Obviously,
there's
no
one
here
for
public
comments,
because
I
know
that
the
mural
society
knows
how
the
drill
works.
So
at
that
time
you
know
we'll
hear
from
kelly.
So
any
comments
about
the
minutes
that
were
included
in
the
package
I've
seen
none.
May
I
have
a
motion
motion
to
approve.
A
B
Motion
carries
unanimously,
there
are
no
certificates
of
appropriateness,
so
if
we
can
move
on
to
general
business.
D
The
boat
club
did
come
in
previously
for
to
city
council,
for
an
update
on
some
upgrades
to
the
building
facades,
which
is
part
of
their
police
agreement.
They
were
required
to
do
the
boat
club
building
sits
on
city
land.
That
is
so
city
council,
wanted
to
ensure
that
both
this
building
and
any
future
renovations
to
the
bayfront
center,
the
white,
the
white,
the
building
that
the
y
leases
at
gill
press
park
at
least
sort
of
rhymed
together
and
we
didn't
get.
You
know
too
far,
tangential
off
everything
in
the
park.
E
All
right
kelly,
good
morning,
kelly
gaylord
from
the
puna
gorda
historic
mural
society
here
this
morning
to
share
with
you
our
newest
project.
It
is
going
to
capture
the
70
plus
year
history
of
the
punta
gorda
boat
club,
and
be
presented
in
three
panels.
Each
panel
is
about
ten
foot
by
five
foot
across
the
front
of
the
building.
As
you
see
here
on
red
esplanade
panel,
one
will
depict
the
beginnings
of
the
club
in
the
early
years.
E
The
60s
and
70s
grew
out
of
the
city
wanting
to
attract
tourists
and
the
hydroplane
races
were
the
big
attraction
at
the
time
and
to
sponsor
that
they
need.
We
needed
a
boat
club.
So
such
it
became,
and
it
was
really
john
ross
rose.
Sorry
who
was
the
spark
plug
who
birthed
the
the
boat
club,
as
well
as
the
regattas
that
drew
tons
of
people
to
puna
gorda
and
then
in
the
60s
the
club
built
its
original
building
on
this
site.
E
E
The
second
panel
will
capture
the
club
and
its
focus
during
the
80s
and
90s,
which
included
enlarging
the
building
featuring
two
additions
that
were
made
to
accommodate
the
the
membership
that
was
growing
and
also
the
regional
sailing
regattas
that
occurred
in
those
times
co-sponsored
by
other
groups
as
well,
and
then,
when
not
racing,
of
course,
the
club
members
started
overnight
cruising
and
expanded
cruising
to
other
areas
in
off
of
florida.
The
other
thing
that
they
started
doing
at
that
time
was
the
sunflower
raft-ups
where
they
would
all
join
together.
E
So
that's
featured
in
in
the
second
panel
panel
three
as
the
club
continued
to
grow
really,
which
captures
the
activities
from
about
2000
on
and
the
activities
can
continue
to
involve,
including
the
annual
cardboard
boat,
races
and
overnight
boat
overnight
sailing
and
power
boat
cruising
and
then
the
addition
of
kayaking
to
the
club
and
that's
in
panel
three.
E
As
we
said,
this
will
be
on
the
agenda
for
the
next
council
meeting
and
once
the
mural
will
start
once
all
the
funds
are
erased.
Questions.
B
B
Panel,
the
last
panel
has
kayaking
no,
the
one
at
the
end
on
the
other
side
of
the
door.
Oh
that's
their.
D
B
Yes,
I
will
say
one
thing,
because
we
live
across
the
street
from
this
and
we're
members,
although
we
don't
just
because
we
want
to
know
what's
going
on,
but
anyway,
I
think
they've
done
a
super
job
and
I'm
impressed
with
the
fact
that
their
volunteers
do
everything
I
mean
all
the
you
know
the
construction
and
the
planting.
I
mean
it
is
an
unbelievable
enterprise
that
they
have
going
on.
