Description
Veterans Affairs Committee Meeting, 06/13/2023
C
Heavenly
Father
we
visiting
to
blast
this
assembly
report.
We
pray
for
your
guidance
in
our
deliverance
that
we
make
exemplify
the
principles
and
purposes
of
our
task
they're
supposed
to
be
done
and
we
pray
to
your
blessings,
be
our
silent,
watchful
Guardian,
like
the
breeze
in
the
trees,
the
sun,
through
the
sky.
We
ask
your
protection
and
guidance,
bless
us
with
your
presence
and.
D
C
Us
with
our
counsel,
make
our
sacred
mission
to
honor
you
and
those
selfless
who
gave
without
hesitation.
We
associate
ourselves
to
recognize
a
worthwhile
Endeavor
to
preserve
the
memory
of
those
who
have
sacrificed
and
guaranteed
a
life
of
Liberty
Freedom
Pursuit
of
Happiness
justice.
For
all,
as
we
stand
in
reverence,
let
us
remember
the
good
we
have
done
and
as
forgiveness
of
what
we
have
failed
to
do
is
those
who
fought
and
died
for
us.
C
A
D
E
E
E
A
A
On
the
communications
before
I
fall
on
the
items
on
the
communications
I'd
like
to
make
an
announcements
and,
as
you
know,
I'm
recovering
from
a
hip
replacement
and
I
have
an
Uber
ride,
driver
so
I'd
like
to
introduce
her
to
see
them
back
there,
and
she
also
happens
to
be
my
wife,
the
Pretty
Woman,
a
pretty
young
lady
by
the
name
of
cookie
she's,
been
my
Uber
driver
for
the
last
month
or
so
happy
birthday
yeah.
She
just
had
a
birthday.
A
First,
item
on
the
communication
is
Maltese
and
Lena's
on
upcoming
5K
run.
F
Right
for
the
record,
president
of
black
widows,
LTX
I'm,
actually
going
to
talk
about
a
food
drive
that
we're
we're.
We
already
started
yesterday,
I,
don't
know
if
we
can
put
this
up.
D
A
F
All
right,
so
we
started
this
food
drive
for
dogs
and
cats
yesterday
and
we
are
working
with
the
gym
Legacy.
It's
a
local
like
I
mean
it's
a
local
gym
here
in
Laredo,
there's
two
locations,
one
by
Shiloh
and
then
the
other
one
on
Saunders,
so
we're
collecting
food
for
homeless
or
straight
dogs
and
cats.
F
And
then
any
donation
will
go
towards
and
every
time
you
bring
a
bag
or
something
we
will
enter
your
name
into
a
raffle.
And
then
you
have
the
chance
to
at
a
free
month,
membership
right
to
go,
walk
or
you
know,
get
some
get
a
little
bus
yeah.
F
So
we're
trying
to
get
this
done,
and
it's
going
to
run
from
yesterday,
June
12th
through
the
first
of
July
and
we're
just
trying
to
get
collect
as
much
as
we
can
to
help
these
dogs
they're
they're
about
50
dogs
that
were
saved
from
a
woman's
house,
they're
about
to
be
euthanized
and
the
owner
actually
saved
them
and
she's
been
trying
to
get
them
adopted.
She's
been
feeding
them,
she's
been
doing
everything
out
of
pocket
it.
F
So
you
know,
like
I,
found
out
I'm
trying
to
help
we're
trying
to
help
their
the
the
costs
about
the
5K.
It's
also
going
to
go
towards
this,
but
we're
it's
still
in
the
works.
So
we'll
talk
about
this.
If
we
get
another
chance,
so
we're
asking
you
the
community
for
any
help
any
you
know
sharing
and
sharing
the
flyer
sharing
with
your
friends
just
so
we
can
get
these
dogs
some
help
and
get
them
into
a
house
that
you
know
loving
family.
F
Like
I
mentioned
it's
at
the
gym,
Legacy
and
they
have
a
shadow
location
and
then
they
have
a
Saunders
location.
It's
there
next
to
Lin's
Buffet,
it's
right
next
to
it
and
then
on
Shiloh,
it's
it's
by
next
to
the
BP
station
on
Shiloh
and
you
can
just
go
in
and
then
drop
off.
It's
right
there
on
the
front
desk.
You.
A
Know
my
family
and
our
business
has
been
involved
with
helping
with
saving
some
of
the
Dogs
Out
forever.
So
you're
welcome
to
put
something
there
to
play
more
or
jet.
A
So
we've
been
involved
with
with
this
program:
I
saw
and
I
have
grandkids
my
wife,
you
just
send
one
to
she's
in
Buffalo,
New
York
right
now
really
yeah.
They
took
all
the
way
over
there.
So
yeah
we're
very
involved
with.
A
Welcome
to
two
years
old
locations.
F
B
A
H
J
B
For
the
record,
I
just
want
to
thank
everybody
who
participated
at
the
Memorial
Day
event.
Everybody
fished
in
you
know
to
make
it
a
successful,
Memorial,
Day
and
I.
Just
am
up
here
to
thank
everybody
that
participated
with
the
name
calling
in
with
a
with
the
unveiling
of
the
of
The
Monuments,
and
we
received
quite
a
few
compliments
that
it
was
a
very
nice
Memorial,
Day
event
and
I
want
to
thank
everybody
who
participated
and
made
it
a
successful
one.
Thank
you.
Thank.
A
You,
but
you
know
there
was
a
lot
of
people
involved.
Yes,
but
I
normally,
don't
speak
for
everybody,
but
I
believe
that
I
can
speak
for
everybody
all
the
veterans
this
time.
