A
Hi
I'm
Larry
mcentee,
Ward,
3,
City
Council,
and
what
a
delight
it
is
today
to
have
Larry
brows
with
us,
the
executive
directors
at
the
correct
title
of
city
care
here
in
Oklahoma,
City
and
organization,
that's
committed
to
helping
people
change
their
lives
for
the
better
Larry.
Thank
you
for
all
you
and
your
staff
do.
How
about
giving
our
viewers
a
brief
overview
of
what
city
care
is
all
about?
I'm,
not.
B
Listen,
sir,
it
actually
started
20
years
ago
when
it
tent
and
that's
before,
Oklahoma
City
downtown
looked
a
lot
different
than
it
does
now
we
started
serving
a
whosoever
will
may
come
breakfast
down
a
tenth
and
Robinson
the
old
first
christian
church
that
had
been
abandoned
for
30
years.
Basically,
five
days
a
week,
we
opened
our
doors,
630-730
and
fed
the
homeless,
and
from
that
from
that,
we
we
formed
city
care,
a
non-profit
to
raise
money
to
basically
buy
the
groceries.
B
B
How
do
we
break
this
cycle
of
who
we
see
every
day,
people
who
have
given
up
on
themselves
and
society
has
given
up
on
them
and
at
that
time
we
did
not
know
that
seventy-six
percent
of
our
kids
in
our
inner
city
in
elementary
schools
title
one
schools
and
that's
all,
but
two
of
them
all.
These
seventy-six
percent
of
these
kids
are
reading
below
proficiency
so
and
there
the
sad
thing
is:
is
they're
building
prisons
in
some
states
based
on
4th
grade
reading
failure
rates,
so
we
go
to
Denver
Colorado.
B
My
daughter
was
involved
with
the
program
called
his
kids,
which
utilizes
the
faith
community
on
a
one-on-one
relationship
with
inner
city,
elementary
kids
at
crucial
reading
age,
to
help
them
with
reading
and
we've
been
reading
in
the
papers.
Lately,
that's
really
that's
really
a
situation
that
we
have
to
address.
B
We
were
feeding
people
housing
people.
After
that,
you
know,
the
YMCA
was
never
rebuilt
for
as
far
as
housing
people,
and
so
there
was
a
hundred
and
seventy
six
beds
that
were
never
replaced.
So
there
was
a
task
force
formed
with
the
city,
HUD
faith,
the
faith
community,
inner-city
providers
to
replace
some
of
the
beds
that
were
lost
in
them
in
the
murrah
bombing
and
city
care
said
well,
we've
got
some
energy
on
that.
So
this
is,
we
just
take
it
and
run
with
it
and
I.
B
We
did
say
that
it's
going
to
be
first
class,
it's
not
going
to
be
underfunded
and
twenty
four
places
around
Oklahoma
City
said.
That
sounds
like
a
wonderful
idea,
but
not
in
my
backyard,
and
we
went
down
to
Morgan
flats,
which
is
West
Lawn
gardens
where
we
have
a
whiskered
site
and
that
neighborhood
welcomed
us
down
there
to
build
the
Pershing
Center
it's
on
General,
Pershing
Boulevard
and
we
have
60
rooms
and
we
have
48
efficiencies,
12
one
bedroom
and
we're
not
a
gatekeeper
like
city
rescue.
B
You
have
to
be
homeless,
however,
to
get
into
the
Pershing
center.
It's
transitional
housing.
You
can
stay
there
for
two
years.
We
have
in-house
case
managers,
we
do
our
own
in-house
drug
testing,
it's
very
structured
and
we're
about
ninety
two
percent
employed.
The
good
thing
is
is
if
you've
stayed
sober
paid.
Your
rent
been
a
good,
have
exhibited
good
character.
B
A
B
A
B
How
we
had
take
our
we
would
take
our
whiz
kids
out
there
at
the
end
of
the
school
year
for
boat
rides,
the
Wildlife
Department
keeps
it
stocked
with
fish.
We
would
take
our
kids
out
there
and
just
have
an
end-of-the-year
picnic
basically,
but
we
noticed
that
the
lake
started
to
be
a
dumping
ground.
B
A
lot
of
the
illegal
activity
was
going
on
out
there
and
with
bryan
mon
and
the
shine
group
district
to
county
commissioner,
we
started
cleaning
up
crystal
lake,
worked
a
deal
out
with
the
city
to
lease
it
for
a
dollar
a
year,
and
we
would
maintain
the
lake,
keep
it
cleaned
up.
We
picked
up.
I
say
we
with
the
help
of
many
volunteers
in
the
shine
program
over
2,000
tires
hot
tubs
boats,
trailers
that
were
abandoned
out
there
we've.
B
Since
then
we
have,
with
the
help
of
the
Starkey
foundation,
we
have
been
able
to
put
about
a
hundred
and
eighty
thousand
dollars
worth
of
improvements,
pavilion
bathroom
and
it's
open
to
the
public,
and
we
want
it
well.
