A
Bob
and
nancy
he
tapped
my
shoulder
at
one
of
the
events
right
after
right
after
this
tragedy,
when
we
were
trying
to
get
things
oriented-
and
he
said
he
gave
me
a
note-
and
he
said
I'm
going
to
be
the
first
to
rebuild-
and
I
put
my
hand
on
his
shoulder,
and
I
said,
I'm
going
to
be
there
to
dig
that
hole
and
cut
that
ribbon,
and
here
we
are
today,
eight
months
after
and
like
I
said,
the
city
of
san
bernardino
couldn't
be
more
proud.
This
is
this
is
wonderful.
A
I'm
joined
today
by
a
number
of
city
officials,
a
lot
of
planning
and
building
the
police
department,
the
fire
department,
city
clerk
and
a
couple
of
council
members
can,
I
bear
enrico
medina
and
welcome
to
all
of
you.
So
I'm
going
to
give
you
to
someone
who
is
a
very
tight
schedule
today,
our
congresswoman
jackie
speer,
who
has
been
with
us
since
day,
one.
B
Jackie,
I
don't
know
about
you,
but
I
feel
pretty
tingly.
This
is
very
exciting
for
all
of
us
and
much
like
the
birth
of
my
first
child.
I'm
I'm
feeling
the
the
exhilaration
that
I
know
everyone
who
has
been
part
of
the
san
bruno
community
for
the
last
eight
months
phil.
I
first
want
to
say
to
mayor
wayne
to
the
city
council
members
to
the
city
manager
to
the
entire
city
staff.
You
rock
you
absolutely
rock.
B
B
It's
about
rebirth,
it's
about
resilience
and
it's
about
remembering
rebirth,
because
there's
a
brand
new
house
that's
going
to
be
put
here
for
the
hansel's
who,
thank
god,
nancy
was
traveling
in
europe
and
bob
was
got
into
his
car
and
took
off
and
opened
the
door
for
the
two
kittens
or
cats
in
the
back
and
when
he
came
back,
he
found
a
little
cat
that
was
all
dusty,
took
it
to
the
humane
society
and
when
no
one
retrieved
th
the
cat
they
adopted,
dusty
and
dusty
will
be
forever.
B
A
great
remembrance
of
all
that
came
before
I
just
want
to
say
that
this
city
was
a
tight-knit
city.
When
the
explosion
happened,
it's
been
a
tight-knit
city
as
they
have
recovered,
and
it
will
continue
to
be
a
tight-knit
city
of
people
that
really
care
about
each
other
and
people
that
believe
in
this
community.
They've
grown
up
here,
they've
raised
their
children
here,
hansel's
have
been
here
since
1946
and
in
this
very
in
the
in
74
here
in
this
very
plot
of
land.
So
there's
good
reason
for
this
rebirth
to
take
place.
B
A
This
is
an
ongoing
story
for
us
people
say
to
me
in
the
morning:
is
it
quieted
down?
I
say
today's
another
day
we're
gonna
write
another
chapter:
we
don't
know
how
long
it's
gonna
take,
but
this
is
an
especially
especially
wonderful
day
when
we
can
actually,
after
eight
months
after
a
terrible
tragedy
hit,
our
city
can
actually
rebuild,
and
these
are
the
people
that
are
going
to
do
it
first.
Would
you
like
to
say
a
few
words.
C
Come
on
come
on
up
here.
Well,.
D
D
So
you
know
we're
just
glad
to
be
here
and
want
to
get
back
in
the
house
quit
soon
as
possible
and
we
hope
all
our
neighbors
the
best
of
luck.
Also,
we
can
see
that
there
are
a
little
bit
of
progress
going
on
where
they're
doing
a
soil
sample
across
the
street,
and
unfortunately
I
did
that
several
weeks
ago,
or
maybe
almost
a
month
ago
now.
So
it
got
me
a
little
bit
ahead
of
most
of
my
neighbors.
So
we'll
hope
to
get
their
houses
back
partly
for
a
wind
block.
It's
awful
today.
C
A
C
Well,
anything
else,
jackie,
no
well,
the
contractor's.
A
And
weather
permitting
right,
it's
not
getting
any
warmer,
so
I
think
that
concludes
our
shovel
shoveling
today.
I
just
want
to
say
it
wasn't
too
many
months
ago
that
right
over
in
one
of
the
lots
over
there,
they
asked
me
to
take
a
shovel
and
take
the
last
bit
of
debris
off
of
this
site,
which
we
did
and
today
is
truly
gratifying.
It's
we're
really
looking
forward
to
rebuilding
this
whole
community.
Thank
you
very,
very
much.
Thanks
to
the
city
of
san
bruno.