As
for
the
work
that
you
did
and
the
people
that
were
involved
around
here
to
to
make
this
thing
that
the
way
the
success
that
it
was
so
we
want
to.
Thank
you
also
for
all
the
hard
work
you've
done
for
our
veterans.
B
Thank
you
and
I
do
need
to
extend
the
the
thanks
to
parks
and
right
parks
and
Leisure,
also
Laredo
Parks,
Anita
Stanley,
who
without
them
you
know
all
the
setup
because
of
them.
You
know
they
they
get
an
outstanding
job
in
setting
up
the
tents,
the
shares
everything
you
know
and
I'm
very
thankful
to
them,
because
because
so
then
we
had
a
real
good
sitting
and
a
lot
of
shape
and
David.
Thank
him.
A
You
know
what
what
this
means
is.
A
legacy
of
the
veterans
will
continue
forever
and
that's
what
we're
trying
to
do
and
with
all
these
people
that
we've
named
that
have
made
coming
in
a
success,
the
the
improvements
that
had
happened
for
for
years
and
years,
most
veterans
didn't
even
know
that
we
had
a
Veteran
Cemetery.
A
It
was
a
just,
a
hey
Clinton.
You
know
that
that
was
there,
but
it
wasn't
really
being
paid
attention
the
way
it
is
now.
So
it's
because
of
people
that
got
it
and
and
top
cartoon
that
got
started,
and
then
the
module
started
rolling
that,
and
it
is
our
responsibility
in
my
view,
that
we
continue
to
remember
all
those
Warriors
that
made
this
nation
the
way
it
is
so.
Thank
you
and
thank
everybody
that
was
involved.
A
Let
the
record
reflect
that
we
have
Council,
lady
Figueroa
and
Vanessa
Perez
president.
A
K
Hi
Richard
geissler
for
the
record
from
Valor
I'd
like
to
just
catch
you
up,
because
it's
I'm
sorry
got
COPD
and
I'm
having
a
little
another
product.
They
could
die.
Okay,
where
the
museum
now
is
considered.
The
name
is
the
Laredo
Veterans
Museum
in
the
beginning.
That's
what
we
chose,
but
we
couldn't
use
it
because
when
we
went
to
get
our
501c
they
told
us,
we
couldn't
use
the
word
veterans.
Then,
in
the
year
2020
the
veterans
of
oil
Wars
of
Texas
said
that
they
approved
us
using
the
word
veteran.
K
K
K
Now
the
county
is
on
it
and
they're
submitting
it
to
Texas
historical
and
once
that's
approved,
then
we
can
go
out
for
contracts
to
fix
the
house
and
it's
not
as
bad
as
some
people
have
said.
It's.
It's
really
very
fixable
and
again
now
that
we've
seen
the
real
finalization
of
downtown
we're
seeing
the
border
patrol
with
37
million
on
the
river,
which
is
what
two
blocks
away:
foreign
Church.
K
They
just
spent
10
million
and
refurbishing
it
we're
in
the
heart
of
the
historical
district
and
I
read
in
an
article
and
someone
was
quoted
as
saying
we
should
start
small
and
build
well.
This
is
perfect
and
we're
in
the
heart
of
the
historical
district
and
as
soon
as
the
paperwork
comes
that
we
can
submit
it
to
the
state
the
state
comes
and
approves
because
it
is
a
historical
building.
It
was
built
in
1840,
we
can
go
forward
and
we're
now
have
valor's
a
501.
K
We
we
haven't
gotten
some
donations
and
we're
in
the
process
of
now
revamping
because,
as
you
all
know,
Dakota
got
everybody
and
it
just
cut
it
down
from
when
we
started
the
group
that
started
working
on
the
museum
together.
We've
lost
eight
of
our
brothers
and
that's
how
long
we've
been
at
it,
and
so
any
help
would
be
appreciated,
but
know
that
it
is
going
forward
that
the
hurdles
have
been
overcome
and
everybody
is
in
an
agreement.
But
at
least
it's
a
start.
K
Yes-
and
there
was
a
ceremony
of
Richard
Raymond,
it
was
and
10
years,
10
years
ago,
we've
been
at
this
first.
We
started
the
veterans
and
coalition
and
they,
if
our
es
family,
allowed
us
to
use
that
house
at
the
time-
and
we
all
know
the
story
of
the
Coalition,
but
at
the
time
it
did
good.
It
did
what
we're
seeing
open
veterans
with
the
rains
with
food,
with
doctors,
we're
taking
them
up
to
San
Antonio.
K
A
A
Going
to
happen
because
it
was
named
a
historical
commission-
is
that
any
work
done
has
to
be
with
material
that
depicts
that
era.
When
that
building
was
there
and
those
are
some
of
the
obstacles
that
had
happened,
and
that
is
an
issue
that
needed
to
be
resolved
because
we
weren't
sure
whether
it
was
named
as
a
historical
site
or
not
and
I
know
when
we
restored
the
Brooke
County
Courthouse
I
mean
we
had
a
lot
of
growing
pains
in
trying
to
find.
K
Agreed
in
this
historical
is
very
much
anything.
That's
why
we're
held
on
now
over
renderings
of
doors
and
windows,
but
it's
overcome,
commissioner
Galo,
as
I've
been
told,
is
really
pushing
hard
to
get
that
done
and
they've
had
an
architect,
that's
going
to
submit
it.
So
it's
in
the
the
ball's
rolling.
A
But
we
appreciate
you
updated
Mr
Cash.
Is
there
any
discussion?
Any
questions
for
Mr
counselor
I
have
an
update
when.
A
E
K
To
take
well,
that's
there's
half
a
million
from
the
city
and
halfway
down
here
from
the
county,
and
now
we
had
people
like
maybe
arrested.
