From YouTube: New City Courthouse Groundbreaking Ceremony
Description
Oklahoma City officials broke ground on the new Municipal Courts Building, which will serve Oklahoma City residents with six state-of-the-art courtrooms.
The $22.8 million project, located at 701 Couch Drive, is part of the new Municipal Courts Complex, which also includes the soon-to-be-completed police headquarters and a parking plaza.

A
C
A
real
honor
to
be
here
today
this
sum
to
redo
this
building
and
to
do
the
pre
put
build.
A
new
police
station
is
a
monumental
thing.
It
wasn't
an
easy
task,
as
a
councilman
I
can
tell
you
going
back
to
the
time
when
those
decisions
were
made.
They
were
not
easy
and
and
I
appreciate
all
the
support
that
I
received
it
trying
to
make
it
happen
because
I
think
we're
going
to
reap
the
blessings
from
it
for
years
to
come.
C
I
can
remember
discussions
with
the
judge
Delaney
in
the
80s
about
this
about
a
new
building.
Even
then,
even
though
it
had
been
worked
on
20
years
before
that,
even
then
the
building
so
inadequate
in
terms
of
the
design
and
as
as
things
progressed,
the
new
building
is
going
to
change
all
that
it's
going
to
be
three
stories:
tall,
6,500
square
feet
of
usable
space.
It's
going
to
match
in
terms
of
design
the
Civic
Center
have
to
be
built
out
of
blond,
brick
and
limestone
so
it'll
be
it'll,
coordinate
with
all
that.
C
There,
the
lobby
is
going
to
have
a
monumental,
staircase
and
granite
benches.
The
building
is
designed
with
security.
First,
you
know
we're
in
an
era
now,
when
this
building
was
started
in
the
40s
and
then
finished
in
the
60s
security
wasn't
near
the
question
that
it
is
today.
This
building
is
built
with
security
in
mind,
to
be
a
lot
safer
place
for
everybody
that
needs
to
utilize.
C
D
A
banger
and
judge
Morgan
they
were
like
instrumental
when
they
started
this
process.
Judge
Mangler
was
involved
in
the
design
and
he
a
lot
of
input.
So
he
was
really
looking
forward
to
this
day.
Judge
Morgan.
She
was
like
the
art
person,
so
she
was
going
on
like
the
Arts
Committee,
so
I
think
sort
of
taking
her
place
on
their
committee,
but
I'm
not
going
to
as
well
as
she
did,
but
we're
going
to
be
talking
to
her
husband
about
that
as
the
time
goes
on.
D
So
I'm
now
I'm
going
to
tell
you
about
a
year
in
the
life
of
the
Oklahoma
City
Municipal
Court
from
july
the
firs
2
jun
2
30
2014.
Our
municipal
court
received
just
under
two
hundred
eight
thousand
new
citations
from
police,
fire
marshals,
code
enforcement
officers,
animal
welfare
officers,
parking
technicians
and
city
county
health
officers
for
full
time,
Municipal,
Court
judges
and
several
part-time
judges
hell
just
under
140,000
hearings.
D
Seven
prosecutors
resolved
145,000
cases
without
a
trial.
They
tried
492
cases
in
472
cases
resulted
in
convictions.
The
prosecutors
are
supported
by
six
staff
members
and
for
part-time
clerks
81
court
staff.
Members
kept
the
court
open,
4380
hours
and
processed
over
two
hundred,
seventeen
thousand
citations,
eight
probation
officers,
guided
1590
adults
and
juveniles.
D
Two
successful
and
timely,
completed
probations,
13
city
marshals
and
five
warrant
investigators
cleared
over
61,000
warrants
are
municipal
court
building
also
houses
for
criminal
justice
attorneys
who
serve
as
the
legal
advisers
for
the
police
department,
the
municipal
judges
and
the
municipal
court
administrator.
The
court
clerk
provides
support
for
police
to
conduct
administrative
hearings
for
nuisance
abatement
and
the
booting
and
impounding
of
vehicles,
so
that
is
a
year
in
the
life
of
the
municipal
courts.
Building
we're
proud
of
all
the
things
that
we
accomplished
and
all
things
that
we
will
continue
to
accomplish.
