Description
What's Happening Around Town
July 2015
For the City of San Bruno
A
Welcome
to
what's
happening
around
town,
my
name
is
stephanie
chaves.
I
will
lead
you
on
a
journey
exploring
all
of
the
events
and
highlights
that
your
city
has
planned
for
you,
your
neighbors
and
your
friends
for
the
month
of
july
2015
so
sit
back
for
a
few
minutes
and
enjoy
our
show.
Citizens
who
live
in
san
bruno
are
fortunate
because
of
how
close
we
live
to
nature,
drive
up
towards
skyline
or
look
into
the
canyons
with
in
san
bruno
city
limits.
The
wildland
urban
interface
is
right
there.
With
that
closeness.
A
The
responsibility
is
on
our
shoulders
to
keep
it
safe
and
with
the
lack
of
rains
in
2015,
we
are
looking
at
a
lot
of
dry
trees,
shrubs
and
grasses
that
are
so
very
flammable.
It
is
more
important
than
ever
to
ensure
your
family's
safety
by
following
these
guidelines,
remove
all
combustible
vegetation
and
dry
brush
within
100
feet
of
your
home
or
property
line,
trim
trees.
So
the
tips
of
the
lowest
limbs
are
at
least
six
feet
from
the
ground,
or
at
least
10
feet
above
chimneys
design.
A
Your
landscaping
with
fire
resistant,
please
ensure
your
irrigation
system,
is
maintained
and
operating
efficiently.
Don't
water
beyond
your
landscaping
and
have
an
emergency
plan
in
place
in
case
of
fire
and
make
sure
your
entire
family
knows
the
plan
for

It
will
be
held
on
two
different
days:
sunday
july
26
and
Sunday
September
13,
hundreds
of
shoppers
peruse
the
aisles
of
merchandise,
coming
away
with
great
bargains
and
having
a
fun
time
at
this
local
event,
and
there
is
no
entrance
fee
for
buyers.

A
Eight

you

I

prior
to
the
event
hurry
over
to
the
recreation
office
to
sign
up
for
the
youth
triathlon
on
saturday
july.
18
here
is
a
safety
message
from
the
san
bruno
police
department,
on
identity
theft
and
how
you
can
best
avoid
it.
Hi.
B
I'm
Shaun
Greathouse
detected
with
the
San
Bruno
Police
Department
and
I
wanted
to
speak
with
you
today
about
one
of
the
ways
that
you
can
limit
your
exposure
to
identity
theft.
So,
as
you
think
about
these
different
things
that
are
coming
to
you,
credit
card
information,
whether
it
be
your
account
balances
or
the
credit
card
statement,
your
bank
statements
that
have
your
account
number
related
to
your
savings
accounts
or
checking
accounts
for
those
things.
B
All
of
those
things
that
would
be
mailed
to
your
home
can
be
intercepted
before
they're
ever
in
your
hands,
and
they
would
provide
a
lot
of
information
to
the
person
who
then
has
acquired
them.
So
I
would
encourage
you
to
use
the
internet,
use
the
services
that
have
been
put
in
place
by
your
credit
card
companies
by
the
banks
to
do
things
electronically.
You
can
receive
statements
electronically,
you
can
do
bill
pay
electronically.
B
You
can
use
a
number
of
items
that
they
have
set
up
for
you
that
afford
you
greater
protection
and
also
allow
them
to
track.
What's
going
on
with
your
accounts,
so
don't
be
afraid
to
use
the
internet
to
your
advantage.
It's
an
excellent
tool.
It's
out
there
and
available
to
most
everyone
wherever
you
live,
and
we
would
just
encourage
you
to
start
thinking
about
that
and
moving
in
that
direction.
It
will
absolutely
protect
you
on
your
identity.
Thanks.

that

A
Paws

is
a
reading

program
where
therapy
dogs
and
their
handlers
work
with
five
year
olds
and
up
to
help
build
reader
self-esteem
and
improve
their
reading
skills,
starting
on
July,
tenth
paws

come
to
the
San
Bruno
library
on
the
second
Friday
each
month,
between
3pm
and
4pm,
come
read
to
the
perfect
reading
companion,
a
dog
paws
for
tales,
starting
on
Friday
July,
tenth,
the
San
Bruno
library's
summer
reading
program
is
in
full
swing.
We
spoke
with
Isabelle
Ibaka,
the
winner
of
last
year's
summer
meeting
$1,000
college
scholarship.
C
Name
is
Isabel
vaca
I'm
in
sixth
grade
and
I'm
11
years
old.
The
library
summer
reading
program
is
a
fun
program
where
you
go
into
the
library
you
get
a
reading
log
and
you
fill
out
the
reading
log
and
take
it
back
to
the
library
and
you
can
get
prizes.
It
was
a
crazy
experience.
Winning
the
scholarship
program,
I
just
spilled
in
a
lot
of
reading
blogs
with
a
lot
of
reading,
so
I
didn't
think
I
would
win
anything
well,
I,
don't
put
in
all
sorts
of
books.
C
I
read
the
babysitter's
called
divergent
series,
as
you
can
read
spell
Hunger
Games
reading
is
a
lot
of
fun,
especially
when
you
get
sizes
for
it.
So
it's
a
win-win.
In
my
opinion,
the
best
part
about
the
summer
reading
program
is
that,
if
reading
is
a
huge
benefit
to
like
it
benefits
you
with
writing
skills
and
comprehensive
skills,
and
so
they
make
reading
fun.
So
that's
the
best
part,
so
reading
assignments
are
adjusted
to
each
grade
level.
So
it's
quite
easy
for
everyone.
A
A
People
here
in
San
Bruno
love
their
fireworks
and
although
it
is
legal
to
use
safe
and
sane
fireworks
within
our
city
limits,
there
are
specific
rules
which
we
all
need
to
observe.
Fireworks
can
be
used
on
jun,
28
through
july
third,
from
noon
until
10pm
and
on
july,
4th
fireworks
can
be
used
from
noon
until
midnight.
Although
safe
and
sane
fireworks
are
allowed
in
san
bruno
many
injuries
and
fires
can
be
caused
by
the
misuse
of
fireworks.
It
used
to
someone
using
illegal
fireworks
or
using
any
fireworks
after
the
fourth
of
July.

be
to

the

The

should
be

by
early
2016.

you'll