I
mean
that's,
it's
very
impressive.
C
And
I
mean
go
ahead:
they
I've
been
over
there
several
times
over
the
years,
but
I've
been
involved
with
sailing
for
a
long
time
and
most
of
my
sailing
experience
was
in
clearwater
florida
and
there
we
had
a
sailing
organization
called
the
seafarers
and
then
the
local
clearwater
yacht
club
and
cartwell
all
had
sailing
programs
and
moving
forward
about
six
years,
and
you
suddenly
see
that.
Oh
no,
it's
too
much.
Let's
make.
E
C
Better
50
years
you
see
the
results
of
the
growth
of,
and
continuation
of,
the
sailing.
They
have
two
olympian
sailor
graduates,
one's
a
bronze
medal
and
the
other
one,
I
think,
is
a
silver
medal
through
their
sailing
programs
in
the
interstate
generated
from
the
olympics.
Rick
gradua
and
I
don't
know
the
other
person,
but
they
both
became.
B
D
B
A
D
D
So,
just
to
let
you
know,
we've
reached
out
to
to
invite
them
to
the
february
meeting,
so
the
his
puna
gorda
historic
archive,
puna,
gorda,
historical
society,
the
mural
society,
blanchard
house,
museum
and
team
punta
gorda,
representatives
from
all
of
those
organizations,
have
been
invited.
If
there
are
any
others
that
you
would
like
us
to
invite,
please
let
us
know
either
now
or
anytime,
and
we
will.
We
will
reach
out
to
those
folks,
individuals
or
organizations
as
well.
B
Okay,
so
and
again
as
a
reminder,
the
subject
is
the
preservation
of
the
ac
freeman
house
to
see
if
we
can't
come
up
with
ideas
on
how
we
can
collaborate
to
help
the
city
raise
funds
to
preserve
it.
I
mean
my
personal
view:
is
it's
a
linchpin
to
our
you
know
historic,
designation
and
heritage?
So
it's,
I
think,
super
important
that
we
at
least
try
to
help
in
that
regard.
Is
it
can
I
ask
kelly
a
question
sure?
Okay,
are
there
any
others
you
would
suggest
involving.
E
E
E
Their
his
history
services
staff
is
separate,
that's
a
county
yeah,
but
I
know
theresa.
B
Okay,
yeah,
I
think
we
all
have
cross
memberships
in
one
way
or
another,
but
again
the
more
the
merrier,
because
I
think
we
really
want
to
take
this
opportunity
to
see
what
it
is
we
can
do
and
at
least
have
a
point
of
view
in
working
with
the
city
on
the
project.
Okay,
so
that's
great
mitchell!
Thank
you
also,
since
I
think
we're
now
into
just
one
yeah
go
ahead.
You
mentioned.
C
E
So
yeah
so
the
sarasota,
the
community
foundation
of
sarasota
county,
that's
their
official
name.
They
you
can
apply
for
grants
and
the
mural
society
has
done
it
many
times.
You
can
do
that
if
you're
part
of
the
giving
partner
program
as
a
non-profit
and
a
lot
of
that
money
comes
from
various
foundations,
etc
in
throughout
sarasota,
probably
in
other
counties
as
well.
The
patterson
foundation
is
a
different
thing.
E
E
B
B
C
I
think
we
might
consider
that
as
a
if
we
find
some
volunteers
or
a
group
to
or
form
one
eventually
that
could
apply
for
a
grant
up
there.
I
don't
know
if
we
can
as
a
city,
I
don't
think
we
can,
but
we
could-
and
I
don't
know
if
you're
probably
all
familiar
with
how
that
works
too.
B
C
You
have
until
the
end
of
february
to
get
organization
registered
with
the
giving
challenge,
in
other
words
they
have
to,
and
once
you're
approved
for
that
you
can
do
the
giving
challenge-
and
you
can
also
then
apply
for
grants
through
sarasota
and
charlotte
county
is
part
of
the
patterson
foundation
and
and
the
group
up
there
that
support
or
not
support
is
probably
not
the
right
word
but
cooperate
with
marion
county
charlotte
county
sarasota.
