D
Okay,
okay,
I'd
like
to
call
them
to
order.
This
is
the
regular
meeting
of
the
Palm
Springs
Arts
Commission
for
Thursday
May
11th
2017
in
the
Palm
Springs
Convention
Center,
which
is
very
unfamiliar
to
all
of
us.
So
you'll
have
to
bear
with
us
as
we
figure
out
how
the
things
work
in
attending.
Would
you
call
the
roll
please
yeah.
D
D
D
Now
we
come
to
the
time
that
has
been
set
aside
for
members
of
the
public
to
address
the
public
Arts
Commission
on
items
of
general
interest
within
the
subject
matter:
jurisdiction
of
the
public,
Arts
Commission
and
agenda
items.
If
the
member
of
the
public
cannot
be
present
later
in
the
meeting
at
the
time
that
the
item
is
heard
by
the
Commission.
Additionally,
members
of
the
public
may
address
the
Commission
on
each
item
listed
on
the
posted
agenda
at
the
time
that
the
item
is
heard.
D
Although
the
public
Arts
Commission
values
your
comments
pursuant
to
the
Brown
Act,
it
generally
cannot
take
any
action
on
items
not
listed
on
the
posted
agenda.
Five
minutes
is
assigned
for
each
speaker.
I
would
like
to
begin
by
saying
that
we're
very
impressed
to
have
so
many
people
come
to
our
meeting.
D
So
we
can't
do
any
action,
we're
not
anywhere
close
to
having
it
on
our
agenda
or
doing
anything,
but
we
really
value
hearing
from
you
while
we're
thinking
about
whether
to
do
something.
So
when
you
get
up
to
speak,
would
you
please
give
us
your
name
and
spell
it
for
the
invisible
lady
who
writes
the
minutes
and
asked
us
to?
Please
spell
everything
so
who
would
like
to
go?
First,
very
good.
Thanks.
C
What
the
heck,
I'm
a
brave
soul,
so
I'll
come
up
here
and
talk
to
all
of
you
in
the
interest
of
time.
I
know
the
lot
of
people
here,
madam
chairman,
are
here
to
talk
about
the
possibility
of
moving
the
franc,
Bogert
statue
away
from
City
Hall
I,
don't
know
how
many
in
this
room
are
here
for
that
sole
purpose.
So
if
you
wouldn't
mind
raising
your
hand,
oh
that.
C
C
And
I'm
75
going
on
76
anyhow,
Frank
Bogert
I
think
did
more
for
this
community
than
any
one
human
being
that
I've
ever
known,
who
the
statue
was
put
up
to
recognize
his
accomplishments
and
his
contribution
to
this
community
and
I
think
to
move
it
away
from
the
front
of
City.
Hall
would
be
a
travesty
I
know.
This
discussion
has
been
on
and
off
over
the
last
couple
of
years
and
I'm,
hoping
that
this
Arts
Commission
will
see
fit
to
keep
that
in
front
of
City
Hall.
C
Now
it's
an
if
it's
a
matter
of
not
not
knowing
who
he
is
or
what
he
did
for
this
community,
because
there's
no
sign
in
front
of
it.
I
know
that
there
are
a
group
of
people,
including
myself
and
Harold
Matzner,
who
would
be
very
happy
to
put
together
sufficient
funds
to
put
a
sign
up
that
says
what
this
man
did
for
our
town.
C
He
brought
the
Angels
baseball
team
here.
We
would
never
had
a
major
league
baseball
team
here
if
it
hadn't
been
for
Frank
Bogert.
The
things
that
he
has
had
built
in
this
community
were
absolutely
fabulous,
so
not
to
give
him
the
recognition
that
he
so
truly
deserves.
I
think
would
be
an
injustice
now.
I,
don't
know
where
you
want
to
move
this
statue,
because
if
it's
not
in
front
of
City
Hall,
it's
not
fitting
to
Frank
and
I.
Just
don't
know
how
this
city
could
even
possibly
think
about
moving
to
another
location.
C
C
We're
already
wasting
so
much
money
on
that
stupid,
fountain
on
the
corner
of
Palm,
Canyon
and
Alejo,
one
of
these
days,
I'm
going
to
get
a
stick
of
dynamite
and
just
throw
it
in
the
right
in
the
middle
of
the
fountain,
because
we
had
a
fountain
that
was
built
in
front
of
the
airport
for
$25,000,
and
this
fountain
caused
a
66,000
not
to
count
count
the
hundreds
of
thousands
of
dollars.
It
has
cost
us
to
maintain
that
silly
fountain,
it's
always
broken,
and
it's
always
broken
at
the
height
of
the
tourist
season.
C
So
what
good
is
it?
Let's
get
rid
of
it
and
put
something
put
something
really
nice.
There
puts
a
bronzer
statue
that
would
represent
what
everybody
thinks
this
community
is
all
about,
but
this
community
is
all
about
people
and
people
as
a
Frank
was
all
about
people,
and
he
was
all
about
this
community.
He
loved
this
community.
