What's Happening Around Town November 2012
Final Version
City of San Bruno
A
Welcome
to
the
November
edition
of
what's
happening
around
town,
I'm
stephanie
chaves
with
the
holidays
right
around
the
bend.
The
city
of
san
bruno
has
some
great
events
happening
to
help
you
and
your
loved
ones
enjoy
the
season.
Are
you
interested
in
living
to
a
ripe
old
age?
Do
you
think
that
it's
all
genetics,
or
are
there
things
that
you
can
do
to
keep
the
old
heart
ticking?
Dr.
Simon?
You
has
some
advice
to
help
you
control
what
you
can
so
that
you
can
live
longer.
A

Are
your
children
getting

that
age
when
you're,
starting
to
wonder
how
you
will
pay
for
their
college?
Are
you
interested
in
going
back
to
school
yourself,
then,

one
evening
class
entitled
how
to
pay
for
college?
Maybe
for
you

about
the
importance
of
a
college,
education
and
different
strategies
on
how
to
pay
for
it.

Memorial
Recreation
Center
in
city
park.
If
you're
thinking
of
adding
some
wines
your
holiday
menu,
you
may
consider
attending
the
San
Bruno
libraries,
food
and
wine
pairing
program.
Pairing
wine
with
food
is
more
of
an
art
than
a
science.

Learn
the
basics
in
this

class

teach
yourself
what
you
like

boutique

craft
sale
will
be
held
on
saturday
november
24th,
unique
and
handmade.
These
items
make
great
gifts.
A
Taking
up
many
of
the
rooms
at
the
Senior
Center.
The
holiday
boutique
is
a
wonderful
way
to
spend
your
Saturday
over
the
Thanksgiving
weekend
be
sure
to
bring
plenty
of
cash
to
get
the
best
deal.
The
21st
annual
holiday
boutique
from
10
to

on
Saturday

at
the

Thanksgiving,
is
a
day
full
of
yummy,
cooking,
good
company
and
a
lot
of
laughs.
A
But
did
you
know
that
three
times
more
fires
happen
on
Thanksgiving
than
any
other
day
of
the
year,
take
a
minute
to
think
about
your
own
safety
and
the
safety
of
your
loved
ones?
While
you
get
busy
in
the
kitchen
make
sure
that
safety
doesn't
get
lost
in
the
whirlwind,
there
are
many
mouths
to
feed
and
many
dishes
to
prepare
be
sure
to
keep
the
cooking
range
free
of
clutter.
A
A
If
a
grease
fire
does
start
on
the
stove,
don't
pour
water
on
it,
it
could
cause
the
fire
to
spread
turn
the
burner
off
and
cover
the
pan
with
a
lid
leave
the
lid
in
place
until
the
pan
is
cool,
be
sure
to
keep
the
kitchen
clean,
especially
when
cooking
poultry
make
sure
to
wash
all
surfaces
cooking
tools
as
well
as
your
hands
after
handling
raw
food.
It's
also
a
good
idea
to
use
one
cutting
board
for
the
bird
and
use
another
for
other
foodstuffs,
even
though
the
name
implies
differently.
A
The
USDA
recommends
that
you
cook
the
stuffing
in
a
pan,
not
in
the
bird
oftentimes.
The
stuffing
does
not
get
cooked
all
the
way
through
when
cooked
inside
the
turkey
for
more
even
cooking,
use
the
casserole
dish
when
cooking
the
stuffing
and
make
sure
that
the
center
reaches
a
temperature
of
165
degrees,
and
if
your
turkey
is
frozen,
thaw
in
the
refrigerator
in
its
original
wrapping
in
a
tray
to
catch,
the
leaking
juices

Calm
throughout
the
month
of

you
can

A
Your
old

simply
place
your
old
jack-o'-lantern
in
the
green
yard.

remember
to
remove
all
decorations
and

Did
you
know
that
one-third
of
Americans
over
65
fall
each
year
and
that
two-thirds
of
those
who
have
fallen
will
fall
again
falls
at
any
age
can
lead
to
serious
injury,
Ready
Steady
Go?
That
is
the
name
of
the
falls
prevention
program
held
at
the
Senior
Center.
This
class
takes
a
fun
and
informative
approach
in
helping
people
decrease
their
chances
of
falling
while
giving
them
more
stability
and
confidence
in
their
daily
lives

strength,
flexibility,
mobility
and
balance

Steady

Have
you
heard
the
old
phrase?
Knowledge
is
power.
A
big
part
of
staying
healthy
is
knowing
how
high
your
blood
pressure's
come
to
the
Senior
Center
on
Wednesday
november
seventh,
to
have
one
of
the
EMT
students
from
skyline
college
check
your
blood
pressure.
This
free
service
is
only
offered
to
people
50
years
and
older,
make
sure
you
know
your
numbers,
so
you
can
keep
healthy.

will

for

your
thoughts

party

the
annual
holiday

event
takes
place
on
thursday
november

year,

A
Then
wait
your
turn
to
sit
on

to
tell
him
what
you
wish
for
snacks
and
arts
and

will
be
available
for
you
to
enjoy
as
well
be
sure
to
dress
warmly,
as
this
event
will
take
place
outside
the
Veterans
Memorial
Building
in
san
bruno
city
park.
The
annual
holiday
tree
lighting
event
on
thursday
december
six
at
five-thirty
p.m.
A
for
those
of
you
who
have
business
with
the
city
be
aware
that
all
city
offices
accept
fire
and
police
services
are
closed
on
Monday
November,
twelfth
and
observance
of
veterans
day
and
on
Thursday
November
22nd
and
Friday
November
23rd
in
observance
of
Thanksgiving.
Now
that
the
rainy
season
is
upon
us,
the
San,
Bruno
Police
Department
wants
to
be
sure
that
you
take
care
of
while
driving,
leave
ample
space
between
you
and
the
car
ahead
of
you.
Remember
that
it
takes
longer
to
stop
when
it's
wet.
A
A
good
rule
of
thumb
is
to
allow
one
car
length
for
every
10
miles
per
hour
that
you
are
traveling
be
sure
to
drive
with
your
headlights
on
when
it's
raining
and
now
is
a
good
time
to
change
your
windshield
wipers.
Changing
the
amount
once
a
year
is
best.
Thank
you
for
tuning
