didn't
know
they

share

information
about
companies
and

in

cloud
native

meetup
group,

kind
of
an
oversaturated
market
for
meetups
a
little
bit.

Dhaka

Prometheus,

blah

I
noticed
that
there
wasn't
a
cloud
native
London,
even
though
there
was
a
cloud
native
Berlin
and
cloud
native
Paris,
and
so
so
I
thought.

The
first
interaction
with
the
community
was
in
the
convenience
project
three
four
years
ago,
when
I
started
doing
the
Raspberry
Pi
things
and
converted
container
store.
Since
then,
I've
been
doing
different
kinds
and
stuff
like
CN,
CF
ambassador,
but
also
building
cube
ATM,
which
no,
when
three
a
that's
nice.
My
first
meetup
in
Finland
was
a
year
ago
in
October,
and
that
was
kind
of
the
same
thing.

wanted
to
get
something
happening
in
the
community
in
this
space
and
I
just
reached
out
CN
CF,
and
they
were
helpful
in
like
responding
answering
all
the
questions
I
had
and
like
how
to
practically
do
it,
and
now
we've
run
I,
think
six
or
seven
meetups
in
total
in
Finland.
So
that's
really
cool.

My
first
interactions
with
kubernetes
and
coming
into
the
space
was
probably
the
first
coop
coop
cosmic
and
I
work
on
open
shift,
so
open
shipped
is
kubernetes
distribution,
so
we've
been
playing
with
it
in
the
very
early
days
and
we
did
lots
of
meetups
that
were
just
open
shift
meetups
but
as
CN
CF
grew
and
there
were
so
many
other
projects,
it
made
sense
to
do
CN,
CF
meetups,
so
that
we
could
bring
them
Prometheus.
People
in
and
others
we've
been
hosting
them
for
about
two
years
in
a
very
busy
space
to
Vancouver.

running
meetups
for

year

more,
what
advice
would
you
give
now
to
the
new
meetup
organizers
for
someone
who
is
just
starting
or
who
is
going
to
have
his
or
hers
first
meetup,
let's
say
after
December
next
year,
January
February?
What
advice
would
you
give?
What
would
you
do
different
yourself?
Maybe
if
you
were
starting
just
now,
how
would
you
things
different
or
what
would
you
say
what
they
don't

Obviously,
I
didn't
actually
have
to
work
too
hard,
because
London
has
a
lot
of
speakers
and
people
who
are
interested
in
this
space.
Already
I
did
have
to
go
out
and
find
the
speakers
from
friends
and
friends
of
friends
like
through
networks
but
honestly,
like
one
of
the
I
now
work
for
the
CN,
CF
full-time
and
the
directive
ecosystem,
and
one
of
the
things
that
we'd
like
to
do
is
spread
cloud
native
and
kubernetes
to
even
more
locations
rather
than
just
the
big
cities.

absolutely
and
on
the
other
hand,
like
he'll,
think
it
has
a
lot
of
tech
like
in
general,
but
not
not
this
much
in
in
the
CN
CF
space
particular.
So
for
me,
finding
speakers
was
pretty
hard,
at
least
in
the
beginning.
Now
it
gets
better
and
better
with
every
meet
up
as
we
go,
but
and
now
it's
also
good
to
do
a
shout
out
for
the
CN
CF
speaker
pro
that
I
launched
this
year.

The

what
do
you
do
when
you're
living
in
a
place?
Then
you
want
to
host
Meetup
and
I'm
living
five,
six
hundred
kilometers
from
where
I
host
meetup,
because
I
don't
live
in
a
capital
instead
in
the
middle
field,
so
the
capital
is
the
only
area
that
has
had
enough
interest
so
far,
so
what
I
did
was
to
go?