He
came
here
in
1934.
He
was
a
help,
build
Thunderbird,
Country
Club.
He
was
a
manager
of
ello.
C
Reek
lub
would
not
be
there
if
it
weren't
for
Frank
I
mean
I
could
go
on
and
on
and
on
and
I'm
not
going
to
bore
you
with
that,
so
I'm
hoping
that
you
give
serious
consideration
if
it
comes
up
in
your
meeting
to
not
have
it
moved,
because
if
it
is,
there
is
going
to
be
a
storm
of
such
proportion,
it
will
look
that
even
looks
even
close
to
what
happened
at
City
Hall
a
few
years
back.
As
you
can
see
the
small
group
of
people
that
came
out
here
today.
C
I
know
if
this
had
gotten
out
this
whole
room
would
have
been
packed.
So
these
were
just
based
on
a
couple
of
phone
calls,
and
here
we
all
are
I.
Thank
you
for
your
time,
madam
chairman,
and
board
members
and
Jennifer
I
hope
you
got
that
in
your
in
minutes
correctly.
So
I'll
come
back
and
read
the
minutes,
make
sure
you
got
it
down
right.
Thank.
D
A
My
name
is
Hugh
Kaptur
and
I
have
to
say
that
when
I
first
came
here
in
1956,
Frank
Bogert
was
mayor
and
he
was
he
was
more
than
a
mayor.
He
was
the
founder
of
Palm
Springs
and
the
statue
where
it's
located
is
a
perfect
location
for
Frank
Bogert,
because
without
Frank
Bogert
the
City
Hall,
probably
wouldn't
even
be
there,
and
he
was
responsible
for
the
beautiful
fountain.
That's
adores
our
Airport.
A
A
E
E
A
Name
is
Greg
huff,
that's
GRE,
G,
H,
Oh
I
was
simply
going
to
defer
to
the
previous
two
speakers
because
they
couldn't
have
said
it
better.
So
in
the
interest
of
time
we
just
want
to
multiply
their
thoughts
by
tenfold
that
it
would
be
a
travesty
if
that
statue
is
moved
from
where
it
is
today,
so
hope,
you'll
take
that
into
consideration
and
we'll
move
along
very.
D
D
H
Never
my
name
is
Barbara
Foster
and
I
am
so
upset
about
the
thought.
The
Franco
statue
would
be
moved
that
I
could
hardly
speak,
but
my
mother
always
said-
and
my
yoga
teacher
said-
take
deep
breaths,
so
I'm
doing
that
before
I
get
started,
but
while
I
came
into
this
building
today,
Frank
Bogert
was
really
the
reason
we
have
a
convention
center
as
well.
My
husband,
Bill
Foster,
served
on
this
council
for
20
years.
He
was
mayor
two
terms.
Frank
was
mayor.
Two
terms
at
Frank
was
alive
today
he
would
still
be
the
mayor.
H
He
was
that
well
loved
that
well
respected
and
there
wasn't
anything
that
Frank
decided
to
do
that.
Didn't
complete.
He
was
the
biggest
most
lovable
character
that
loved
this
city
with
all
his
heart
and
he
just
was
a
one-of-a-kind
person
and
I'm
the
one
who
got
the
money
put
the
statue
there
celebrated
the
day
and
Frank
was
there,
which
was
nice
because
he
was
on
my
committee
on
my
nonprofit
corporation,
called
the
Walk
of
Stars,
so
we
had
only
put
ten
stars
in
Frank.
We
said
Frank.
He
was
on
my
board.
H
Frank
we've
got
to
do
something
special
for
you.
A
star
is
not
good
enough
for
you.
Oh
hell
is
that
that
bottle
Carrie,
and
so
we
talked
him
into
it
and
he
had
written
two
wonderful
books
called
the
first
hundred
years
and
fortunately
he
came
here
as
a
young
man
as
a
photographer,
and
he
took
pictures
of
all
the
Indians.
He
took
pictures
of
all
the
celebrities.
He
himself
were
in
a
lot
of
them,
but
he
managed,
as
as
a
one
of
art
speaker
said
he
managed
so
many
of
the
club's.
H
He
promoted
everything
and
he
never
was
ever
ever
suspicious
of
taking
money.
Really
the
matter
of
fact
when
he
married
second
time
ney,
he
came
from
Mexico
inches,
oh
my
god,
he
doesn't
have
any
money
and
he
had
promoted
everything
all
over
town.
So
getting
to
this
Convention
Center
I
have
pictures
of
the
with
Frank
in
the
first
Convention
Center
and
as
a
wife
of
a
city
council
for
22
years,
I
had
a
lot
of
opinions
and
I've
been
before
the
council
many
times
and
my
remark:
that's
going
into
posterity.
D
H
Became
one
of
my
things
for
the
Historical
Society
speeches
but
Frank
because
of
his
association
with
everybody,
most
particularly
the
Indians,
and
we
needed
him
desperately
viola
or
ker
needed
him
to
go
to
Washington
in
the
early
days.
