October
2012
edition
of
what's
happening
around
town,
I'm
stephanie
chaves
for
the
entire
month
of
october.
I
can't
stop
thinking
about
halloween.
The
Recreation
Division
has
some
great
events
to
help
liven
up
your
days.
As
the
days
grow,
shorter,
goblin
grotto
will
be
held
on
Tuesday
October
thirtieth
at
the
recreation
center
gym.
Children
under
ten
years
of
age
are
invited
to
come
dressed
up
to
go,
trick-or-treating
play
carnival
games
and
listen
to
storytelling
tickets
cost
seven
dollars
per
child.
All
children
must
be
accompanied
by
an
adult.

No
tickets
will
be
sold
at
the
door
or
online.
You
must
pre-register
at
the
recreation
office
in
person
prior
to
the
event
be
sure
to
indicate
which
time
slot
you'd
prefer.
The
first
one
is
from
5
30
to
6,
15
p.m.
and
the
second
is
from
6
45.
Until
seven-thirty
p.m.
goblin
grotto
for
kids,
10
and
under
on
Tuesday
October
thirtieth,
don't
miss
out
the
annual
Halloween
costume
parade
and
contest
will
take
place
on
Wednesday
October
thirty-first
at
the
shops
at
tanforan,
come
dressed
up
in
your
vest,
scariest
and
most
creative
Halloween
costumes.

best
costumes
will
win
mall
gift
cards.
There
will
be
two
parades:
the
parade
for
children,
kindergarten
age,
didn't
you
will
begin
at
three-thirty
p.m.
and
the
parade
for
first
through
fourth
graders
will
begin
at
450
all
participating
children,
ten
years
old
and
under
will
receive
a
bag
of
goodies.
No
registration
is
required
and
it
is
free
to
all
participants.
The
annual
Halloween
costume
parade
and
contest
is
sponsored
by
the
city
of
San
Bruno.

shops
at
tanforan
and
project
pride
see
you
there
for
those
of
you
who,
like
things
a
little
bit
scarier,
come
to
the
annual
haunted
house
on
October,
26th,
27th
and
October
thirtieth,
the
San
Bruno
pool
be
transformed
into
tickets,
can
be
purchased
at
the
recreation
center
for
four
dollars
for
october
twenty
six
and
five
dollars
at
the
door.
The
recommended
age
is
seven
years
old
enough,
but
remember
I'm

to
walk
the
haunted
halls
of
San
Bruno
pool
on
October,

and

October
thirtieth.
It
is
time
for
seventh
and
eighth-grade
hoopsters
to
sign
up
for
the
Parkside
middle
school
basketball
league
sign
up
through
the
San
Bruno
Recreation
Division.
Everyone
who
signs
up
will
be
placed
on
the
team,
look
on
the
school
loop
or
for
flyers
in
the
school's
front
office,
for
more
information
and
if
you're
in
the
sixth
grade,
don't
feel
left
out.

Signups
for
the
sixth
grade,
basketball
will
begin
in
January
stay
tuned
if
it
is
too
cold
to
go
outside
and
play,
but
you
still
want
to
get
some
exercise
come
to
the
drop
in
gym.
We
have
open
basketball
on
mondays
and
wednesdays.
At
the

gymnasium
and
city
park,
kids
aged
16
and
younger
can
come
play
from
6
30
to
7,
30
p.m.
for
only
two
dollars
per
person
and
the
gym
is
open
for
adults,
17
and
older
from

cost
for
adults
is
only

dollars
per

Telling
stories
to
children
has
been
a
part
of
our
culture
for
many
centuries,
and
listening
to
stories
is
a
great
way
for
kids
to
improve
their
vocabulary
and
train
their
brains
for
future
learning.
If
you
have
children
at
home
who
have
yet
to
start
kindergarten,
bring
them
to
story
time
at
the
San
Bruno
library.
This
month
we
are
featuring
baby
story
times
on
wednesdays.
At
eleven-fifteen
am
baby
story.
Time
is
for
newborn
babies
to
12
months
old,
meet
other
parents
and
learn
early
literacy
strategies
to
teach
your
baby
baby
story
time.

Like
all
other
story
times
at
the
library,
is
free.
On
monday
nights
at
seven
pm
we
have
pajama
storytime,
four
kids,
three
years
old
and
up
come
wearing
your
pajamas
and
we'll
tell
you
some
great
bedtime
stories
on
Tuesdays.
We
have
bilingual
storytime
at
eleven-fifteen
in
the
morning.
Stories
are
told
in
a
way
to
a
Spanish
or
both
add
to
your
vocabulary
in
two
languages.

program
is
ideal
for
two-year-olds

for
the
little
tykes
we
offer
itsy
bitsy
storytime
on
thursdays
at
eleven
fifteen
in
the
morning
enjoy
a
special
time,
interacting
with
your
child,
sharing
books,
songs
and
rhymes.
This
is
great
for
kids,
who
are
from
18
months
old,
23
years
old,
and
if
you
can't
get
to
the
library
watch
once
upon
a
time
right
here
on
channel
1,
these
half-hour
shows

in
the
mornings
from
six
until
8am
most
afternoons
at
two
p.m.

if

Wars
Saturday

a
day
for

celebrate.
It
is
Star
Wars
breeds
day
all

the
country.
There
will
be
differing
events,
and
you
can
celebrate

the

Bruno
library,
starting
at
ten
a.m.

paper
airplane
and
take
your
picture
with
a
Star
Wars
character
from
the
movies
plus
there
will
be
star
wars
books
for
you
to
check
out.

and

on
Saturday

Dia
de
los
Muertos
or
the
day
of
the
dead
is
a
Mexican
celebration
to
remember
and
honor
loved
ones.
Part
come
to
the
basement
community
room
for
our
own
dia
de
los
muertos
celebration
on
Monday
October
29th
at
630pm.
The
children's
librarians
will
present
a
bilingual
story.
Time
then
take
part
in
decorating
sugar,
skulls,
icing,
color,
foil
and
glitter.

be
halloween
coloring
pages
available
too,
while
supplies

trick
or
treat
as
the

bruno
library
all
day
on
wednesday

if
you're
ready

Senior
Center

about
healthy
cooking.
This
hands-on
class
starts
at
ten
a.m.
and
will
last
for
two
hours
with
her
expert
guidance,
make
three
healthy,
tasty
and
easy
to
make
dishes
and
then
help
devour
them.

healthy
cooking
class
on
Friday

festival,
the

band
will
begin
to
play
at

everyone

auto

you
have
to
do

attend
the
AARP
driver
safety
class
offered
at
the
Senior
Center.

so
remembering