They
don't
work
at
that
company
anymore,
but
I
got
two
persons
that
were
interested
in
helping
and
since
since,
like
now
for
one
half
year,
we've
been
collaborating
all
the
lives
which
companies
multiple
times
and
stuff
and
they've
helped
me,
for
example,
one
of
them
is,
has
a
history
with
Microsoft,
so
she
had
a
great
network
of
different
different
people
in
the
area,
so
she's
been
helping
a
lot
with.

oh
I,
know
this
person
and
I
can
ask
them
to
so
like
offer.

mentioned
the
floatplane
to
Victoria
it's
not
as
far
as
going
from
Paris
to
to
Africa,
but
I
went
and
I
started
up
the
meet
up
without
any
their
there,
without
a
room
or
anything
and
the
BC
government,
which
is
in
Victoria,
that's
the
seat
of
the
government
or
a
british
columbia.

partnered
with
them
to
be
organizers,
so
I
found
somebody
else
who
really
ended
up
owning
the
the
Meetup
and
I
just
sort
of
lent.

my
network
of
people
to
them
to
help
bring
people
in
to
speak
and
now
I,
don't
even
go
each
time.
I
don't
have
to
go
each
time.
I
just
had
to
go
for
like
the
first
three
or
four
of
them,

then
after
that,
the
folks,
local,
we're
running
them
and
in
every
once
in
a
blue
moon.
When

schedule
lets
me
I
go
to,
but
really
what
you're
doing
is
trying
to
organize
something
remotely.

about
when
you
have
your
meetups,
what
time
do
you
schedule
them,
because
ours
are
pretty
consistent
and
then
we
consistently
get
the
same
kind
of
crowd?
So
I
was
curious
if
you
explored
alternate
times
to
get
different
folks
in
and
kind
of
related,
we
don't
attract
a
very
diverse
crowd.
I
mean
it's
mostly
males
and
all
about
the
same
age.
So
I
was
just
curious.
If
any
of
you
had
experience
with,
how
do
you
expand
your
reach
to
get
more
people
in
your
meetups.

Recruit
you
recruit
speakers
from
diverse
background.
If
people
don't
see
themselves
in
the
room,
they
don't
come.
That's
you
know
the
oldest
credo,
I,
think
in
diversity
and
engagement
with
diverse
communities.
Put
this
put
them
on
the
stand.
Look
through
your
rolodex,
find
people
from
diverse
backgrounds,
put
them
on
the
stage
actively
recruit
them
to
come
and
be
in
their
it.

a

work
and
we
see
it's
really
actually
pretty
good
here
at
the
CN
CF
that
koukin
this
time.
The
stage
this
morning
was
pretty
awesome
but
really
put
them
on
the
stage.

done

that
as
well,
so
as
I
go
to
other
meetups
and
I
see
other
speakers.
If
I
think
that
there's
somebody
who
that
content
is
interesting
for
the
audience
of
the
meetup
I
run
and
they
have
a
diverse
background,
then
I
usually
got
to
them
after
the
talk
and
say
why
don't
you
come
to
our
native
London
and
give
the
same
talk
and
representation
really
does
make
a
big
difference.

I
guess
my
question
is
around
the
sustainability
of
the
growth
where
its
twofold,
actually
one
is
around
in
certain
cities
were
actually
unable
to
find
places
that
are
big
enough
to
host
the
number
of
people
that
were
having
so
we're
getting
about
230
RSVPs
we're
getting
150
people
of
those
people
coming
so
we're
kind
of
running
out
of
space.
So
have
you
guys
had
that
problem
and
the
other
question
I
guess
in
regards
that
is
also.
I
How
do
you
have
any
recommendations
on
how
to
manage
content,
because
we
don't
want
to
talk
about
the
same
things
multiple
times
and
then
there's
different
levels
and
there's
always
new
people
coming.
So
how
do
you
manage
the
people
who
are
in
there
who
really
want
to
go
deeper
versus
the
newbies
who
who
are
just
coming
into
the
ecosystem?
Those
are
some
challenges
that
we're
facing.

stood
a
latter
question
about
the
levels
I
genuinely
don't
worry
about.
It
I
think
it's
fine
to
have
a
mix
of
levels
in
each
Meetup
and
then,
as
people
come,
they
will
find
at
least
one
thing
that's
interesting
to
them.
So
I
have
thought
about
like
should
I
target
it
at
a
particular
audience
or
particular
level,
but
so
far
it's
just
been.
You
know
I've
invited
speakers
and
they
come
and
speak
of
whatever
that,
whatever
level
they
find
interesting
and
I
figure.
As
long
as
the
audience
keeps
showing
up,
it
means
they're.
Finding
interesting.