We
needed
him
to
go
to
Washington
many
many
times
we
needed
his
ability
to
get
people
together
almost
daily,
and
we
remember
going
through
this
getting
this
bonded.
This
whole
building
bonded,
which
was
only
over
there
and
I,
said
to
my
husband
and
Frank.
It's
too
small
for
God's
sake.
H
What's
the
matter
with
you,
people
well,
a
few
days
later
had
to
refinance
and
get
this.
So
please
don't
move
Frank.
It
is
a
historical
monument.
It
is
not
the
category
of
art.
It
is
a
historical
monument
and
I
want
to
thank
you
for
your
time,
because
I
have
served
on
four
or
five
of
these
committees
over
seventy
years.
So
I
appreciate
your
time,
appreciate
you
hearing
from
us
and
that's
all
I'm
going
to
say-
and
my
daughter
will
be
so
proud
of
me,
because
I'm
shutting
up.
H
My
name
is
nahi
boggart
I
am
the
second
wife.
The
only
thing
I
want
to
ask
you.
Excuse
me:
I
want
to
introduce
Frank's
one
grandson
Jordy.
He
cursed
the
only
thing
I
want
you
to
please
take
in
consideration
that
I
statue,
not
only
because
represents,
or
is
a
tribute
to
my
husband
Frank.
You
had
to
consider
that
it
was
funded
exclusively
with
public
money.
The
city
didn't.
B
I
Afternoon,
I'm
Tom
Kylie
second
generation
Palm,
Springs
native,
when
my
brother,
Owen
and
my
great
grandmother
came
here
a
hundred
and
ten
years
ago,
in
1907
to
a
little
dusty
dirty
road
that
was
Main
Street
to
start
the
Desert
Inn
hotel.
She
really
kind
of
set
in
motion
a
character
for
this
town.
Well,
the
real
character
came
along
in
1934,
with
a
string
of
horses
that
he
had
driven
down
from
Big
Bear
he's
the
guy
that
never
went
away.
We
lost
him
for
a
few
minutes
to
the
war,
but
he
never
forgot
his
town.
I
He
came
back
to
serve
this
town.
His
entire
life
I've
had
the
great
pleasure
of
riding
the
canyons
and
the
desert
trails
with
him.
All
of
my
life
to
say
that
he's
an
extraordinary
man
is
is
an
understatement,
but
I
think
everyone
here
has
a
frank
story.
Everyone
here
can
tell
you
about
the
tremendous
sacrifice
he
made.
I
My
mother
was
fonder,
saying
that
how
can
you
know
where
you're
going?
If
you
don't
know
where
you've
come
from,
and
that's
why
history
was
always
so
much
a
part
of
owns
in
my
life
growing
up?
We
worked
hard
to
preserve
the
history
of
this
town,
not
to
dwell
in
the
past,
but
to
remember
where
we
came
from
to
know
those
people
that
made
a
difference
for
us
to
know
what
it
was.
I
What
courage
it
took
to
survive,
droughts
and
depressions,
and
to
work
tirelessly
with
your
own
money
to
bring
in
the
entire
world
to
America's
destination
resort.
So
everybody
can
tell
you
a
good
story
about
Frank,
but
I.
Think
the
real
story
is
that
we
owe
it
to
the
Past
to
honor
the
past.
We
particularly
owe
it
to
this
incredible
man
that
we
maintain
something
that
this
town
built
for
him.
I
Some
of
you
may
be
really
new
timers
here
and
I
hope
that
you
have
as
long
a
tenure
as
our
family
has,
but
I
hope
that,
in
your
changing
of
the
character,
this
town,
you
won't
forget
the
town
that
welcomed
you.
That
town
was
built
on
people
like
Frank
Boger.
We
have
been
a
welcoming
an
embracing
town
since
the
very
beginning,
since
the
first
guests
that
Nellie
Kauffman
led
into
the
Desert
Inn
boarding
house,
and
we
continue
to
do
that.
But
let's
not
forget
about
those
people
who
made
that
a
welcoming
place
for
us.
I
D
J
J
It's
a
horse
community
that
many
of
you
in
many
of
City
Hall
after
having
discussions
with
him
over
the
last
several
months
are
unaware
of
this
community
was
started,
as
my
brother
said,
by
Nelly
Kaufman
in
1907,
Frank
came
down
the
hill
with
a
string
of
horses
and
there's
been
horses
in
this
town
and
horse
people
in
this
town.
Ever
since-
and
we
are
the
past
we
are
here-
were
the
people
that
welcomed
everybody
and
Frank
was
one
of
the
most
welcoming
people.
I
know
what
a
lot
of
people
haven't
said
here
today
is.
J
He
was
a
two-time
mayor
to
terms
of
that.
He
was
also
fire
chief
of
the
volunteer
fire
department,
Palm
Springs,
which
there
was
a
funny
story
about
him,
not
hearing
the
alarm
one
day
and
counting
the
bells
and
realized,
and
it
was
his
house
on
fire
till
he
got
there.