One
of
the
things
we
wanted
it
for
was
to
in
the
summertime
is
for
inner-city
kids.
B
Them
an
opportunity
to
get
out
of
their
neighborhood.
This
year
we
had
three
weeks
session
3
1
week
sessions
and
we
had
over
a
hundred
and
sixty
kids
that
would
come
out
and
we
it's
not
outdoor.
There's
no
soccer
field,
there's
no
basketball
court,
it's
more
of
a
outdoor
education!
We
have
a
fabulous
archery
course
out
there.
You
know
in
arteries
in
400
schools.
Now
in
Oklahoma,
I.
A
B
No
idea
is
such
a
big,
that's
a
big
thing,
so
we
have
an
archery
course.
We
have,
of
course,
the
fishings
out
there
if
have
a
really
nice
boat
dock,
and
these
kids
get
to
come
out
and
do
identification,
do
kayaking
fishing,
of
course,
and
archery
and
just
have
a
wonderful
time
out
to
like,
and
we
have
a
primitive
area
out
there
for
archery
enthusiasts,
who
like
to
go
out
and
shoot
3d
targets
that
we
that
we
pretty
proud
of
all
still
and
maps.
B
B
Have
a
full
time
we
have
a
security
full
time
at
live
out.
The
lake
and
it's
open
to
the
public
are
only
our
only
thing
that
we
have
with
the
city.
Is
we
have
an
agreement
that
if
we
have
a
function
going
on
out
there,
which
we'd
like
to
talk
about
an
event
going
on
that
we
can
close
off
part
of
the
lake
for
the
event
that
we
have
all.
We
have
the
event
well,.
B
A
B
A
B
She
could
never
get
it
because
she
wasn't
a
runner
it
was.
She
saw
in
the
keys.
She
saw
these
signs.
Advertising,
a0k
and
thousands
of
people
showed
up
and
went
800
feet
on
a
bridge
span
for
a
0k,
and
it
was
it's
just
a
run
for
the
non
runners
and
we're
going
to
have
that
September
27th
on
a
Saturday
we're
going
to
have
food
trucks
out
there,
big
truck
tacos
will
be
there.
We
have
three
bands,
it's
going
to
be
a
very
family.
Three
bands
will
be
there
very
family
friendly,
very
family-oriented.
B
A
B
In
Florida
in
the
keys
okay,
at
our
situation
you
just
show
up
now
we
are
actually
going
to
have
a
5k
trail
run
also.
That
will
be
in
conjunction
with
the
0k,
but
if
you
will,
if
you
will
get
on
the
computer
and
Google
wwz,
ER,
okay,
okay,
see
calm,
0,
ok,
dot,
com,
0k,
okc,
calm.
That
will
show
you
what
you
have
you
registered
for
the
race
and
we
are
asking
for
entities
to
regs
teams.
My
wife's
team
is
Maisie's,
lazies
he's.
B
B
B
B
Just
in
your
construction
right,
so
it
will
not
the
way
we
understand
it
will
not
be
complete
as
there's
no
asphalt,
it
will
be.
Actually
trailed
snapped
up,
mapped
out
and
be
a
very
interesting
run
for
trail
runners
and
it's
just
all
for
a
good
cause,
and
we
look
I
think
it's
going
to
be
a
huge
event
for
the
public
of
Oklahoma
City
to
come
out
and
just
have
a
family-friendly
time.
Ok,.
B
A
B
A
B
Could
use
some
more
help
and
the
more
money
that
we
could
raise,
the
more
we'll
do
at
the
lake
to
improve
it
and
make
it
good
for
the
public?
One
of
the
things
that
I
forgot
to
mention
is
just
on
the
south
side
of
the
lake
is
a
mountain
over
there.
Well,
that's
the
waste
connections
landfill
and
they
have
been
a
wonderful
supporting
partner
of
ours.
A
Know
it's
amazing
for
a
former.
Oh
you
football
player.
Now
you
know
you
don't
want
to
be
called
a
star,
but
you
remember
some
great
championship
teams,
the
vision
that
you've
had
and
your
wife
has
had
and
the
folks
that
you
brought
around
you
have
really
been
a
blessing
to
Oklahoma
City
more
than
just
those
victories
on
the
football
field.
Larry
I
just
want
to
thank
you
publicly
for
all
you've
done
and
for
all
the
other
volunteers
have
done
and
keep
up
the
good
work.
One
more
time
the
0k
run
is
September.
The
27.
A
Well,
thank
you
so
much
for
the
way
that
you're
improving
the
quality
of
life
through
the
whiz
kids
to
the
ministry,
to
the
homeless,
to
those
inner
city,
kids.
Folks,
there
are
activities
like
that.
Going
on
all
around
Oklahoma
City
God
is
at
work.
Improving
the
quality
of
life
for
his
children,
with
volunteers
like
Larry,
keep
up
the
good
work
and
God
bless
you
in
the
future
as
City
care
marches
forward,
Thank
You
Larry.
Thank
you
all
for
watching.