Frank's
tag
has
donated
money
to
the
cause
and
that's
why
we
didn't
Valor
to
be
able
to,
because
somebody's
got
to
put
the
people
together
that
are
going
to
search
out
the
stories
that
are
going
to
do
the
research
they're
going
to
keep
the
library
going
and
turn
the
lights
on,
and
so
it's
more
than
just
we're
ready
to
hand
it
off.
Okay,
okay,.
G
For
the
record,
my
name
is
shroud
I'm,
with
Texas
veterans,
commission
I'm,
the
Healthcare
Advocate
in
Laredo,
Outpatient,
Clinic
and
I'm
gonna
present
what
Texas,
Women's,
Veterans
Day
is
and
I
will
have
a
PowerPoint
presented
to
you
in
a
later
date.
I'll
email
it
to
you.
So
we
can
share
it
with
everyone.
G
Unfortunately,
the
photographer
was
not
able
to
get
me
the
photos
on
time,
so
I
don't
want
to
share
the
the
PowerPoint
half
done,
but
I
will
read
out
the
name
of
the
women
veterans
that
provided
their
information
to
me,
and
some
of
them
are
here
so
at
the
end,
I'd
like
them
to
stand
up
and
take
a
photo.
If
you
all
don't
mind,
okay,.
G
Sorry
commemorate
the
service
of
women,
Veterans
of
the
State
of
Texas.
Today,
Mark
yesterday
marked
75
years
since
the
women
since
women
armed
services
inauguration
Act,
was
signed
into
law
by
President
Harry
S
Truman.
We
would
like
to
take
a
second
to
honor
and
recognize
all
women
Veterans
for
their
service
to
the
great
nation
and
the
state
of
Texas.
We
hope
you
enjoy
one
of
the
many
events
hosted
across
the
state
to
celebrate.
G

that's
all
the
ones
that
I
have
for
right
now
and
then
I
will
get
that
video
out
to
all
of
you.
As
soon
as
I
have
the
photographer
send
me
those
photos
so
I
can
give
you
a
complete
video
of
everyone
and
I'd
like.

A
A
So
do
we
have
any
any
discussion
questions
comments
on
this
item
with
none
so
well.
Thank
you
very
much.
Ladies.
A
We
appreciate
you
so
much
like
I
said
it
is
a
special
day
as
far
as
this
committee
is
concerned,
because
we
have
been
trying
to
get
you
involved
as
much
as
possible
and
it's
actually
happening
next
item
on
the
agenda.
We
have
Ricardo
quijano
on
Military
Appreciation
Day
at
the
upcoming
Laredo
Heats
soccer
game.
M
Good
morning,
my
name
is
actually
good
afternoon.
Yes
good
afternoon,
council
members
committee,
so
on
leono
on
June
28th,
the
VFW
has
coordinated
with
the
Laredo
Heat
to
have
a
military
appreciation
to
All,
Veterans
and
service
members
in
our
community
to
attend
it's
going
to
be
like
I,
said:
June
28th.
This
game
starts
at
8
o'clock
in
the
evening.
M
It
is
like
I
said
free
to
enter
veteran
service
members,
plus
one
with
a
with
an
ID
okay,
kids
under
12
also
go
in
free.
As
long
as
you
bring
like
a
t-shirt,
that's
red
represent
L'oreal
heat.
Those
are
their
colors.
We
decided
to
also
go
with
Laredo
heat
because
of
what
they
do
for
the
community,
what
they
do
for
the
community.
If
you
see
the
Laredo
heat,
they
have
the
youth
program
and
we're
seeing
a
lot
of
Youth
kids,
boys
and
girls
growing
up
and
excelling
in
the
sport
of
soccer.
M
Just
recently,
the
youth,
kids,
12
and
under
just
won
their
state
championship,
and
we
want
to
support
Laredo
heat
and
show
the
players
that
we
care
for
them
by
attending
by
attending.
It
motivates
also
the
players
that
the
community
cares
about
them
and
waiting
to
go,
and
hopefully
the
ones
that
go
with
the
first
time
can
go
and
support
also
the
community
here.
They
already
know
it
at
the
same
time.
At
the
same
time,
there's
the
place
is
at
tamiu,
Soccer
Complex
soccer
field,
and
it's
BYOB
I
know.
M
A
A
Next
item
and
agenda,
we
have
a
VA
clinic
for
information
on
services
and
upcoming
events
by
Crystal
cavito.
H
Hi
good
afternoon
for
the
record
for
sending
information
on
the
VA
Clinic
I'll
start
off.
With
last
time
we
met.
We
talked
about
the
optical
Tech
that
we
had
in
the
facility.
We
are
now
at
100
running.
So
what
that
means
that
usually
well
in
the
past,
you
had
to
go
to
Gaylord
to
get
your
glasses.
That
is
no
longer.
In
effect,
you
would
only
go
to
Galo
for
your
prescription
and
your
eye
exam.
H
The
prescription
that
is
given
to
you
will
now
be
returned
back
into
our
facility,
which
we
do
have
an
on-site
optometrist
tech
there
with
glasses
to
provide
for
you,
so
you'll
be
getting
those
on
site.
Any
prescriptions,
or
anything
that
has
to
do
with
your
glasses
will
be
done
on
site.
Now
does
not
have
to
go
to
Galo
and
that
contract
with
the
Gaylord
glass
will
be
terminated
at
the
end
of
the
at
the
month.
So
for
now
anybody
has
any
questions
on
that.
No
okay,
the
other
thing
that
I
want
to
bring
up.
H
H
Of
that
we
do
have
a
couple
events
coming
up.
We
have
a
food
drive
that
we
have
been
scheduled
for
this
Thursday
I
am
looking
for
volunteers
to
help.