But
Frank's
door
was
always
open
to
you,
no
matter
who
you
were
or
what
time
of
the
day,
if
you
went
to
the
mayor's
office,
there
was
no
email.
There
was
no
phone
call
when
the
next
person
was
done.
You
could
talk
to
Frank.
J
If
Frank
saw
you
on
the
street,
he
remembered
your
name
and
he
greeted
you
and
all
of
the
the
things
that
Frank
brought
to
this
town
and
all
the
people
he
brought
to
this
to
town
and
the
events
of
this
town.
The
statue
is
minor
tribute
to
what
the
great
things
this
man
did
and
he
was
City
Hall
and
it
always
will
be,
and
he
needs
to
stay
there
in
front
of
City
Hall.
Thank
you.
D
Okay,
well,
thank
you
all,
and
actually
the
history
has
been
wonderful
to
hear
and
one
of
our
responsibilities
as
an
Arts
Commission
is
the
maintenance
and
upkeep
of
the
art
it
does
belong
to
the
city
and
I.
Think
we
really
will
take
note
of
the
idea
of
a
plaque
which
has
occurred
to
me
before
that.
A
lot
of
our
sculptures
don't
have
a
plaque
that
explains
the
history
of
them
or,
while
they're
most
of
our
concerns
by
the
way
about
moving.
D
It
would
had
to
do
with
whether
it's
visible
where
it
is
and
whether
anybody
can
come
up
to
it
and
read
the
plaque
and-
and
we
really
had
just
begun
to
scratch
the
surface,
but
I
think
we've
all
heard
a
lot
today.
That
will
help
us
with
that
decision.
Are
there
any
other
commissioners
that
just
want
to
react?
Even
though
we
can't
do
anything
about
it?
Did.
B
F
F
D
E
C
That
would
encapsulate
everything
that's
been
said
here
today
and
I
Jackie
RG
will
take
on
the
responsibility
of
raising
the
money
on
behalf
of
those
signs
and,
however
many
you
want
to
put
up
and
Harold
Matzner
said
count
me
on
whatever
I
volunteer
to
pay,
so
I'm
sure
we'll
get
50
bucks
from
everybody
back
here.
Maybe
five
I
don't
know,
but
okay
and.
D
Thank
you
for
that
very
helpful
arms,
and
you
know
I
do
remember
that
we
are,
we
are
just
coming
up
with.
We
can
do
a
plaque
on
our
own
anything
else.
Weird.
We
are
in
a
position
to
recommend
things
to
the
City
Council,
and
so
we
will
incorporate
all
of
this
into
our
thinking.
Did
you
want
to
come
say
anything
else?
I.
E
G
B
C
Landscaping
and
now
is
a
time
to
put
in
the
electrical
conduit
that
you
need
to
go
to
the
Statue
to
properly
light
it
I
have
a
friend
who's,
a
lighting
consultant
who
I
can
guarantee
will
donate
his
time
or
I'll
break
his
neck.
He
never
goes
to
another
angel,
baseball
game
and
I'm
sure
he
would
volunteer
his
time.
He
has
worked
with
a
city
before
his
name
is
Ralph
Reyes
and
he's
well
known
to
the
city
and
to
all
the
communities
really
has
worked
for
all
the
cities
here
in
the
desert
for
lighting.

Possible
agenda
topics
for
the
study
session
on
May,
25th
and
I've
written
just
the
beginning
of
a
list
just
to
trigger
people's
thoughts
and
would
welcome
other
major
topics
or
just
things
you
want
to
be
sure
we
fit
in
I
I
know:
we've
talked
about
trying
to
develop
a
schedule
for
next
year.
That
would
have
any
art
exhibits,
we're
going
to
do
or
co-sponsor
the
programs
of
the
Palm
Springs,
Art,
Museum
and
then
other
education
programs
in
the
areas
of
public
outreach.
D
We
set
in
motion
to
have
better
photographs
taken.
We've
talked
about
an
app,
possibly
with
the
tourism
program
that
tourism
app
a
better
use
of
a
website
or
Instagram
I
guess
all
of
these
things
are
a
way
of
doing
a
map
without
doing
a
map
again,
and
the
third
area
would
be
how
we're
going
to
participate
in
the
downtown
park
planning
which
we
will
know
better
after
their
process,
gets
a
little
further
along.
Does
anyone
have
other
topics
they'd
like
to
put
into
the
agenda
for
the
for
the
study
session?
Yes,.
D
B
E
F
Just
what
I
did
prior
to
the
meeting
was
I
printed
out
the
last
study
session
agenda
and
on
that,
what
the
Commission
discussed,
the
2016-17
budget
review
and
the
public
art
collection,
inventory
and
assessment,
discussed
and
evaluate
inventory
status
and
conservation
schedule
and
then
project
and
event,
review,
2017-18,
discuss
and
evaluate
current
and
upcoming
public
arts
project
lists
and
calendar,
including
annual
juried
art,
show
library,
exhibitions
and
student
exhibitions.
I.
Think.
