were
proud
of
a
service
that
they
rendered,
but
they
loved.
AG
They
proudly
honored,
not
only
the
country
but
honored
their
service,
and
they
kept
make
working
to
make
this
democracy
stronger
and
every
time
I
think
about
those
who
gave
in
their
lives
so
that
we
could
be
free
free
to
speak
our
minds
free
to
organize
free
to
petition
our
government.
All
of
those
who
made
the
ultimate
sacrifice.
AG
They
would
want
us
to
fight
to
make
sure
that
those
freedoms
or
appreciate
it
that
they're
recognized
now
I
know
but
I'm
going
to
share
something
with
you
that
I
have
not
talked
about
today.
You
must
wonder
what
is
going
on
and
why
she
in
DC
and,
of
course
the
uncertainty,
must
be
making
you
somewhat
uncomfortable
for
those
of
you
who
were
able
to
maintain
to
return
to
serve
and
to
continue
to
live
and
grow
and
prosper.
Etcetera,
I
know
that
you're
worried
that
our
democracy
is
in
trouble,
but
I.
Q
AG
I
want
you
to
know
no
matter
how
bleak
things
may
see
and
for
those
who
are
other
words
that
you
could
not
possibly
understand.
In
the
final
analysis,
then
the
microscope
democracy
is
going
to
stand.
Because
of
you
and
don't
worry
about
anybody
who
says
they
know
more
than
the
generals
they
go,
they
don't.
We
know
who
the
commander-in-chief
is,
but
we
also
know
that
we
are
protected
in
ways.
AG
I
want
to
thank
all
of
our
veterans
here
and
I.
Want
you
to
know
that
there
are
many
in
Congress
on
both
sides
of
the
aisle
who
are
fighting
for
you
every
day
and
that
we're
working
to
make
sure
that
the
services
are
strengthened
and
that
they
are
better
and
that
our
VA
will
honor
you
and
respond
to
you
where
you
have
concerns
about
disabilities,
etc.
I've
dedicated
one
person
on
my
side
to
do
nothing
but
take
care
of
veterans.
I
want
to
tell
you.
We
do
a
good
job.
AG
AG
And
so
again
we
have
been
making
the
rounds
today
and
it's
an
honor
to
do
this.
I
look
forward
to
it
every
year
and
you
know
wow.
You
know
many
of
my
friends
are
on
co
Dells
and
that's
what
happens
when
we're
on
great
they
travel
to
other
countries.
I,
don't
know
I'm
gonna
stay
in
this
country,
I'm
gonna
be
here
for
every
birthday.
I
can't
go
over
there.
Another
time
it
is
important
for
me
to
say
thank
you
to
our
veterans.
Thank
you
to
the
families
who
lost
members
serving
our
country.
AG
I'm,
proud
of
you,
I
love,
you
I
will
work
for
you
and
let
us
all
stand
strong
in
the
face
of
all
kind
of
adversity
and
say
we
shall
stand.
The
democracy
shall
be
strengthened.
Nobody
shall
undermine
or
tear
it
down.
We
don't
care
who
you
are.
No
one
is
so
big
and
powerful
that
you
don't
have
to
respect
the
law
of
the
land.
Thank
you.