We
usually
have
either
our
Walmart
volunteers
or
our
jrtc.
Unfortunately,
we
don't
have
school
right
now,
so
the
jrtc
are
out
on
which
locations
and
we
haven't
gotten
an
answer
back
from
our
Walmart
volunteers.
H
So
I
am
asking
if
anybody
is
willing
to
come
help,
it
starts
at
nine
and
it's
until
the
supplies
last.
So
it's
our
facility
in
our
facility,
4602,
North,
Bartlett
and
we'll
be
doing
food
drive
for
all
veterans
that
have
an
ID.
Just
if
you
want
to
come
help
just
come
out
and
help
out
an
hour
30
minutes,
whatever
you
could
give
I
would
truly
appreciate
it.
We
also
have
a
hot
dog
drive
and
celebration
of
Fourth
of
July
we're
going
to
be
doing
that
on
June
29th.
H
It's
just
going
to
be
we're
going
to
be
providing
hot
dogs
for
all
veterans,
drinks
and
chips,
and
it's
going
to
just
be
a
drive-through
just
drive
through
pick
up
your
plate
and
we're
going
to
start
that
at
11
30
in
the
afternoon
time
for
those
that
get
out
for
lunch
and
just
want
to
pick
up
until
supplies
last
as
well,
that's
June
29th,
and
then
we
already
also
have
scheduled
our
Veterans
Day
resource
celebrations.
H
We
usually
that's,
usually
one
of
my
biggest
events
in
our
facility
and
I
have
that
scheduled
for
November
9th.
So
we're
going
to
be
asking
several
of
our
organizations
to
come
out:
do
a
resource,
fair
or
whatever
they
want
to
donate.
Last
year
we
were
able
to
provide
gift
cards.
H
H
The
next
meeting,
I'll
have
more
of
a
list
of
what
we
have
planned
and
who
will
be
coming
out,
and
the
last
thing
that
I
have
on
my
agenda
is,
and
the
good
thing
that
I
have
from
the
Salva
this
year
is
that
we
do
have
now
a
Whole
Health
department
and
what
that
provides
is
yoga
taishi
and
we
started
art
classes
as
well
right,
we
do
have
a
do.
I
Hi
everyone
Christy
Luna
Alvarez,
as
Miss
cavito
just
mentioned,
we
do
have
in
person
yoga
and
taishi
classes
at
the
clinic
in
room
8106.
The
yoga
is
chair
yoga
we
use
chair,
we
use
a
chair
just
because
some
of
us
cannot
have
a
lot
of
movement
range.
So
we
do
use
the
the
chair.
The
service
is
provided
at
9
00
am
and
then
we
also
have
a
Tai
Chi
class.
That
starts
at
12
o'clock.
We
have
everything
in
the
clinic.
I
We
have
Waters,
we
have
towels,
we
have
yoga
mats
in
case
we
need
them.
We
provide
everything
as
well
as
we
also
have
in
a
mindful
a
meditation
class
that
started
last
week.
That's
at
11
A.M
and
at
11
20..
We
have
chairs.
We
have
five
chairs
very
nice
chairs
that
we
just
got
for
the
for
the
clinic.
It's
first
sir
first
come
first
serve
for
those
chairs,
and
then
we
also
have
on
Wednesdays.
We
have
art
class.
The
VA
has
been
kind
enough
to
provide
us
with
tools
and
equipment.
H
I
E
Have
a
question:
thank
you,
sir
question.
Go
ahead
too
much
about
missing
the
lab
work.
You
guys
do
very
good
job
at
calling
us
a
day
or
two
before
I
mean
I,
get
the
phone
call
right.
H
So,
unfortunately,
we
still
do
have
some
patients
that
don't
show
up
for
lab
work
that
does
not
provider
doesn't
listen
to
you.
That
only
means
that
we're
not
going
to
be
able
to
give
you
the
service
at
100,
because
they
cannot
review
their
lives
and
that's
what
we
try
to
explain
to
our
veterans
that
come
in
without
Labs
providers
are
still
able
to
see.
If
you
choose
to
have
that
visit,
because
if
you
have
a
personal
situation
that
you
want
to
speak
to
your
provider,
your
appointment
is
still
there.
H
However,
the
appointment
is
not
going
to
be
100
effective.
If
we
don't
give
you
those
lab
results
for
yourself,
so
we
asked
that
and
I
don't
I
do
know
that
we
have
a
situation
with
the
veterans
that
are
in
Zapata
that
have
to
drive
here
an
hour
to
get
their
Labs
the
week
prior
I
am
looking
into
getting
a
Contracting
facility
in
Zapata,
so
they
are
able
to
go
and
get
their
Labs
there
and
then
we'll
just
get
the
records.
However,
it's
a
work
in
progress,
so
I
am
working.
H
A
H
You
just
come
in
just
show
up
and
in
the
front
I'm
usually
out
there.
Usually
it
starts
at
nine,
but
people
line
up
already
at
like
six
o'clock
in
the
morning,
so
I'll
be
out
there
by
eight
and
we'll
just
set
up
to
start
getting
everything
prepared.
So
the
drive
could
go,
it's
just
a
drive-through
and
we
have
everybody,
just
put
it
in
the
cars
and
they
could
drive
out.
But.
D
H
A
H
L
A
H
A
Yes,
yes,
but
I
also
like
to
ask
you
Mr
video
I
know
that
you've
been
in
charge
of
the
local
VA
since,
when.
A
Would
you
enlight
us
and
tell
us
just
the
increase
of
numbers
of
veterans,
I
have
applied
or
whatever
so.