E
D
F
D
F
F
In
your
agenda,
packet,
I
did
include
the
application
to
donate
public
artwork
to
the
city,
so
I
hope
you've
had
a
chance
to
review
that
in
the
application
for
donation
of
artwork.
It
was
some
of
the
specifics
and,
as
we've
mentioned
before
other
meetings,
the
artist
is
Heath's
a
tell
a
los
angeles-based
artists.
The
piece
is
made
out
of
stainless
steel.
I
do
have
a
short
video
to
play
for
you,
which
shows
the
piece.
F
So
there
you
go
so
as
it
was
described
in
previous
meetings.
The
sculpture
is
of
its
stainless
steel,
cut
butterflies,
depicting
the
silhouette
of
a
figure.
That's
laying
down.
F
We
will
should
the
Commission
decide
to
accept
this
sculpture.
The
Commission
will,
or
has
agreed
and
discussed
at
previous
meetings
that
they
would
agree
to
pay
for
a
base
to
Commission
and
have
a
base
for
the
sculpture,
designed
this
application
is
only
for
the
sculptural
part
of
this
of
this
piece
and
we
will
need
to
find
someone
to
build
a
base
for
us,
and
the
artist
has
agreed
to
work
with
me
and
provide
suggestions
and
guidance
as
to
what
he
thinks
a
proper
base
would
be.
Does
anyone
have
any
questions
for
me.
F
That
is
something
that
needs
to
be
discussed.
When
should
the
p6
be
accepted
by
the
Commission
and
should
City
Council
agree
to
accept
this
donation
as
well?
What
how
does
the
Commission
see
this
base
being
designed?
Yes,
do
we
want
to
design
it
in
such
a
way
where
it
will
be,
and
you
know
difficult
to
move,
do
we
want
to
design
some
have
something
created
and
commissioned
that
it
would
make
it
easier
to
move
the
piece
to
different
locations,
not
that
you
want
to
move
sculptures
a
lot,
but
that's
something
to
take
into
consideration
and.
D
D
The
the
group
that's
donating,
it
has
some
ideas
of
what
they'd
like,
but
there
are
a
lot
of
concerns
about
being
in
a
safe
place
where
no
one
could
climb
on
it.
The
usual
issues
that
we
have
that
perhaps
planting
cactuses
won't
entirely
take
up,
take
care
of
so,
but
we
decided
to
it's
really
two
separate
things,
one.
D
They
have
to
give
this
piece
to
the
city,
and
then
we
can
figure
out
where
it
should
guard.
You
and
I
would
note
that
after
they
give
it
to
the
city,
it
belongs
to
the
city,
so
the
city
will
have
the
final
say
as
to
where
it
goes
normally.
You
would
sort
of
do
it
all
at
once,
but
since
this
sculpture
is
really
only
half
done
at
the
moment,
it
would
you
like
to
if
you
come
up
with
you,
want
to
ask
a
question
or
say
something.
J
J
We
don't
have
enough
police
already
in
the
city
and
and
putting
a
fence
around
it.
It's
going
to
block
it
from
you
and
getting
it
up
high
enough
out
of
the
reach
of
people
that
would
climb
on
it
or
do
anything
takes
it
out
of
the
view
of
the
people
wanting
to
see
it.
So
I
really
think
before
the
Commission
goes
to
the
council
to
say
that
we
should
accept
something.
J
D
E
I
just
wanted
to
add
in
response,
the
Commission
also
had
the
same
concerns
that
you
just
voiced
at
the
very
beginning,
and
we
were
very
concerned
with
the
edges
and
things
most
of
those
concerns
were
allayed.
I
mean
it's
hard
to
see
in
the
video,
but
the
artist
who
created
the
piece
is
a
longtime
public
arts
sculptor.
Who
was
well
aware
of
those
concerns
and
we
haven't
seen
it
in
person,
but
we
hope
you
know
we
brought
up
those
same
concerns
so
I
just
want
to.
F
B
J
One
of
the
other
concerns
is
looking
at
something
like
that
is
what
are
the
costs
implied
in
maintaining
that
I
know.
It's
stainless
steel
stainless
steel
dust
outside,
but
it
does
have
problems
year
after
year
that
if
somebody
had
to
go
out
there
and
hand
polish
every
piece
of
that
to
make
it
look
good.
It's
going
to
be
an
expensive
piece
for
us,
the
citizens
to
pay
to
maintain,
even
though
it
might
be
a
beautiful
piece.
No
we're
very.
D
Aware
of
that,
luckily,
the
artist
who
constructed
this
has
several
pieces
that
belong
to
the
city
and
is
is
pretty
aware
of
what
it
takes
to
have
a
piece.
You
know
it
could
even
go
inside
somewhere.
If
that
turns
out
to
be
the
best
location
for
it.
We
just
don't
know,
but
it
is
that
he's
a
very
well
known
and
talented
artist,
and
so
as
a
work
of
art
were
pretty
comfortable,
recommending
that
it
be
accepted
by
the
city,
hi.
