B
I'm
the
chair
of
the
planning
commission,
welcome
to
the
planning
commission
meeting
for
may
26
2021,
which
is
a
regular
hearing
and
a
general
plan
hearing
I'd
like
to
take
a
moment
to
acknowledge
that
the
horrific
events
of
this
morning
which
have
rocked
our
community.
B
We
won't
know
for
quite
some
time
what
the
true
impact
will
be
on
survivors
and
families
of
the
victims
of
the
vta
light
rail
yard.
Shooting
our
hearts
are
heavy
and
our
thoughts
are
with
the
families
and
friends
who
lost
someone
in
this
senseless
act
of
violence.
At
this
time,
I'd
like
to
request
that
we
take
a
moment
of
silence
to
acknowledge
and
commemorate
the
members
of
our
community
who
we
lost.
B
B
This
meeting
is
being
held
via
zoom
conference
call
due
to
the
covet
19
crisis.

have
two
methods
to
identify
to
provide
public
comment.

will
remain
on
mute
until
the
individual
identifies
they
would
like
to
speak
and
you
are
unmuted
following
roll
call.
B
B
I'm
sorry,
the
roll
call
czech
available
is
here
vice
chair
bonilla
here,
commissioner
casey
garcia
here,
commissioner.
D
B
B
Or
email
planning
support
staff
at
san
jose
ca,
dot,
gov
and
identify
your
name
phone
number
and
what
items
you
would
like
to
speak
on,
as
your
name
is
called
city
staff
will
unmute
you
to
speak
after
we
confirm
your

two
minutes.
Speakers
using

four
minutes
after
the
public
testimony
the

and

make
closing
remarks
for
an
additional
five
minutes.
B
B
If
you
challenge
these
land
use
decisions
in
court,
you
may
be
limited
to
raising
only
those
issues
you
or
someone
else
raised
in
the
public
at
this
public
hearing
or
in
written
correspondence
delivered
to
the
city
at
or
prior
to
the
public
hearing.
The
planning
commission's
actions
on
rezonings
pre-zonings
general
plan
amendments
and
code
amendments
is
only
advisory
to
the
city
council.
B
B
D
B
C
I
you
know
I
can't
help
but
think
that,
in
light
of
the
events
today
and
considering
that
there
are
still
families
that
are
waiting
to
hear
about
their
loved
ones,
the
fact
that
the
planning
commission
is
supposed
to
be
a
process
that
allows
the
community
to
be
involved
and
I'm
not
sure
how
they
can
be
involved
when
events
such
as
today
are
still
in
progress.
C
I
would
say
that,
if
possible,
if
we
could
defer
the
calendar
completely
to
another
date
out
of
respect
to
the
to
the
loss
of
the
community
in
the
community
of
the
bta
employees,
and
that's
what
I
would
request.
B
Okay,
thank
you,
commissioner,
garcia,
so
is
that
a
motion
to
defer
the
items
from
the
calendar
today
to
the
next
meeting.
C
B
Thank
you,
commissioner.
Garcia.
Commissioner,
I
mean
a
commissioner.
Would
you
like
to
speak
to
the
motion.
E
I
think
out
of
respect
to
the
families
and
given
the
importance
of
our
commission,
think
it
sends
a
message
of
respect
and
it
sends
a
message
tonight
of
recognizing
that
should
be
their
families
tonight.
E
E
E
A
lot
of
us
are
very
unit
personally
and
a
lot
of
the
folks
that
would
be
may
want
to
join.
This
meeting
are
very
in
it
personally
and
tonight
should
really
be
about
the
largest
city
in
the
bay
area,
setting
a
very
clear
example
of
how
we
unify
in
moments
of
tragedy,
and
we
can't
operate
as
business
as
usual
tonight.
B
Thank
you.
So
I
see
we
have
a
commissioner
larvinwa.
You
also
have
your
hand
up.
Would
you
like
to
speak
to
the
motion.
C
Yeah,
so
I
just
want
to
say
I
support
the
motion
I
just
wanted
to
ask:
would
it
be
easier
for
staff
to
defer
these
items
to
our
next
regularly
scheduled
meeting,
or
would
it
be
easier
to
have
a
special
meeting
before
the
next
meeting
to
handle
these
items.
B
F
Thank
you
chair.
I
just
wanted
to
make
a
note
that
the
item
on
the
agenda
item
eight
a
gp
19-0-7.
It's
actually
the
the
wrong
file
number
the
file
number
the
appropriate
file
number
should
be
gp19-014
just
want
to
note
that
for
the
record,
if
this
does
get
deferred,
thank
you.
B
Thank
you
so
much
for
that
clarification.
Ruth
commissioner
casey.
G
This
is
michael
there's
not
on
on
the
two:
the
zoning
code
item
in
the
general
plan
item.
Those
can
just
go
to
the
next
hearing
on
the
consent
items.
Is
there
anyone
a
staff
here
in
consent
that
can
speak
to
this
time?
Sensitivity
of
those.
G
B
Okay,
thank
you
michael.
Do
we
have
any
other
comments
from
any
other
commissioners.
D
D
B
D
B
You
thank
you,
so
we
do
have
a
motion
on
the
floor,
commissioner:
garcia
to
defer
basically
the
consent
calendar
which
is
items
for
a
through
d
and
item
five,
a
public
hearing
and
item
eight,
a
general
plan
hearing
with
the
clarification
from
ruth
related
to
the
general
plan,
amendment
number
to
the
june
9th
meeting
at
this
time.
I'd
like
to
take
a
roll
call
vote
on
that.
So.
D
B
Yes,
so
if
anyone
would
like
to
make
a
public
comment
on
the
deferrals
or
removals
from
the
calendar
item
number
three
on
this
motion,
please
raise
your
hand
at
this
time.
B
Steph,
I'm
not
seeing
any
hands
raised,
so
I
think
we
can
go
ahead
and
take
the
the
vote
acknowledging
that
there
were
no
public
comments
on
this
item,
so
vice
chair
bonilla,
commissioner
casey.
B
Commissioner,
garcia
aye
commissioner
hi
commissioner
olivario
hi,
commissioner
torrence.
B
B
So
these
items
will
be
deferred
until
the
june
9th
meeting.
Again,
our
hearts
are
are
with
the
the
families
and
the
survivors
of
the
shooting
and
just
hold
your
loved
ones
close
and-
and
please
take
care
of
yourselves
and
your
families
tonight,
and
this
meeting
is
a
june
adjourned
until
june
9.