H
When
I
first
took
over
the
facility,
we
were
at
1700
veterans
right
now
we
are
at
2
800.
Unfortunately,
with
Kobe
we
did
lose
a
lot
of
our
veterans,
so
our
numbers
dropped,
but
we
are
now
looking
into
increasing
again.
We
have
been
a
lot
advertising
a
lot
more
you'll.
Be
surprised
how
many
veterans
don't
even
know
that
our
facility
is
here
and
that
they
could
qualify
for
that.
H
So
we
are
I,
have
paired
up
with
Mr
quijano
to
put
out
that
information
to
all
of
our
national
guard
or
or
veterans
that
are
just
coming
out
of
the
service
to
kind
of
provide
that
information
some
might
not
qualify,
but
we
also
guide
them
to
go
to
Mr
Garza
kind
of
guide
them
on
how
to
be
able
to
get
and
with
the
pack
act.
Now
a
lot
of
more
veterans
are
able
to
get
the
services,
so
we
have
increased
over
12
hundred
veterans.
H
We
still
have
a
lot
more
to
go,
so
that's
the
reason
that
we
are
increasing
and
our
providers,
as
I
mentioned
in
the
last
meeting,
we
I
started
with
three
providers.
Now
we're
up
to
five
providers.
We
have
the
15
that
has
been
approved
and
currently
recruiting
for
another
MD.
Once
we
get
that
we'll
have
the
15
going
and.
A
Just
how
many
veterans
we
have
not
only
in
Webb
County,
but
the
surrounding
area
that
you
cover
and
and
I
know
that
this
committee
has
has
put
forth
a
lot
of
work
and
on
a
lot
of
different
areas
where
one
of
them
is
trying
to
increase
the
membership
at
a
local
VA,
and
it
is,
it
is
good
to
hear
that
it
is
increasing,
but
we're
not
nearly
close
I
mean
how
many
do
you
have
an
estimate
or
a
figure
of
I
know
that
it's
very
difficult
to
pinpoint
it.
J
So
we're
about
nine
thousand
total
in
the
area,
so
we're
talking
about
area
but,
however,
not
a
whole
lot
of
them
are
not
necessarily
registered
at
the
VA
clinic
and
a
lot
of
those
of
the
9000
plus
or
minus,
don't
even
apply
for
benefits.
The
way
we
the
way
they
are
tracked
is
when
they
get
out
of
the
service.
J
They
have
a
home
of
record
and
if
they're,
coming
back
to
the
homo
record,
that's
how
they're
tracking
the
numbers
and
either
increase
or
decrease
there's
when
they
move
out
and
they're
getting
Services
of
Laredo.
That's
how
the
numbers
decrease
with
that
or
if
they
pass
away,
and
they
request
a
headstone
from
Arlington
National
Cemetery.
That's
how
they're
removed
from
this
area,
but
not
everybody
that
lives
here
in
the
or
in
the
surrounding
area
of
this
area,
necessarily
apply
for
services,
whether
it
be
education,
health
benefits.
H
Unfortunately,
the
stigma
is
that
a
lot
of
the
younger
veterans
always
think
and
try
to
include
myself
in
that
prior
to
me,
working
in
the
VA
that
I
don't
need
the
services
as
much
as
the
elderly
needs
of
services.
But
the
reality
is
that
the
services
are
there
for
every
veteran
that
qualifies
and
the
reason
that
we
continue
to
grow.
Our
our
Primary
Care
to
be
able
to
facilitate
the
services
for
everybody
that
qualifies
and
ideas
for
the
elderly
and.
A
That's
why
I
bring
this
out
because
and
as
everybody
knows,
how
I
address
the
Veterans
as
Warriors
and
and
the
younger
veterans,
I
call
them
Young
Warriors
and
we
are
the
Vietnam
veterans,
probably
know
more
about
our
health.
The
theory
is,
as
we
get
older
and
you
are
going
to
be
there
at
one
time
or
another,
maybe
not
as
bad
as
some
of
us
Vietnam
veterans.
A
So
we
are
going
to
end
up
having
to
need
some
some
health
care,
and
that's
why
especially
I,
but
not
necessarily
just
me-
have
pushed
to
to
improve
the
numbers
at
your
facility,
our
facility
of
the
VA,
because
we're
going
to
need
it.
We
are
others
need
it.
I'm
under
care
right
now
and
I
can
tell
you.
I
got
the
best
care
that
I
could
have
gotten
and
I.
Thank
you
for
that
and
I
know.
B
Okay,
Crystal,
because
this
is
all
we
have
for
the
record,
what
are
the
complaints
that
I
received
from
some
veterans
and
they
were
asking
me
to
see
if
I
can
contact
Henry
cuella?
You
know
it's
in
regards
to
the
lab
work
regarding
the
male
PSA
tests.
It's
not
included
in
our
lab
work
and
one
of
the
veterans
asked.
B
She
said
that
they
don't
include
it
because
it
increases
the
cost
of
the
lab
work.
This
particular
veteran
good
friend
of
mine
he's
in
our
coffee
group.
He
requested
that
to
have
that
PSA
test.
They
told
him
that
they
couldn't
do
it,
because
it's
only
held
like
once
a
year
or
something
like
that.
Okay,
so
he
went
to
his
private
doctor.
B
B
B
H
So,
as
a
veteran
and
a
patient
in
our
Clinic,
it
is
your
right
to
ask
for
that,
but
not
from
the
lab
technician,
because
they
don't
have
any
authority
over
your
panel.
So
you
would
have
to
ask
that
from
your
provider,
so
they
could
submit
the
order.
So
when
you
go
see
your
provider
say,
I
want
to
have
this.
This
lab
done.
