Description
San Bruno City Council Meeting January 14, 2014
11. Traffic Safety and Parking Committee Annual Report
A
B
Good
evening,
gentlemen
I
am
presenting
for
a
review
of
2013
a
little
bit
of
what
we're
planning
to
do
in
2014.
You'll,
see,
of
course,
I'm.
The
chair
mark
Howard
is
my
vice
chair.
Our
members
are
Eric,
would
Tom
Hamilton
and
Tim
Ross
our
staff
support
Clara,
fabry,
Joseph,
Cervantes,
Tim
man
and
Troy
Frey
will
be
our
new
police
consultant.
B
Our
responsibilities
are
to
review
and
recommend
actions
to
the
City
Council
involving
traffic
calming
parking
and
local
traffic
issues.
We
review
policies
and
programs
affecting
traffic
and
parking
for
final
City
Council
action.
This
includes
parking
restriction,
applications
which
we
adopted
in
2010,
the
traffic
calming
toolkit
adopted
in
2011
and
the
crosswalk
installation
guidelines,
which
were
adopted
just
this
past
year.
In
2013,
we've
held
public
meetings
to
engage
the
community.
We've
done
mailers
a
city
website,
city
staff,
contact
info
monthly
public
meetings.
This
year
we
had
41
residents
and
business
owners
attend
our
meetings.
B
In
the
past
year
we
were
able
to
conduct
analysis
of
traffic
conditions
around
Parkside
intermediate
school
during
the
drop-off
and
pickup
hours.
This
includes
Jenna
vunnava,
new
cedar,
avenue,
hawthorne
avenue
and
Niles
avid
Avenue
frontage.
Also,
we've
done
traffic
analysis
at
el
cristal
elementary
school
and
san
bruno
avenue.
West
crestmore
drive
intersection
traffic
calming
this
year.
We've
met
with
a
lot
of
communities,
a
lot
of
neighborhoods
Cedar,
Avenue
Courtland
drive
seventh
Avenue
college,
dr
commodore,
dr
cypress
avenue
oak
avenue
and
colby
way.
B
We've
also
made
some
improvements
to
san
bruno
city
park,
which
you
know
I
am
just
so
excited
for.
We
now
have
the
area
near
the
tennis.
Courts
marked
a
little
better,
especially
in
time
for
little
league
season,
everybody's
been
using
that
path
as
a
crosswalk.
So
now
we
have
some
markings
just
to
let
the
drivers
know
that
there
are
people
crossing
there.
B
We
did
a
lot
of
work
with
shelter
creek
this
year,
because
we
did
have
to
implement
the
street
sweeping
science
over
in
shelter
creek.
It
was
to
include
them
in
a
in
the
signage
we've
already
had
throughout
the
city,
but
this
was
a
lengthy
process
where
we
had
to
deal
with
no
parking
restrictions,
coordination
with
the
shelter,
creek
homeowners
association
and
eventually
getting
the
street
signage
out
for
the
street
sweeping
program.
B
As
all
the
changes
go
through
also,
we
we
mentioned
earlier
that
we
are
now
getting
that
city
contact
information
out
there
more
to
the
to
the
public.
So,
of
course,
if
you
have
any
traffic
issues,
you
can
call
the
department
of
public
services
or
send
an
email
through
the
hyper
link
on
our
website.
C
Well,
each
year
that
the
report
is
given,
I
I
respected
it
even
more
because
it
was
my
beginning
on
traffic
safety
and
parking
committee,
and
it's
never
ending.
Isn't
it
there's
always
something
and
I
can't
imagine
the
things
that
you
were
reviewing
year
after
year
now,
because
it
was
just
read:
curbing
zand,
stop
signs
when
I
sat
on
the
board,
but
I
really
appreciate
everything
that
you've
done
it
and
as
the
city
has
changed,
and
as
we
get
a
great
separation
and
that
whole
area
is
gonna
change,
you'll
you'll
have
your
hands
full
in
2014.
A
You
very
much
once
again
as
Kenan
Michael
and
for
the
council
on
this
staff
in
the
city.
Thank
you
for
all
your
efforts
in
your
work
and
please
take
that
back
to
the
committee.
There
will
be
more
as
Ken
mentioned
coming
down,
as
we
would
bark
up
on
this
new
year.
So,
but
once
again,
thank
you
to
all
of
you
for
everything
that
you
do.
Thank.