So
what
I
tend
to
do
this
try
answer
both
parts
of
your
question.
One
in
Vancouver
space
is
very
expensive
and
very
few
of
the
startups
and
even
Microsoft
downtown
Red
Hat
doesn't
have
an
office
there,
so
we
work
with
Microsoft
and
they
have
a
room
that
will
seat
maybe
comfortably
60
to
70
people.
So
we
that
is
our
limit.
So
it's
an
issue
I
and
we
haven't
solved
it
yet
and
we
do
fill
the
room
every
single
time
because
we
serve
pizza.

That's
the
other
tip
serve
pizza,
they'll
come
it's
interesting,
but
what
I,
try
and
do
is
have
two
talks
at
every
meet
up
and
at
least
one
of
them
at
a
level.
That's
not
beginners,
but
at
least
high
enough
level
that
anybody
can
get.
You
know
that
and
I
always
open
the
session
with
a
conversation
about
what
is
cloud
native.

So
as
the
emcee
of
the
night
I
try
and
do
that
so
at
least
there
they
may
get
lost
in
you
know
a
deep
dive
on
prometheus
or
something
like
that
or
you
know
what
is
an
operator,
but
at
least
they
know,
there's
something.
Somebody
framing
the
conversation
for
the
day
and
they
know
that
there's
other
people
in
the
room
they
can
talk
to,
but
yeah
I
try
and
do
two
talks
because
that
one
it
gets
me
more
speakers.

haven't
announced
the
key
we
haven't
had
the
problem
of
finding
a
large
enough
space,
because
we've
had
preconscious
consistently
with
50
to
80
people.
So
that's
worked
out,
but
with
regards
to
speakers,
we've
had
three
talks
about
each
time
and
half
an
hour,
try
to
mix
content,
but
obviously
it's
hard.
If
you
get
three,
if
you
a
lot
of
work,
get
three
submissions,
it's
like
you
do
anything
more,
but
if
it's
been
mostly
like
more
advanced
talks
in
some
cases,
I've
always
tried
to
balance
it.

don't
know
if
you're
using
meetup
calm,
but
you
can
use
the
we
workspaces
through
them
if
there
are
any
in
your
town
yeah,
if
they're
in
your
town,
yeah

just
gonna,
throw
that

thing
as
far

timing
goes
I've
seen
people
do
before
work
or
do
like
online
meetups
tearing
lunch.

groups

in
other
cities,
kind

get
together

like
Portland
Seattle,
there
was
an
agile
Meetup
and
they
do
like
a
lunch
online
lunch
PITA,
so
that
was
kind
of
interesting
and
I've,

where
people
just
do
like
for
content
a
bunch
of
lightning
talks.
So
they
have
people
sign
up
ahead
of
time
and
then
they
come
and
do
do
that
or
discussion
groups
like
if
you
can't
get
a
speaker,
I'm
hosting
something
like
that.

don't
know
if
those
are
any
ideas
you've
tossed
around.

find

speakers

meetup,

you

meet
up

talk

to
find
a
speaker
for
your
meetups?

would
you
suggest?

you

for
beginners?

use
your
networks,
your
personal
networks
and
people
around
you
at
work
and
ask
them
if
they
know
people
personally,
who
will
be
willing
to
come
and
speak.

think
I've
reached
out
to
a
couple
people
on
Twitter
as
well
and
said:
ok,
I'm,
starting
this
meetup
group,
and
would
you
like
to
like
to
help
us
get
it
off
the
ground?

example,
if
you
tweet
about
it
there's
a
fairly
good
chance,
you
can
get
serious.
You
have
to
retweet
as
well.
If
you
go
to
the
slack
channel
and
ask
if
they
can
help
do
so,
we've
had
also
like
Google
Docs
forms
like
CFPA
forms
online,
so
people
can
submit
any
time
and
try
to
at
different
times
like
try
to
advertise
that
link.

example,
also,
we've
had
like
so
the
latest
meetups
have
been
at
a
sponsor
whatever,
like
we
rotate
every
time,
so
that's
actually
worked
real
well
and
that
sponsor
can
provide
one
speaker
of
three
during
the
evening.

