As
we
gather
here
this
evening,
we
all
thirst
for
the
words
that
will
soothe
our
emotions,
our
memories,
the
realization
and
the
reliving
of
that
dark
night.
Just
one
year
ago
in
which
we
lost
a
mother,
a
daughter,
a
son,
a
father,
a
wife,
a
husband,
a
neighbor,
a
friend
a
night
which
transformed
a
neighborhood
and
a
city
forever
this
evening
is
not
the
time
to
talk
about
regulations
or
regulators
about
rules
or
statistics.
B
This
evening
is
our
time
to
remember
and
celebrate
the
humanity
of
our
community
for
Livan
bullis
for
Greg
bullis
for
will
bullas
for
James
Franco,
for
Jacqueline
Greg,
for
janessa
Greg,
for
Jessica
Morales
and
for
Elizabeth
Torres
for
the
many
who
were
severely
injured
for
the
emotionally
and
physically
scarred
neighborhood
of
crestmore
glenview
and
for
the
entire
city
of
San
Bruno.
We
pledged
never
to
forget,
perhaps
in
our
quest
to
relieve
our
in
quen
tional
thirst
for
words.
We
realized
that
mere
words
are
not
enough.
B
C
We
are
a
portion
of
the
clergy
of
San
Bruno.
Some
of
you
are
members
of
congregations
throughout
the
city.
Not
all
of
the
pastors
rabbis
and
other
clergy
could
be
here
tonight,
but
I
believe
all
of
them
are
here
in
their
hearts.
The
faith
community
thanks
the
city
leaders
of
San
Bruno
for
recognizing
that
we
are
part
of
the
larger
community
and
our
hearts
echo.
The
anguish
of
this
neighborhood
now
in
this
city
has
been
unaffected
by
the
events
of
a
year
ago.
C
We
have
sought
to
be
part
of
the
recovery
effort
not
only
in
the
rebuilding
of
homes,
but
also
in
the
rebuilding
of
lives
and
families.
All
rebuilding
takes
longer
than
we
wish
and
it
requires
a
good
foundation.
We
are
here
to
help
even
tonight.
If
you
need
to
talk,
cry,
pray
or
just
have
someone
sit
with
you.
We
have
counselors
available
and
we
ourselves
are
available
right
here
in
the
cafeteria.
C

A
D
C
Let
us
pray
God,
make
me
brave
for
life
hope
braver
than
this.
Let
me
straighten
after
pain
as
a
tree
straightens
after
the
rain
shining
and
lovely
again,
God
make
me
brave
for
life
much
braver
than
this.
As
the
blown
grass
lifts.
Let
me
rise
from
sorrow
with
quiet
eyes.
Knowing
that
thy
way
is
wise,
God
make
me
brave.
Life
brings
such
blinding
things.
Help
me
to
keep
my
sight
help
me
to
see
a
right
that
out
of
dark
comes
the
light
God
of
our
life.
C
There
are
days
when
the
burdens
we
carry
chafe
our
shoulders
and
weigh
us
down
when
the
road
seems
dreary
and
endless
the
skies
gray
and
threatening
when
our
lives
have
no
music
in
them,
and
our
hearts
are
lonely
and
our
souls
have
lost
their
courage.
Flood
the
path
with
light
run
our
eyes
to
where
the
skies
are
full
of
promise
tune.
C
Our
hearts
to
brave
music,
give
us
a
sense
of
comradeship
with
heroes
and
saints
of
every
age,
and
so
quicken
our
spirits
that
we
may
be
able
to
encourage
the
souls
of
all
who
journey
with
us
on
this
road
of
life.
To
your
honor
and
glory
and
to
the
precious
God
we
pray,
amen
and
may
God
be
with
you.
