A

C
C
D
Yes,
so
I
have
been
with
Minneapolis
Fire
Department
for
24
years,
and
most
of
that
has
been
in
my
current
role:
Community
risk
reduction
officer
and
basically
it's
a
big,
a
lot
of
words,
basically
to
describe
that.
I
teach
people
about
fire
safety
and
Fire
Prevention,
literally
trying
to
put
the
fire
out
before
it
starts
through
safety,
education.
E
C
C
Cassidy
you
you
mentioned
that
you
only
you
mentioned
that
there
are
only
with
some
materials
that
are
proof
of
burning.
Can
you
help
us
understand
what
they
are.
D
Yeah,
so
every
city
has
its
own
rules
as
far
as
what
is
permitted
for
people
to
burn
in
a
typical
backyard
recreational
fire
and
in
the
City
of
Minneapolis.
What
we
allow
it's
fairly
strict,
but
what
is
as
loud
as
people
can
only
burn
untreated,
unpainted
wood,
that
is
it
and
it's
anything
outside
of
that
is
not
approved.
D
So
does
that
yeah?
Does
that
answer
your
question
so
untreated
unpainted
wood
can
be
burned
for
the
purpose
of
pleasure,
religious
ceremonies,
cooking
warmth
in
a
recreational
fire,
foreign.
C
C
Cassidy,
can
you
name
some
examples
of
the
different
type
of
materials
that
people
might
burn?
That
is
not
legal
in
the
City
of
Minneapolis.
D
Yes,
so
some
common
things
that
we
see
people
burning
that
are
not
legal,
are
cardboard
recycling
like
paper
newspapers,
trash,
even
small
pieces
like
a
piece
of
furniture,
that's
been
broken
up
into
smaller
pieces,
so
none
of
that
is
legal.
C
Just
a
follow-up
questions
on
that
Cassidy.
What
about
one
of
the
things
that
I
hear
is
is
plastic.
Yeah
is.
B
C
That
Leo
or
illegal
Bernie
is
that
allowable.
D
D
D
D
It
needs
to
be
surrounded
by
like
a
fire
ring
or
recessed
into
the
ground
about
six
inches.
Okay,
it
needs
to
be
supervised
by
an
adult
18
years
or
older.
D
You
can
only
burn
between
nine
in
the
morning
and
10
p.m.
At
night,
let's
see-
and
you
have
to
have
a
fire
extinguisher
nearby
and
a
fire
extinguisher
can
be
a
bucket
of
water,
a
bucket
of
sand,
a
garden
hose
or
an
actual
fire
extinguisher
so
yeah.
So
those
are
the
basic
rules.
E
E
C
Yesterday,
A
lot
of
people
use
propane
for,
and
you
know,
to
start
fire
or
to
keep
a
fire
going.
Do
propane.
Recreational
fires
such
as
fire
tables
Etc,
have
to
follow
the
same
rules
as
natural
wood
burning
recreational
fires
in
English.
C
D
D
You
have
a
little
more
flexibility
there.
You
can
even
have
a
propane
fire
table
on
a
an
apartment,
condominium
balcony.
As
long
as
the
the
managing
Association
allows
it
so
yeah
they
don't
follow
the
same
rules
as
the
wood
burning,
wood
burning,
recreational
fires.
C
One
of
the
things
that
a
lot
of
people
may
not
fully
understand
is
you
know,
citation
okay
am
I
going
to
get
citation
is
this?
Is
the
city
is
going
to
send
officer
to
my
place
to
give
me
a
citation
if
I
am
not
following
the
the
fire
safety
rules,
or
do
they
just
come
in
and
say,
hey
clean
up?
Don't
do
this?
Please
help
us
understand
what
what
is
the
fine?
If
someone
is
not
following
the
rule,
yeah
the.