then
we
all
always
kind
of
have
one
and
the
first
two
meetups
I
I
myself
and
another
co-organizer
actually
had.

just
found
one
external
speaker
through
our
networks,
so
we
had
that
one
and
as
two
they
were
presenting
the
first
two
times
on
a
high
level
and
like
this
is
why
we're
here
and
inside
things,
some
use
cases
that
might
be
useful
so

we
got
started
now.

have
three

every
time,

people

customer

theirs
in
my
vicinity.

ask
them
if
they're
willing

come

speak,

sometimes
I'll
just
schedule
and
meet
up
around
them.

works
really
well
for

because
that
people
usually
put

what

though

don't
always

fatigue

real

when

month

couple

months,

volunteer
thing

day
job.

can
get
very
tiring
to
be
chasing
people
all
the
time,
and
you
know
speakers
that
drop
out
at
the
last
minute
and
dealing
with
finding
venues
and
all
of
this
stuff.
So
it
really
really
is
work.

sponsoring

like
covering
pizza
cost
and
similar.

it's
also
really
good

general,

sponsors

can,

example,
buy
the
pizza
fall,
so
I've
been
lucky
enough
to
often
be
able
to
to
get
the
food
and
drinks
automatically
from
the
venue
because
because
if
you
ask
for
it
it's
freely
in
many
cases
they
will
say:
okay,
fine
or
whatever
event
manager
is
gonna
gonna
order
and
fix
that.

for
you,
instead
of
having
to
in
the
first
minute
we
did
our
all
ourselves,
so
we
were
like
chasing
pizza
and
it
didn't
come
and
then
like
really
really
stressful.

also
with
regards
to
that
speakers,
don't
show
up.

learned
was
to
always
have
this
one
presentation
in
extra
yeah
just
in
case,
because
because
it's.

a
real
common
thing:
people
are
have
never
given
the
talk
before.
Never,
you
know
stood
in
front
of
an
audience
before
and
just
terrified
of
it
and
what
I
always
offer
coz
is
for
them
to
do
it
virtually
all
right.
Cuz
I
have

lot
of
I
do
podcast
and
that
so
I
try
and
get
them
to
do
a
practice
run
with
me
through
blue
jeans
or
zoom
or
whatever
you're
doing,
and
make
that
offer.

there's
this

time
permitting
too,
but
I
think
that's
one
way
is
to
get
people
do
things
virtually
first
and
then
ask
them
to
do
it
on
stage
and
or
ask
them
to
give
a
talk.
That's
really
interval

lot

people,
especially
women,
think
they
have
to
give
pitch
perfect
talks
like
their
talk,
has
to
not
have
a
flaw
in
it,
so
that
nobody
can
pick
at
it
and
I
know.
I
feel
like
that.

myself

I'm,
giving
a
tech
talk
and
overcoming
that
by
doing
something,
that's
maybe
an
intro
to
Kubb
or
you
know
how
to
you
know,
do
mini
cube
or
something
they're
just
so
they
get

confidence
of
speaking
in
front
of
an
audience.

swear
once
you
give
people
the
microphone,
they
never
put
it
down.
That
sort.

I,
think
it's
open
so,
and
there
are
plenty
of
resources
online.
The
main
thing
is:
if
someone
is
really
nervous
about
it,
you
should
talk
to
them
personally
and
kind
of
reassure
them
that
it's
not
about
you,
don't
have
to
know
more
than
every
single
person
in
the
entire
audience.
You
just
have
to
know
about
what
you're
talking
about,
and
people
are
always
interested
in
stories
and
experiences.
You
don't
necessarily
have
to
do
a
deep
dive
on
some
technical
topic.

with
regards
to
finding
speakers
actually
I
participated
or
helped
kick
off
a
meet-up
in
northern
Sweden,
but
I
was
in
military
service,
so
I
did
it
like
remote
and
it
worked
actually
pretty
well.
So
if
you
find
speakers
that
are
in
another
location,
you
might
even
as
well
get
them
to
okay,
I'll
I'll
log
in
to
zoom
at
that
point
at
that
time
and
deliver
it.
