From YouTube: Inside Animal Welfare - Episode 1
Description
Follow along with Officer Shannon Todaro and learn about the Oklahoma City Animal Welfare division.
A
Well,
my
name
is
officer
Todd
arrow
I'm,
an
Oklahoma
City
Animal,
Welfare
Officer
to
which
is
a
field
officer.
I've
actually
been
with
the
division
for
15
years
now,
I
have
held
other
positions
within
the
division,
but
the
field
work.
That's
my
favorite,
that's
where
I
want
to
be
that's
where
I
feel
that
I
need
to
be
prior
to
working
here.
I
was
a
stay-at-home
mom.
Had
my
own
business,
took
care
of
family
and
took
care
of
those
type
of
things,
and
you
know
life
changes
things
happen
and
I
ended
up
coming
here
and
I.
B
So
what
we
do
is
we
go
in
that
area
we
drive
around.
We
try
to
see
what
we
can
find
that's
loose,
you
know
what
we
do
is
we
try
to
secure
those
animals
and
securing
could
be
any
one
of
different
means.
One
could
be
returning
back
to
the
owner
with
citations,
of
course,
because
of
the
ordinance
violations.
Another
could
be
securing
the
animals
onto
our
vehicle
for
impoundment
to
the
shelter.
So
there
are
different
means
in
different
ways
of
containing
these
animals,
and
hopefully
by
educating
the
public
on
what
the
ordinances
are.
A
Well,
basically,
this
was
our
first
call
of
the
day.
When
we
pulled
up,
we
actually
saw
two
small
dogs
running
loose
pretty
much
almost
on
a
main
street,
so
what
we
did
is
and
what
we
generally
do
is
we
go
ahead
and
hit
our
lights
to
let
the
traffic
know
that
we're
there,
what
we've
done
what
I
did
is
I
got
out
of
the
vehicle
grabbed
a
leash
in
hopes
that
the
animals
would
respond
to
me.
Unfortunately,
these
two
little
ones
were
actually
scared
and
nervous.
They
really
didn't
want
to
come
to
us.
A
So
what
we
did
at
that
point
is
we
tried
to
secure
them?
This
is
where
officers
fears
an
officer
ray
was
assisting.
We
were
able
to
grab
some
extra
equipment,
as
you
heard,
a
snappy
snare.
It's
another
tool
we
use
to
catch
some
of
the
animals,
it's
kind
of
a
heavier
duty,
leash
that
tends
to
help
in
some
of
these
situations.
A
When
they're
really
fearful,
we
were
able
to
go
back
behind
the
residence
in
one
of
these
little
puppies
up
into
an
area
that
we
were
able
to
finally
get
a
hold
of
them,
in
which
one
we
did
they
did
calm
down.
They
were
just
very
nervous
at
the
point
when
there
is
so
upon
capturing
them.
We
took
them
at
them
on
our
trucks
after
securing
them
on
the
vehicle.
Of
course,
we
take
pictures
again.
This
picture
is
uploaded
into
our
database.
A
Our
computer
program
that
we
have
this
computer
program
is
linked
into
the
city
webpage
of
okc
govt
related
to
the
animal
ish
animal
areas.
What
you
can
do
if
you've
lost
an
animal,
you
can
go
onto
that,
and
you
can
take
a
look
at
all
the
photos
of
the
animals
that
we
have
on
there
and
see
if
this
may
be
your
animal
that
you're
missing.
This
is
a
lot.