D
Yeah,
so
if
someone
is
not
following
the
rules
and
the
fire
department
finds
out
that
you're,
not
following
the
rules
and
they
respond
to
the
fire,
the
fire
department
will
put
the
fire
out
or
ask
you
to
put
the
fire
out
if
the
behavior
continues
and
someone
continues
to
burn
illegally,
whether
it's
burning
illegal
products,
cardboard
trash
those
types
of
things
or
they
burn
late
into
the
night
or
if
they're,
burning
and
not
standing
by
their
fire
and
being
unsafe,
and
that
continues
to
happen.
D
Then
you,
you
could
end
up
getting
a
200
fine
from
the
city
so
yeah.
So
it
is
important
to
follow
the
rules
for
everybody's
safety,
for
your
neighbors
safety
and
so
that
you
don't
get
a
200
fine.
E
E
C
Capacity
as
a
staff
captain
in
the
fire
department
who
cares
about
the
safety
of
all
the
residents
in
the
City
of
Minneapolis
and
are
helping
people
not
putting
burden
in
them,
but
helping
people
to
be
safe
and
to
enjoy
the
the
warm
summer
nights
with
a
bonfire.
In
addition
to
the
rules
that
you
share
with
us.
C
C
D
Yeah
so
I
have
two
two
things:
to
recommend
to
people
to
enjoy
your
recreational
fires
safely
and
number
one
is:
keep
children,
young
children
and
pets
away
from
the
hot
fire
and
the
hot
hot
barbecue
grill
every
year.
There
are
tragic
things
that
happens
where
kids
get
burned
from
barbecue
grills
or
recreational
fires
from
playing
too
close
or
running
and
not
paying
attention.
D
Okay,
secondly,
is
be
a
good
neighbor
and
let
your
neighbors
know
as
much
as
possible
when
you
plan
on
having
a
recreational
fire,
because
if
the
wind
is
blowing
and
your
neighbor's
windows
are
open
and
that
smoke
starts
to
blow
into
their
house,
you
know
that
can
be
very
unpleasant
and
most
of
the
time
when,
when
the
fire
department
responds
to
to
a
recreational
fire,
it's
because
a
neighbor
has
called
because
they're
upset
that
someone
is
burning
illegally.
D
These
can
all
be
avoided
and
prevented
just
by
being
more
respectful,
letting
your
neighbor
know.
Maybe
they
can
close
their
windows
or
maybe
you
can
choose
not
to
have
a
fire
that
night
if,
if
it's
going
to
disrupt
the
neighborhood,
so.
E
E
E
C
People
who's
listening
to
us
right
now
on
air
and
they
they
have
concerns,
or
they
have
additional
questions
that
they
want
to
ask
about
bonfire
or
they
see
the
next
door.
Neighbor
burning
things
that
are
not
they're,
not
they're,
not
supervising
the
the
fire,
bonfire
and
so
forth.
Who
can
they
call
and
where
can
they
get
resources
or
is
there
a
number
that
you
will
recommend
or
is
a
specific
Department
that
you
will
recommend
or
the
police
who
should
they
contact
if
they
have
concerns.
C
D
Okay,
yeah
so
for
non-emergencies,
or
to
inquire
for
more
information
or
to
report
illegal
burning
or
problems
with
the
neighbor.
Let's
just
say,
You
can
call
Minneapolis
311.
You
can
also
email,
Minneapolis,
311
and
they'll.
They
will
take
the
information
and
offer
more
information
for
you
and,
of
course,
911
for
any
emergencies.
At
any
time
of
day.
C
Cassidy,
thank
you
so
much
for
coming
out
on
Hmong,
radio
and
shared
this
very
important
information
to
our
listeners
on
air.
The
summer
is
the
spring
is
coming
it's
getting
warmer
people's
again
out
there
as
I
was
sharing
earlier
I
already
started,
barbecuing
down
in
the
backyard,
because
I
couldn't
wait.
I
could
wait
until
summer
comes,
but
so
a
lot
of
people
are
enjoying
outdoor,
not
just
outside
in
their
backyard.