If
that's
something
that
you
choose,
believe
it
or
not,
a
lot
of
veterans
might
not
want
to
have
those
right.
So
we
cannot
assume
that
everybody
wants
to
have
that.
B
D
H
However,
we
could,
if
we
look
at
numbers,
if
I
had
a
lot
of
veterans
if
I
had-
let's
say
75
percent
of
the
veterans
saying
this
is
what
we
need,
that
I
could
look
at
that
and
bring
it
up
to
the
higher
level.
But
if
I
only
have
a
handful
of
veterans,
if
I
had
27
and
only
have
five,
then
that's
not
something
that
I
could
bring
up.
B
Automatic
six
months.
H
I
could
bring
it
up
to
our
chief
medical
officer
and
then
he
could
review
that
with
a
higher
and
then
I
could
come
back
and
let
you
know
this
is
that's.
Why
I
like
to
have
this
discussions,
because
when
situations
like
this
happen,
then
I
could
always
go
back
and
say:
hey.
This
is
a
situation
that
came
up.
Can
we
look
into
it
right
and
that
doesn't
necessarily
say
that
it's
gonna
happen,
but
they
definitely
look
into
it,
because
if
we
don't
know
about
it,
then
I
can't
bring
it
up.
H
J
J
J
H
A
And
and
that's
exactly
why
we
have
this
committee
to
be
able
to
get
the
access
to
information
like
this.
You
know
that
it's
not
denied,
but
all
you
have
to
do
is
just
request
it
and
it
should
be
granted
right
and-
and
that's
what
we're
all
about
you
know
final
time
and
make
it
better
to
to
improve
the
quality
of
life.
Yes,.
B
This
community
I
was
going
to
send
in
a
request
to
congressman,
to
make
it
a
congressional
inquiry
with
the
coastal
Valley
to
include
PSA
test
every
six
months
for
all
male
veterans,
especially
the
ones
that
fought
in
Iraq,
Afghanistan
and
Vietnam
because
of
that
burnt
piece
and
all
that
which
is
causing
a
lot
of
cancer.
Okay.
Well-
and
that's-
that
was
my
main
point
well,.
A
A
remembers
of
this
committee-
can
go
to
the
organization
and
as
a
membership,
this
question:
do
you
want
to
include
the
PSA
Exam
on
your
blood
test
and
then
we
can
come
back
here
put
in
the
agenda
and
discuss
it
board
on
it,
and
then
we
can
present
Miss
Carlito
with
some
real
information
from
14
different
veteran
service
organizations.
That
say
we
want
this
to
happen.
Well,
we
don't
want
it,
we
just
stay.
You
know
we
request
it
as
needed,
but
that
would
that
work
and
help
you
out
I.
H
B
D
E
H
Today
and
six
months,
you're
going
to
see
your
provider
just
let
them
know
that
the
next
time
you
see
your
provider,
you
want
to
do
that
or
you
could
always
send
a
secure
message
to
your
team
and
saying
hey
I'm,
requesting
this
there's
something
that
we
can
do
and
then
your
team
will
get
back
with
you
and
say:
okay,
we
have
scheduled
you
to
be
able
to
do
that
now.
Remember!
The
labs
are
good
for
60
days.
H
So
after
the
60
days,
if
you're
not
there,
then
they
would
have
to
put
in
a
new
order
to
do
that.
Our
last
we
don't
do
them
locally
and
that's
something
else,
that
a
lot
of
veterans
need
to
understand
that
if
you
go
the
day
prior
to
your
appointments,
you're
not
going
to
get
results
because
we
have
to
send
them
back
to
our
headquarters
and
it
takes
about
24
hours
to
48
hours
to
get
the
results.
H
Little
we
want
to
provide
more
information
because
there's
a
lot
of
changes
that
are
happening
not
only
with
our
facility,
but
the
VA
in
general,
a
lot
of
national
updates
and
policies
that
are
happening
so
I
try
I,
don't
want
to
just
bombard
with
our
information
right,
because
there
is
a
lot
of
information,
but
I
want
to
be
able
to
give
a
little
bit
because
I
hear
it
all
the
time
better
and
say.
Well,
we
didn't
know
this
is
happening.
H
We
didn't
know
we
had
this,
what
we
didn't
know
and
I'm
assuming
everybody
knows,
because
the
work
the
way
it
works
here
is
word
of
mouth
right.
So,
even
if
I
put
a
big
billboard,
people
would
just
drive
by
and
not
not
see
it.
So
we
try
to
give
more
information
as
I
come
here,
to
try
to
explain
the
reason
that
things
work
a
certain
way
versus
what
we
assume
should
be
happening.
H
It's
a
difference
between
a
one
and
a
neat
and
I
always
try
to
fight
for
everything
that
the
veterans
need,
because
I'm
a
veteran
myself,
but
in
order
to
do
that,
I
have
to
make
sure
that
it
just
makes
sense
and
numbers
make
sense.
The
reason
that
I
have
been
able
to
grow
the
facility
to
more
services
because
I
have
provide
numbers.
We
don't
have.
We
have
it
in
the
in
the
community.
We
need
it
on
site,
so
I
always
have
to
provide
with
numbers.
So.
H
C
Chairman
we're
talking
about
fashion
information
and
getting
the
information
out
to
the
14
veteran
organizations.
Why
don't
we
just
make
a
what
we
talked
about
before?
Yes
make
it
a
suggestion
to
forward
the
information
to
Colonel
love,
Marshall
Jimenez.
A
A
We
then
we'll
forward
that
to
miss
cavillo
and
she
can
do
her
work
with
numbers
with
information
from
14
different
veterans
service
organizations
that
are
requesting
this.
Every
organization
knows
how
many
members
in
their
organization,
so
that
in
itself
would
carry
a
lot
of
weight.