A
We
have
strong
winds
and
lots
you're
already
talking
about
areas
where
it
was
at
least
thought
at
one
time
it
might
go
where
there
was
a
lot
of
vegetation
and
but
the
main
thing
and
Olin
brought
it
up.
Oh
and
Kylie
did
is
the
safety
factor
that
those
as
he
said,
they
appear
to
be
shards
of
stainless
steel,
and
it
has
no
approbation
on
the
part
of
the
artist
that
all
the
artists
create.
Something
and
artistry
doesn't
always
be
accompanied
by
safety
or
isn't
always
accompanied
by
safety.
A
F
D
D
F
F
Yeah
well,
but
will
will
it
be
temporary
I
know
a
Tom
you
mentioned
before
that
you'd
like
to
have
Tommy
Tommy
Clinton
at
the
table,
with
the
voice
in
designing
the
sculpture,
should
we
perhaps
work
together
form
a
subcommittee
for
this
work
with
a
special
project
subcommittee
to
kind
of
come
to
a
consensus
as
to
what
we
see
this
base.
Looking
at
looking
like
do
we
want
to
have
it
designed
in
a
way
that
it
could
be
more
temporary?
F
Do
we
want
to
look
at
something
that's
more
permanent
on
a
sidenote
Heath
Sato
has
designed
others
public
art
sculptures
that
are
and
similar
to
this
piece,
and
they
are
in
these.
You
know
manmade
metal
figures
or
these.
This
material
has
been
woven
into
a
more
natural
landscape
so
like
with
rocks
and
plantings,
and
so
do
we
want
to
consider
something
like
that
for
this
piece,
I
mean
there's
many
options
at
many
ways
we
can
go
right
now.
B
G
G
D
G
D
D
D
D
D
G
German
a
recommendation
may
be
in
order
and
correct
me
if
I'm
wrong,
I'm
just
concerned,
there
was
some
question
about
where
she
finally
rest
in
the
new
development
downtown
or
Ruth
Hardy
Park,
if
I'm
not
mistaken.
So
that's
why
I
brought
up
the
issue
of
temporary.
Have
we
decided
or
has
the
City
Council
decided
where
this
final
resting
place
will
be
no.
E
D
D
Time
in
unless
it's
something
that
belongs
to
the
city
I
understand
both
so
I
think,
rather
than
make
a
recommendation
to
the
City
Council.
At
this
point
we
should
agree
to
operate
on
the
notion
that
we
will
try
to
get
this
information
so
that
next
month
we
could
make
a
recommendation
that
included
the
plans
for
a
base
and
the
plans
for
maintenance
and
the
plans
for
a
location.
D
F
E
A
Take
input
on
it
in
base
and
how
the
admissions
as
you're,
just
as
you're
discussing
this,
but
the
thought
I
think
comes
among
many
people
that
are
listening
to
it.
At
least
all
three
of
us
here
still
that,
wouldn't
it
be
an
idea
to
have
an
idea
of
where
you
would
like
to
put
this
unique
sculpture,
and
it
is
a
unique
sculpture,
Network
was
what
should
go
before
you
accept
it.
A
D
D
D
J
With
MS
Henning
here
saying
that
she's
going
to
talk
to
the
artist
and
try
and
set
up
some
meetings
stuff
with
him
and
a
citizen
I
would
be
very
much
interested
in
seeing
a
piece
of
a
sculpture
or
seeing
it
up
close
to
in
it.
Maybe
it's
time
for
some
public
input
on
the
base
for
the
sculpture,
not
just
where
it
goes,
but
as
many
people
said
that
you
know
incorporating
it
into
the
area
where
it
goes,
you
try
and
find
the
surroundings
you
might
have
a
rock
base.
J
Instead
of
you
might
have
a
glass
base,
you
might
have
anything
which
would
change
the
price
of
what
it
cost
us
to
mount
it
and
maintain
it
and
and
basically
keep
it
safe
from
the
graffiti,
and
that
is
you.
People
know
your
entrance
signs
of
city
to
city
on
gene
autry
have
been
vandalized
again
in
the
last
week.
J
Donation
for
free
and
has
his
contracts
went
up
and
more
work
was
involved
in
installing
them
because
of
the
proximity
to
the
stores
and
businesses.
Here,
other
contractors
have
come
in
and
put
them
in
and
it
gets
quite
expensive
to
do
that.
So
I
do
understand,
art,
work
and
I
do
understand
the
cost
of
installation.
So
it
would
be
nice
if
some
of
the
citizens
could
get
together
with
staff
and
indie
artists
and
give
him
some
good
input
of.
J
F
We
can
absolutely
do
that
and
I
know.
Tom
and
I
would
welcome
any
suggestions,
and
you
know
on
the
nice
part
about
the
story-
is
that
the
artist
basically
donated
his
time
to
make
this
and
the
one
little
caveat
he
had
was
I
will
make
the
piece,
but
I
don't
have
time
to
do
a
base.
That's
on
you,
so
so
that
we
knew
that
going
in.
So
that's.