It's
about
remembering
those
folks
who
made
the
ultimate

and
remembering
what
that
sacrifice
was
about.
It
was
not
about

but
what
that

the

the

the

Today
we
honor,
you
salute
our
brave
men
and
women
for
offering
up
the
ultimate
expression
of
love,
for
there
is
no
greater
love
than
this
that
a
person
might
lay
down
his
life
for
the
sake
of
his
friend
today
we
say
thank
you.
We
appreciate
you.
We
acknowledge
that
the
ideas
and
principles
that
we.
AJ
AJ
Mayor
injured
and
wounded
some
have
sacrificed
their
mental
health
because
of
the
trauma
that
they
have
experienced
in
conflict.
Many
have
lost
their
families
as
a
result
and
many
have
been
changed
forever.
As
the
executive
director
of
us
Betts
here
in
Englewood,
I,
see
this
every
day
and
I
can
tell
you
that
the
veterans
that
I
worked
with,
despite
the
many
adverse
experiences
they
have
had,
they
are
extremely
proud
of
their
service.
Given
the
opportunity,
many
would
choose
to
serve
again
despite
the
challenges
that.
J
AJ
Our
veterans
continue
to
face.
Many
of
them
would
still
choose
to
serve
again,
because
that
is
who
they
are.
They
are
givers.
They
represent
everything
that
is
good
about
us
as
a
country.
They
care
deeply
about
liberty
about
justice
and
they
would
defend
those
ideas
and
even
die
for
them
if
necessary.
AJ
AJ
AJ
In
my
line
of
work,
I
have
the
pleasure
of
speaking
with
and
meeting
a
lot
of
veterans
from
our
community
I
was
in
the
grocery
store,
actually
the
other
day
and
I
had
on
a
us,
vets,
t-shirt
and
video
man
at
the
deli.
Who
helped
me
stop
to
talk
to
me
about
some
of
the
problems
facing
veterans
and
he
knew
more
about
my
organization
than
I.

This
is
fast
becoming
a
human
rights
issue
and
as
a
country
we
should
be
concerned,
we
should
not
ever
find
ourselves
in
a
situation
where
we
are
discussing.
The
merit
of
providing
veterans
with
food
with
clothing,
with
housing
with
jobs
cannot
and
should
not
turn
our
backs
on
those
who
have
literally
given
up
everything.
AJ
AJ
I'm
reminded
of
one
of
the
veterans
who
came
through
my
program,
whose
job
and
the
service
was
to
go
back
and
retrieve
the
bodies
of
those
who
had
been
killed
in
combat
he
lives
with
those
images
every
day,
but
he's
still
proud
of
the
fact
that
he
didn't
leave.
Anyone
behind
his
job
was
to
bring
soldiers
home.
Yet
when
he
came
back,
he
had
no
home
makes
me
emotional
to
think
about
it.
Take
a
moment
to
just
really
think
about
it.
AJ
He
now
lives
in
his
own
apartment
and
even
though
we
have
gardeners
and
landscapers
and
people
that
we
pay
to
come
out-
and
you
know
make
the
place.
Look,
nice
he's
taken
it
upon
himself
to
plant
flowers
to
beautify
the
community,
because
he
recognizes
that
that
is
his
home.
He
continues
to
give
back
and
to
serve
and
he
does
it
free
of
charge
and
he
has
pride
in
what
he
does.

Just
so
grateful
to
be
a
part
of
a
community
again,
so
let
me
tell
you
a
little
bit
about
us
Beth
and
some
of
what
we
do.
Many
of
you
may
not
know
that
we're
located
right
here
in
Inglewood
we've
been
here
for
25
years,
we
celebrated
our
25th
anniversary
on
Friday
I'd,
like
to
thank
congresswoman
waters
and
Mayor
bucks
for
attending
that
event.
AJ
They
have
been
huge
supporters
of
us,
but
for
many
years
now
us
vets
is
now
the
largest
nonprofit
in
the
country,
providing
veterans,
specific
services
that
include
transitional
housing,
permanent
housing,
case
management
and
employment
services.
We
can
accommodate
nearly
600
veterans
at
a
time
our
site.
AJ
AJ
Also
provide
supportive
services
two
to
four
hundred
individuals
living
in
either
transitional
or
permanent,
supportive
housing.
We
offer
services
to
veterans
in
the
community
through
our
workforce
programs
and
also
through
our
supportive
services
for
veterans
with
families
program
through
that
program
were
able
to
offer
rapid,
rehousing,
temporary
financial
assistance
to
low-income
and
at-risk
veterans
and
their
families.
We
also
do
a
community
dinner,
the
last
Thursday
of
every
month,
and
so,
if
you're,
a
veteran
who'd
like
to
join
us
you're
welcome.
AJ
Residential
sites
across
the
country,
nine
service,
centers
in
13
cities
and
five
states.
Last
year
we
serve
20,000
veterans
nationally,
1,400
received
workforce
services
and
jobs
over
8,500
were
contacted
by
our
research
teams.
Over
6,500
I
went
through
transitional
housing
and
permanent
housing
programs.
Over
3,300
families
served
with
low-income
over
250
thousand
men
and
women
received
mental
health
assessments
and
also
counseling
sessions.
These
veterans
represent
our
sons,
our
daughters,
our
mothers,
fathers,
brothers
and
sisters
and
each
have
served
our
country.
We
share
both
the
pride
and.
AJ
AJ
And
believe
that
we
have
an
obligation
to
help,
protect
and
serve
those
who
have
protected
us
and
closing
I
want
to
say
that
everything
that
we
hold
near
and
dear
to
us
was
bought
at
a
price.
Our
country
may
not
be
perfect,
but
it
is
imperfectly
ours.
We
may
not
always
agree
on
what
we
are
fighting
for.
We
may
not
always
agree
on
who
should
be
the
commander
in
chief.
We
may
not
agree
on.
AJ
Obligation
to
do
so,
but
it
is
that
fundamental
right
to
disagree,
the
right
to
have
an
opinion,
the
right
to
change
the
things
that
we
don't
like
that
makes
this
the
greatest
country
on
the
planet.
We
are
forever
indebted
to
the
servicemen
and
women
who
put
their
lives
on
the
line.
Some
gave
the
ultimate
sacrifice
to
safeguard
our
freedom,
and
today
we
just
honor
you-
and
we
thank
you.
God
bless
you
and
have
a
wonderful
day.