In
my
opinion,
the
other
way
is
that
we
have
a
a
signature
Drive.
You
know
that's
going
to
take
a
lot
longer.
We
have
the
the
means
to
be
able
to
provide
that
information
to
Ms
Casio
to
be
able
to
do
her
work.
H
So,
just
to
add
to
that
now
that
we
speak
on
this,
we
also
have
a
Mac
meeting
that
we
do
on
a
weekly
on
a
monthly
basis,
and
we
hope
that
in
our
facility
and
what
that
includes,
it
should
include
the
representative
for
all
of
the
organizations
and
what
we
do
is
we
have
our
management
team,
which
is
myself
the
chief
medical
officer,
the
nurse
manager
and
the
has
supervisor,
which
is
in
charge
of
all
the
scheduling
that
is
part
of
that
committee,
and
that's
when
the
organizations
which
is
one
of
the
examples
would
have
presented
that
question.
H
And
then
you
have
the
clinical
side
of
the
facility
present
at
that
meeting
to
be
able
to
answer
these
questions,
I
could
only
answer
by
the
knowledge
that
I
have
and
work
in
there.
I
cannot
answer
any
clinical
questions,
so
we
do
have
that
meeting.
However,
unfortunately,
we
have
not
had
the
quorum
to
continue.
H
J
H
19
at
10
and
we
are
able
to
change
it.
We
are
flexible
whatever
the
the
committee
needs.
If
you
want
to
change
the
date
or
the
time
we're
able
to
do
that.
I
just
want
to
be
able
to
get
the
quorum
to
be
able
to
to
continue
with
the
meeting,
because
it
would
be
pointless
for
me
to
talk
to
two
people
versus
having
a
whole
organization.
So,
but
those
are
there.
Okay,.
E
H
Have
brought
it
up
to
the
committee
several
times,
Mr
grijano
goes
there.
We
could
change
the
time
and
the
date
it
to
me.
I
will
be
flexible
because
it's
just
a
better
Avenue
to
provide
on
the
medical
side
of
it
because
we
are
in
the
facility.
Unfortunately,
I
can
hold
it
in
any
other
place,
because
I
can't
pull
the
doctors
and
the
nurses
from
taking
care
of
the
veterans,
but
we
could
do
it
on
site.
Yeah.
C
I
have
a
comment
I'm
with
the
DAV
and
the
DAV
sent
me
as
a
delicate
to
the
conference.
The
state
conference
brought
up
the
idea
of
a
committee
for
the
women's
rights
and
this
it
was
past
the
resolution
that
we
will.
The
DAV
will
start
a
committee
that
shall
consider
resolutions
proposing
and
requiring
legislation,
pensions,
legal
guardianship
matters
appeals
as
well
as
all
matters
policies
and
procedures
under
Veterans
Affairs
pertaining
specifically
to
women
veteran
issues.
C
A
M
A
M
By
all
means,
chairman
situation
came
out
last
week
of
veterans
veterans
passing
away
and,
as
we
know,
there's
a
lot
of
veterans
of
age
also
that
one
day
or
another
are
gonna
pass.
You
know,
leave
this
place.
That
being
said
as
veterans
ourselves,
which
are
many
here,
we
got
to
understand
that
you
gotta
know
right
that
the
time's
gonna
pass
I
was
able
to
get
this
book
right
here
and
I
called
this
morning
to
the
Texas
veterans
commission,
but
they're
out
and
I
want
to
get.
M
As
you
know,
many
of
these
to
y'all
and
also
I
spoke
while
I
was
talking
with
David
guards
at
Webb,
County
veterans,
Service
Officer,
about
the
situation.
Last
week
we
were
on
it,
I
mean
we
were
on
it,
trying
to
see
how
we
could
do
it
right,
but
at
the
same
time
we
have
to
police
ourselves
know
what
we
have.
What
entitlements
we
have?
M
We
can't
just
leave
pass
away
and
and
leave
everything
to
loved
ones,
family
members
or
others
police
ourselves,
as
the
time
is
coming
right,
whatever
what
am
I,
you
know
what
am
I.
You
know
eligible
for
am
I
eligible
for
this
or
that
right
going
to
the
funeral
homes
and
arranging
you
know
the
cost,
the
contract
right.
You
never
know
and
and
that's
something
we
we
got
to
educate
ourselves
and
others
as
veterans,
but
not
only
as
not
only
here
for
burials,
but
you
know
the
pack
deck
benefits.
You
know
like
what
Mr
said.
M
That's
that's
what
I
got
chairman
and
and
of
course
the
VFW
was
going
to
make
a
donation
and
that's
what
I
came
here
for
ask
for
donations
from
other
veteran
organizations.
M
A
A
I
know
that
Colonel
Rodriguez
just
sent
a
brochure
about
that
seminar,
but
unfortunately,
what
the
VA
offers
for
our
final
expenses-
it's
not
nearly
enough
not
with
today's
prices,
but
maybe
we
can
make
a
pamphlet
available
for
next
meeting
and
see
what
else
information,
because
you're
right
we're
all
going
to
be
there
one
one
day
or
another,
and
that's
why
we
that
Vietnam
veterans
are
more
into
our
health
and
things
like
that
because,
as.
D
A
H
Unfortunately,
there's
a
lot
of
red
tape
when
it
comes
to
that
his
daughter
has
been
working.
He's
still
in
the
funeral.
Home
has
not
been
able
to
get
the
services
done
because
she
cannot
afford.
We
have
tried
every
Avenue
to
help.