J
J
Involving
the
community
in
it
just
like
we
did
with
JC's
when
we
built
all
the
top
Lots
and
the
parks
and
put
all
the
playground
equipment
into
muth
Park.
We
brought
all
the
community
out,
we
brought
them
neighborhoods
out
and
they
were
part
of
us
building
those
parks
and
those
playgrounds
for
the
families
in
that
community,
and
this
could
be
a
great
thing
that
could
bring
the
local
people
together
and
get
more
things
done.
So.
J
F
J
D
J
Is
there
something
you
can
help
us
with
I
mean
the
mounted
police
went
to
me
18
years
ago
and
said
we
got
a
problem,
we're
building
the
stables
and
we
don't
know
how
to
do
it
and
I
put
over
a
hundred
grand
of
my
money
in
15
years
of
my
time
and
building
them
a
state-of-the-art
Equestrian
Center
which
they
had
till
they
moved
to
los
compadres
so
we're
here
we
can
do
it,
but
we
need
you
to
act.
You
know,
let
us
know
what
we
can
do
and
we're
happy
to
do
it
again.
We.
B
G
F
G
E
G
E
D
D
Eyes
have
it
actually
to
would
pass
in
a
three-person,
quorum
I'm.
So
sorry
that
melanie
has
missed
all
of
this,
but
I
hope
she'll
still
be
able
to
get
here.
The
next
item
on
the
agenda
is
recommendation
regarding
approval
of
the
art
mural
application
by
Lulu,
which
we
looked
at
at
the
last
meeting.
D
D
F
D
Okay,
but
on
the
on,
the
grounds
of
our
area
of
concern
was
the
appropriateness
of
the
mural
and
we
I
believe
agreed
last
time
that
we
would
give
our
recommendation
to
it.
So
at
this
point
we
need
to
because
the
presentation
was
last
time
we
couldn't
make
the
motion.
At
the
same
time,
I
would
entertain
a
motion
to
now
pass
on
our
recommendation
to
the
other
Commission's
and
to
the
council,
and
just.
H
A
D

So
the
motions
on
the
table
to
buy
chair
Scheffer
to
accept
the
resolution,
as
provided
by
staff
and
approve
an
art
mural
application

He
said
at
our
last
meeting
that
once
the
budget
was
voted
on
by
the
city,
he
was
going
to
see
if
some
of
the
special
charges
for
administration
and
insurance
could
be
picked
up
by
the
larger
department
and
not
out
of
the
public
arts
fund.
But
at
the
moment
this
this
budget,
for,
if
you,
if
you
go
online
and
you
look
at
the
city
budget,
it
will
say
that
our
budget
requests
for
next
year
is
the
same
as
it
was
for
this
year,
since
the
amount
of
revenues
are
not
really
predictable.
So.
D
D
Okay,
education,
community
report
from
Commissioner
Murray
thank.
G
You,
madam
chairman,
our
free
Thursday
night
programming
at
the
Palm
Springs
Art
Museum.
So
far,
we've
had
three
invitations
to
show
there
as
such.
Our
third
is
tonight
at
5:00
or
4:30
to
8,
with
the
labyrinth
and
they've
scheduled
a
dancer
and
a
musician.
The
dancers
name
is
Simeon
den
and
the
musicians
name
is
lanai
Hernandez
na
la
I,
I'm,
sorry
na
LAN
Hernandez,
and
they
plan
to
have
some
bowls
and
they've
just
come
up
with
the
museum
has
a
great
walk
tonight.
So
it's
been
a
big
hit.
G
G
D
D
G
D
Has
your
committee
given
any
thought
to
one
more
event
this
year?
Well,
we.
G
We're
waiting
for
the
study
session
in
the
interim,
however,
I
think
it's
a
good
idea
to
continue
to
partner
with
local
artists
and
galleries
and
the
museum
and
people
as
such
in
our
community,
whether
it
be
the
Palm
Springs,
High,
School
or
some
of
the
galleries
in
town.
We
have
a
built-in
audience
mm-hmm
so
so
more
to
come
more
to
come.
Everything
just
happened
so
fast,
but
we've
been
able
to
to
be
successful.
That's.
D
F
F
F
G
F
Shabbos
exhibit
went
extremely
well.
It
was
reported
to
me
that
that,
during
its
during
the
time
it
was
exhibited
the
library
they
had
a
tremendous
interest
in
the
pieces
and
people
asking
about
it.
I
printed
out
materials
that
explained
what
the
show
is
about,
and
they
have
asked
that
and
if
we
would
consider
bringing
it
back
again.
Next
Jim.
G
D
I
think
we
should
we
should
try
to
capture
all
of
these
things
in
some
kind
of
a
report
at
the
end
of
the
year
with
a
you
know,
picture
two
of
each
of
these.
If
it's
a
picture
of
the
labyrinth,
I
think
it
would
be
nice
to
share
it
with
the
City
Council
and
also
just
have
it
maybe
put
it
on
the
city
website
thing.
This
is
these:
were
the
highlights
of
the
year
I.
