Description
San Bruno City Council Meeting February 12, 2013
10b. Technology Disaster Recovery Project
A
B
Evening,
honorable
mayor
and
members
of
the
City
Council,
as
the
mayor
stated,
this
item
requires
your
approval
to
execute
a
contract
with
bear
data
solutions
in
the
amount
of
ninety-nine
thousand
four
hundred
fifty
four
dollars
and
eighty
six
cents
for
the
technology
disaster
recovery
project.
As
stated
in
the
staff
report,
we
perform
nightly
tape
backups
to
protect
an
archive
the
city's
data.
This
process
is
being
used
in
lieu
of
a
long-term
or
maybe
a
longer-term
disaster
recovery
system
to
protect
the
entire
city's
technology
infrastructure
and
our
electronic
or
digital
assets.
B
These
assets
include,
but
are
not
limited
to
our
email,
records
or
financial
data
personnel
records,
utility
and
customer
information,
and
our
emergency
response:
databases
for
san
bruno
and
millbury
fire
departments
by
enhancing
or
upgrading
our
existing
virtual
machine
and
storage
technology
or
infrastructure.
The
project
goal
is
to
have
a
temporary
data
center,
fully
functional
located
in
Police
Plaza
within
four
hours
of
a
major
outage
in
our
city
hall
data
center,
and
this
will
protect
the
assets
mentioned
earlier
and
also
ensure
that
our
city
city,
business
processes
can
continue.
B
B
The
project
includes
the
installation,
installation
of
two
storage
systems,
they're
identified
as
primary
and
secondary.
The
primary
storage
system
is
going
to
replace
our
existing
five
year
old
and
end
of
life
storage
system
located
in
san
bruno
city
hall,
data
center,
all
data
and
all
servers
are
going
to
be
migrated
to
this
primary
system.
The
secondary
system,
again
located
in
Police
Plaza,
will
be
a
mirror
image
of
this
primary
system
and
using
the
included
software.
B
We
did
agree
that
ver
datas
proposal
was
the
most
responsive
to
the
city
specifications
and
our
needs,
and
their
data
has
installed
similar
storage
systems
for
the
semi
to
santa
clara
county
office
of
education
and
for
the
city
of
Cupertino
and
currently
and
for
the
past
four
years.
They
have
provided
support
and
maintenance
to
the
san
bruno,
cable,
digital
phone
infrastructure
and
on
october
23rd
you
approved
the
five-year
capital
improvement
program
budget
and
in
that
budget,
was
funding
of
131
thousand
dollars
for
this
project.
B
So
therefore,
they're
not
a
part
of
the
contract,
with
bare
data
I'm
happy
to
answer
any
questions
you
may
have,
but
staff
recommendation
is
to
adopt
the
resolution
authorizing
the
city
manager
to
execute
a
contract
with
bear
data
solutions
in
the
amount
of
ninety-nine
thousand
four
hundred
fifty
four
dollars
and
eighty
six
cents.
Any
questions
of
stuff.
C
B
E
If
there's
no
other
discussion,
thank
you
for
the
report.
This
is
something
I
think
it's
about.
It's
been,
we've
talked
about,
it
I'm
glad
is
getting
implemented.
You
never
know
we
have
to
prepare
where
to
be
ready
and
I.
Think
something
that's
long
overdue.
So
I
go
ahead
and
introduce
the
resolution
for
adoption.