C
That's
all
part
of
the
what
goes
in
to
that
group,
and
until
this
year
I
have
submitted
the
point,
gordon
rotary
foundation
done
the
work
for
you
there's
just
barely
enough
time
to
get
it
done
by
their
deadline.
At
the
end
of
february,
the
idea
being
that
once
you're
qualified
for
the
giving
challenge,
then
you
are
qualified
to
apply
for
grants.
B
C
Right:
okay,
so
they
own
the
that
freeman
house
right.
C
C
If
I
had
one
more
minute,
I
can
give
you
a
little
background
on
how
that
would
work
as
a
group
for
the
giving
challenge
you
don't
have
to
it's
best,
if
you
have
a
purpose
of
applying
to
be
a
part
of
the
giving
challenge
and
apply
for
a
grant
later,
if,
when
approved,
when
your
organization
is
approved,
but
what
you
do
need
is
a
project
that
benefits
the
community
and
the
freeman
house.
Would
the
fact
that
the
city
owns?
C
It
is
not
a
problem
that
I
see,
because
I've
been
aware
of
where
similar
giving
challenges
have
supported
plaques
for
cities
for
historical
endeavors
for
murals,
even
if
it's
on
a
city
building
or
it's
on
a
city
property.
Just
a
thought
and
I'd
be
happy
to
talk
to
anybody
about
it
and
see.
If
we
could
pursue
it,
maybe
we
could
pursue
it
through
rotary.
Maybe
we
could
pursue
it
through
another
organization,
saying
that
that's
their
purpose.
D
No
other
than
like
the
city
is
still
in
the
design
process
for
this
project.
We
wouldn't
anticipate
given
the
number
of
projects
that
we
have
currently
underway
and
that
and
the
timing
of
the
design
portion
that
this
project
would
be
in
construction
until
next
year.
D
Also,
there's
and
to
my
mind,
probably
the
more
difficult
piece
from
a
city
perspective
from
a
city
staff
perspective
is
the
operation
of
the
facility,
so
we
may
be
talking
about
23-24
when
we
need
an
operational
plan
for
this
facility,
and
that
may
be
the
point
where
you
know
the
the
group
that
we're
trying
to
get
together
here
really
needs
to
be.
You
know
in
high
gear,
moving
down
the
road
to
make
that
function
so.
B
We
have
a
good
working
relationship
with
mural
society,
but
we
really
need
to
have
more
working
relationships
with
the
others
and,
and
we
have
had
projects
like
we've
worked
with
the
history
center
on
plaques,
you
know,
but
but
again
I
think
this
is
a
great
opportunity
to
bring
everybody
together
at
one
time
and
see
how
we
can
work
together
and
we
do
have
time
on
this
building
and
then
we
won't
know
about
the
state
grant
until
this
summer.
Right.
B
A
B
B
B
A
D
So
there
there's
nobody
on
city
staff.
That
is
an
expert
at
grant.
Writing
we,
when,
whenever
we
see
a
grant
that
we
might
be
qualified
for
we,
we
jump
at
that
opportunity
and
do
the
best
we
can,
but
we're
we're
no
experts,
and
as
far
as
seeking
out
grants,
we
don't
spend
our
time
any
of
our
time
doing
that
it
just
happens
to
be
when
we
see
them
more
or
less.
D
B
Well
again,
that's
part
of
the
funding
puzzle
for
the
freeman
house
and
and
grants
take
time,
as
we
all
know
so
again,
if
you
guys
have
the
time
or
the
inclination,
I
think
the
city
would
be
greatly
appreciate
that
help.
Yes,
okay,
there
are
no
other.
Obviously
there
are
no
public
comments.
If
there
is
no
other
business,
we
are
adjourned.
Okay,
thank
you.