E
D
D
E
We
met
last
week
the
subcommittee
met
with
Jennifer
and
Denise,
and
Scheffer
and
I
got
together
at
City
Hall
to
try
and
discuss
relocating
some
of
the
pieces,
particularly
the
John
Clements
works.
I
forgot,
my
notes,
I.
Think.
If
I
recall
correctly
right,
we
were
going
to
speak
to
city
manager
about
proceeding
with
that.
So.
F
What
we
had
discussed
at
our
staff
at
our
subcommittee
meeting
was
the
list
of
artwork
to
be
relocated
or
possibly,
relocated
that
and
had
provided
at
the
last
meeting
and
I
believe
everyone
has
a
copy
of
that
in
their
minutes
and
after
Anne
had
met
with
the
city
manager.
It
was
discussed
that
I
will
write
a
memo
to
mr.
F
ruddy
and
outlining
the
pieces
that
we
want
to
move
which
were
including
the
John
Clement
sculptures
and
one
is
located
at
North,
Palm
Canyon
at
via
Lola,
and
that
one's
entitled,
Butch,
it's
red,
the
yellow
and
squiggly
as
they've
come
to
be
referred
to
and
the
yellow
piece
is
called
squeeze.
That
is
in
front
of
Palm,
Canyon
theater
and
then
the
third
piece
is
orange.
F
It's
a
Theal
and
that's
in
front
of
Regal
Cinemas,
so
write
a
memo
to
mr.
Eddy,
letting
him
know
the
Commission
has
the
desire
to
move
them
to
the
median
on
chocolates.
The
other
piece
is
the
blue,
our
hero,
which
is
currently
located
in
front
of
Fire
Station
number.
Three.
Last
month
the
Commission
voted
to
move
that
to
the
southeast
corner
of
Victoria,
Park
and.
D
G
D
I
think
the
way
the
way
we
left
it
was
that
once
we'd
answered
all
these
questions
about
various
things,
that
we
would
give
him
a
list
of
what
we
proposed
to
do
and
he
would
try
to
informally
see
if
there
were
any
any
questions
from
either
council
members
or
city
departments
about
what
we
proposed
to
do.
But
when
we
met
the
other
day,
we
still
had
a
couple
of
things
that
you
know
we
couldn't
do
it
until
we
checked
with
either
where
it
was
going
or
that
so.
E
F
I'm
there
nasty
padded,
I
believe
I
believe
so
Vickie
had
indicated
to
me
that
she
would
be
happy
to
put
us
on
there
and
I
think
there's
been
a
little
confusion
with
the
direction
so
I
I
there's
been
some
confusion,
so
I'll
have
to
check
with
Vicki
and
so
Denise.
You
want
to
speak
to
this.
F
C
I
think
what
we
could
do
is
right
that
you
loud
write
a
memo
to
David
about
the
recommendations
and
then
I
think
just
as
a
heads
up
to
the
the
parks
commission.
Just
let
them
know
this
is
what
we're
thinking
about
doing
I,
don't
think
it
has
to
be
anything
really.
You
know
what
do
you
call
it
formal,
but
just
to
say
this
is
what
they're
doing
I
think
just
you've
called
her.

Requests
from
the
Commission
I'm,
very
sorry
that
melanie
was
not
able
to
get
here
because
I
know
she's
been
working
on
some
of
these
things,
but
is
there
anything
that
needs
to
get
put
on
the
agenda
for
the
next
meeting
or
shall
we
see
what
comes
out
of
the
study
session
and
something
could
be
agendized
after
that
right?
If
so,.
B
A
E
E
J
E
D
G
G
Not
yet
we
so
far
have
had
donations
as
far
as
booties
in
walking
the
labyrinth,
electronic
or
battery
operated
candles,
but
no
I
think
we
should
at
some
point
in
time.
Madam
chairman,
send
us
thank
you
to
st.
Paul
of
the
desert
or
in
the
desert,
Episcopal
Church
for
letting
us
use
the
elaborate
absolutely.
D
That's
a
great
cooperation
that
you
set
up.
It's
done.
It's
been
very
good
and
I'm
working
every
time.
I
go
over
to
the
museum,
I
say
where's,
the
sign
that
says
that
Thursday
nights
are
free
because
of
the
city
funding.
They
got
a
new
electronic
board
and
they
claim
that
it's
you
know
they
don't
know
how
to
program
it.
It's
just
kind
of
a
lame
excuse.
D
I
know
it
flashes.
You
know
certain
cycles
through
things,
but
but
there
have
been
really
a
lot
of
people
every
Thursday
night
and
this
year
we'll
keep
after
them
to
give
us
those
statistics
shortly
after
July
1st,
so
that
they
can
start
the
process
for
next
year.
I
think
we
didn't
get
their
report
till
about
November.
Something
I
mean
that's
why
it
took
so
long
to
get
them
a
check,
partly
because
they
they
didn't
realize
they
had
to
provide
us
with
that
information
and
because
they
have
it
changing
development
directors.
No.