Remember
when
we
couldn't
stand
each
other
and
he
would
come
to
my
town
halls
and
disrupt
it
and
I
also
remember
when
he
fell
in
love
with
me
and
I
want
you
to
know,
or
we
can
sometimes
be
different
philosophically,
maybe
not
even
belong
to
the
same
parties
but
I
want
you
to
know
this.
Is
the
honorary
mayor
of
Inglewood
Willie
I
see?
Thank
you
very
much.
G
And
I'm
kind
of
misty-eyed
myself
and
I'm,
looking
at
a
young
lady
in
the
back
Kathy
Martinez,
who
I'm
always
looking
to
my
left
to
think
that
bill
does
feel
gonna
drive
up
and
touch
us
today.
So
what
I
want
you
to
do
for
me
especially
grab
your
neighbors
by
the
hand,
because
this
young
lady
is
continue
to
carry
on
the
legacy
of
bill
Murphy.
G
It's
not
easy
when
you
lose
a
loved
one,
but
you
can't,
as
you
look
at
Memorial,
it
says:
memories,
memories,
Almighty,
God,
Father,
help
us
remember
that
freedom
does
not
automatic
for
tray
itself
that
we
have
to
work
for
it.
We
have
the
nurturer
protected
and
pray
for
it.
Free
of
life,
faith
needs
our
attention
and
our
cooperation
Lord
be
with
us
to
strengthen
us
above
us,
keep
us
to
attacked
us
beneath
of
the
polis.
G
D
Back
in
right
before
we
conclude
I
want
to
thank
everyone
who
participated
in
today's
Memorial
Day
program,
especially
I
want
to
thank
the
mayor
and
city
council
in
fall.
You
know
for
everything
you
do
for
the
better
for
the
city,
this
special
ceremony
would
not
be
possible
without
your
President
did
give
yourself
around
with
Paul
Revere.
D
Thank
you
again
to
all
our
veterans
for
serving
and
for
being
here
we
appreciate
each
and
every
one
it
immediately
after
this
program,
we
invite
you
to
the
community
room,
which
is
to
my
right
for
much
now,
remember
the
diagrams
and
pulse
to
five
to
colorguard,
prepared
to
retrieve
the
coast.
Everyone
please
stand.
D
Thank
you,
everyone
for
coming
to
join
us
today.
This
concludes
the
city
of
Englewood
70th
annual
Memorial
Day
program.
If
you
would
like
to
get
involved,
the
city
would
like
to
have
you
meet
and
have
we
join
the
immoral
community?
If
you
would
like
to
please
contact
the
library
service
department,
Parks
and
Recreation
have
a
wonderful
day
and
we'll
see
you
next
year.