D
J
So
in
without
into
any
names
or
anything
like
that,
like
Mr
quijano
was
saying
we
were
trying
offline,
not
through
work
or
anything
fun
ways
to
help,
because
it's
kind
of
it's
nobody
should
be
sitting
in
anymore
for
every
period
of
time
in,
in
some
other
issues
that
I
see
and
I
hear
a
lot
without
being
specific
to
any
particular
cases.
J
Well,
I
thought
the
VA
was
going
to
pay
for
it
or
my
husband
or
my
father
or
my
uncle
served
like
he
should
be
buried
free
of
charge
and
unfortunately
it
doesn't
work
like
that.
But
that's
a
big
misconception
and
it
we
try
to
educate
all
veterans
and
all
spouses
and
all
dependents
children,
uncles,
cousins,
grandparents,
because
you
want
to
be
prepared
to
pay
for
the
services
that
you
want.
J
People
when
people
tell
us
or
tell
me
I'll,
say
mean
well:
the
VA
should
pay
this
and
that
and
they
reimburse,
but
they
reimburse
just
like
he
said,
a
minimal
amount,
they're
not
going
to
reimburse
for
a
three-day
procession
like
that's
just
not
feasible
or
for
flowers
that
cost
eight
hundred
dollars,
like
I've
seen
that
or
a
fifteen
twenty
thousand
dollar
funeral
it.
It
just
helps
with
some
of
the
expenses
very
minimal
expenses,
and
it
is.
It
is
something
that
our
local
community
should
know
of.
J
All
our
veterans
is
that
the
VA
does
not
pay
for
it.
It
is
a
reimbursement
and
it
is
a
minimal
amount,
nowhere
near
what
it
would
cost
to
bury
someone
or
cremate
someone.
If
someone
is
totally
Indigent,
we
do
the
the
county
has
an
indigen
program
for
for
those
cases
and
they
added
services
that
they
didn't
have
to,
if
they're
an
Indigent
veteran
to
honor,
that
veteran
that
that's
still
at
no
cost
to
anybody,
but
they
have
to
communicate
either
with
us
or
with
the
Indigent
department
at
the
county
to
get
that
arranged.
J
You
know
I
had
it
well
when
it
happens
immediately
as
it
happens.
So,
at
the
end
of
the
day,
it's
just
education,
yeah.
A
Yeah
and
unfortunately,
that
happens
a
lot
more
than
what
we
know.
I
know
that
we
get
emails
a
lot.
You
know
where
we
have
from
from
the
state
that
asking
US
veterans
if
we
want
to
attend
a
a
funeral.
Okay
had
no
no
relatives
whatsoever
in
different
places
in
Texas,
so
yeah.
It
is
something
that
we
really
need
to
look
into
and
try
to
address
in
some
shape
form
or
another
comment.
G
Isabel
again
with
Texas
veterans,
commission,
the
Healthcare
Advocate
they
do
help
better
parents,
inform
them
of
Eligibility
that
they
get.
I
do
have
some
of
these
these,
but
we
don't
get
a
lot.
We
get
some
every
quarter,
so
I
can't
like
give
them
all
out.
Obviously,
because
I
try
limited
to
every
veteran
that
comes
out,
we
will
order
some
more
so
that
we
can
be
able
to
share
them
with
the
with
the
organizations
that
are
here.
G
So
you
all
can
share
them
with
your
veterans
and
just
to
piggyback
what
David
said
it
is
a
reimbursement
veterans
do
not
receive
the
burial
to
have
the
the
funds
available
to
them
prior
to
being
buried
and
whatnot.
It
has
there's
a
process
that
they
have
to
go
through
and,
like
he
said,
it's
not
usually
that
much
that
you
get
reimbursed.
It
doesn't
even
cover
the
full
cost
of
of
even
getting
cremated.
So
there
is
other
options
of
getting
buried
at
the
National
Cemetery.
G
G
J
I
brought
some
books,
anybody
wants
some
they're
a
little
bit
older,
the
new
ones,
don't
come
out
till
I,
believe
end
of
July
and
if
it's
not
the
end
of
July
it'll
be
after
September
1st,
but
these
are
older
ones
that
we
had
left
over
at
our
office.
So
if
y'all
want
some,
you
can
grab
some
I'll
just
leave
them
here.
The.
M
Tvc
is
already
out
out
of
our
book
booklets
brochures
Flyers
they
are
distributed
them
I,
try
to
get
some
new
ones
down
here,
so
it's
going
to
take
a
while
until
they
get
new
ones,
but
that's
what
I
wanted
to
get
my
point
across.
What's
going
on
also
as
veterans,
we
got
to
do
what
we
need
to
do
and
we
got
to
police
ourselves
also
for
the
future.
M
A
A
B
County
Service
Officer
his
wife
passed
away
yesterday.
She
had
cancer
and
she
had
five
days
left
of
treatment
and
she
didn't
make
it
anyway.
Tony
called
me
real
early
yesterday
and
he's
devastated
and
I
just
wanted
to
make
it
known.
We
also
have
a
91
year
old,
Korean,
War,
veteran
Mr
Dimas
Andres
Dimas,
whose
groceries
tonight
at
Joe
Jackson
Heights
over
there
on
Loring
I
believe,
and
we
normally
like
to
do
a
final
salute
to
all
our
brothers
veterans
and
I.
B
Probably
that
is
one
of
the
reasons
Mr
Sanchez
is
not
here,
but
there's
a
very
few
handful
Korean
War
veterans,
left
and
I
think
that
if
anybody
can
make
it
out
there
today
around
six
o'clock,
so
we
can
give
Mr
Dimas
a
final
salute.
We
appreciate
it.
I
will
be
out
there
and
please
pass
the
word
to
see
if
we
can
honor
him
with
the
final
solute.
Thank
you.
