Description
Minneapolis Public Health, Environment, Civil Rights, and Engagement Committee Meeting
A
Good
afternoon,
everyone
and
welcome
to
this
regularly
scheduled
meeting
of
the
public
health,
environment,
civil
rights
and
engagement
committee.
My
name
is
Philippe
Cunningham
and
I
am
the
councilmember
that,
in
the
chair
of
this
committee
today
on
the
diet,
I
have
with
me
councilmember
Schrader,
Gordon,
Johnson
and
council
vice-president
Jenkins.
Let
the
record
reflect
that
we
have
a
quorum
on
today's
agenda.
We
have
four
consent
items
so
go
ahead
and
dive
into
those.
A
First,
we
number
one
is
a
public
health
advisory
committee
appointment
approving
the
appointment
of
Mary,
Peck
c3,
Ward
3
for
two-year
term
and
I
just
wanted
to
quickly
give
a
little
bit
of
background
again.
We
have
we're
so
lucky
to
have
folks
volunteer
their
time
and
to
be
able
to
advise
us
as
elected
officials,
so
we're
very
lucky
to
have
so
much
talent
and
energy
from
folks.
A
So
she
has
33
years
of
experience
as
the
manager
of
Ramsey
County's
WIC
program,
she's,
a
public
master's
of
Public
Health
in
nutrition
and
in
2013
she
received
the
Sheila
Fernan
ward
for
the
Minnesota
Department
of
Health,
recognizing
local
WIC
leaders
who
have
enhanced
the
quality
of
services
through
their
work.
So
we're
very
lucky
to
have
her
number
two
is
the
passage
of
a
resolution
amending
the
North
North
Side
Green,
Zone
task
force
resolution
to
add
two
additional
voting
members
and
adding
the
expertise
for
voting
members
to
include
education
and
youth.
Oriented
work.
A
Number
three
is
accepting
a
grant
from
the
minute.
The
watershed
management
organization,
in
the
amount
of
nineteen
thousand
two
hundred
dollars
to
hire
interns
to
assist
in
erosion,
control
enforcement
for
the
year
2019
and
item
number
four
is
accepting
the
local
public
health
strategies
grant
from
the
Minnesota
Department
of
Health
in
the
amount
of
1.4
million
dollars
for
five
years
for
innovative
local
public
health
strategies
to
prevent
manage
diabetes,
heart
disease
and
stroke.
I
want
to
say
thank
you
to
the
health
department
for
your
hard
work
on
getting
this
money.
A
I
see
that
it
was
larger
amounts
than
what
was
originally
allocated
so
good
work
team,
and
on
that
I
move
approval
of
these
four
items.
Are
there
any
discussion
all
right,
seeing
none
all
those
in
favor,
please
signify
by
saying
aye
aye,
those
opposed,
say,
nay,
the
eyes
have
it
and
that
eye
that
motion
is
approved
before
wrapping
up
just
want
to
remind
everybody
to
contact
your
council
members
to
make
sure
your
voice
is
heard,
and
our
next
meeting
is
going
to
be
on
March
4th
at
excuse
me
Monday
at
1:30.
