Description
San Bruno City Council Meeting
October 14, 2014
11. Senior Citizens Advisory Board Annual Report
B
Good
evening,
mayor
and
council
persons
I've
been
a
long
time
since
I've
been
here
guys,
I'm
here
today
to
present
the
wonderful
report
that
the
staff
prepared
for
you
on
the
front
you'll
see
the
different
activities
that
the
Senior
Center
offers.
The
most
popular
ones
are
Bochy
the
nutrition,
a
lunch,
the
exercise
classes,
the
dancing
which
is
not
pictured
here
and
the
pool
the
advisory
board
consists
of
seven
people
and
myself
as
an
ex-officio
member,
and
they
do
a
wonderful
job
and
there's
a
lot
of
energy
in
that
group.
The.
B
Senior
Center
is
very
welcoming.
We
allow
anybody
to
come
and
we
welcome
everybody
and
the
participation
did
go
up
a
little
bit
this
year,
not
significantly
but
just
a
little
bit,
but
we're
always
open
to
anybody,
and
this
number
is
taken
by
the
people
who
sign
in
and
I
think
there's
a
good
five
or
ten
percent
who
do
not
sign
in
they
don't
want
their
name
any
place.
B
B
So
we
had
to
work
around
that
one
of
my
favorite
things
is
the
person
who
sits
at
the
desk
and
gives
referrals
Susan
just
retired
from
this
job
and
laura
has
taken
it
over
and
then
they
have
marvelous
information.
Anybody
who
has
who
needs
anything
for
a
senior
whether
it
be
the
senior
themselves
or
any
family
member
can
call
this
number
and
they
will
give
them
help
and
they
will
refer
them
to
of
everything
from
legal
people
to
people
who
do
cleanups
for
them.
B
So
that's
a
very
good
in
a
useful
tool
that
we
do
here.
The
nutrition
site
council
supports
the
senior
senator
luncheons
by
donating
annually,
$100,000
and
last
year.
We
also
donated
the
photocopier,
the
money
for
the
photocopier
for
this,
and
it's
a
wonderful
running,
prints
and
color
and
fast
and
quick,
and
it
hasn't
jammed
up
yet
so
that's
even
better.
Now
the
most
popular
programs
are
the
bingo
which
is
15,000
347,
the
aerobic
exercises
which
is
packed
when
you
come
into
the
classroom
in
the
morning
and
the
pool
room
and
bocce
and
then
special
events.
B
B
We
have
a
hundred
and
forty
volunteers
who
give
almost
18,000
hours
and
they
helped
in
every
different
way
they
help
at
the
desk.
They
help
in
the
volunteer
of
the
preparing
of
the
food.
They
help
with
all
the
leagues,
the
sports
leagues,
that
we
do
they
volunteer
at
bingo
and
they
perform
they.
They
organize
the
trips
that
go
to
the
casinos,
which
are
quite
popular
last
year
of
the
Senior
Center
replaced
the
sound
system
which
is
used
for
bingo
and
the
classes
and
special
events.
B
They
have
replaced
the
photocopier
and
they
provided
500
more
meals
than
the
previous
year
and
some
of
the
goals.
A
couple
of
the
goals
for
this
year
are
to
establish
a
subcommittee
to
work
with
staff
in
evaluating
the
class
and
program
development
and
to
ensure
the
maximum
member
participation
and
the
ability
to
fill
the
needs
for
the
community
at
the
time,
and
the
other
thing
is
to
continue
to
explore
the
potential
to
install
in
the
lobby
here
and
electronic
marquee
okay.
So
that's
it
for
me.
B
I've
been
volunteering
here
personally
for
20
years
and
I've
enjoyed
every
minute
of
it
and
I
think
it's
a
wonderful
group
and
I
think
it'd
serve
such
a
purpose.
Here
we
have
people
who
come
from
as
far
away
as
Redwood,
City
and
San
Francisco,
because
this
is
the
best
senior
center
on
the
peninsula.
Any
questions
thank.
