economic

place

in
our

capitalized,

insurance

premium
product

protect
lives

feel

hazards

flood

legacies

council

plan
both

organization

be
fair

impressed
with
the
contributions
made
by
the
junior
councilor

Council
Representatives.
We
had
on
the
day
and
at
a
subsequent
Gathering
of
councilors
and
members
of
the
next
generation
of
gold
coasters
at
the
broadbeach
cultural
center.

there
was
a
sense
that
this
Council
has
its
eye
in
the
future,
and
we
recognize
that
it's
actually
young
Gold
Coasters
that
have
the
greatest
stake
in
the
decisions
that
are
made
in
this
chamber.

think
it
was

very
powerful
moment
endorsing
the
planning
committee
will
be
a
powerful
moment
today.
Should
Council
see
fit
to
endorse
that
recommendation,
but
it
didn't
happen
by
accident.
It
happened
through
genuine
stakeholder
consultation
and
an
attitude
and
disposition
from
city
offices
to
make
sure
that
we
get
it
right.

Reclamation

proposed
Reclamation

outcome

of
this

the
delivery

a
boardwalk,

when
accidents

area
does
not
by
any
means
serve

numbers
show
about
half
a
million
people
using
just
that
terrible
section
of
footpath
that
doesn't
take
into
consideration
the
number
of
the
many
thousands
of
people
that
utilize
the
swimming
Lagoon
at
the
Northern
end,
the
many
thousands
of
people
that
utilize
Charis
Seafoods
the
many
people
that
use
the
restaurants
that
are
in
that
space
than
many
people
that
use
landfox
park
at
the
southern
end.

Those
numbers
that
half
a
million
people
a
year
is
simply
just
the
people
that
use
that
meter
and
a
half
wide
section
of
footpath
that
has
Telegraph
poles
bins
electrical
boxes
all
through
it
is
that
the
area
is
going
to
go
in
population.
It's
it's
already,
not
meeting
service
standards,
we're
going
through
this
city
plan
amendment
process,
that's
called
Labrador
and
the
two
adjacent
suburbs,
big
rewarders
in
Southport,
targeted
growth
areas.
We
are
targeting
these
areas
for
growth.
We
know
there's
going
to
be
more
population
in
that
area.

The
demand
is
only
going
to
increase.
We
can't
just
continue
to
do
nothing.
This
money
is
to
combine
all
the
thoughts
and
ideas
we
need
to
see
in
this
space
again
to
bring
in
efficiencies.
We
want
to
have
a
plan
so
that
we
know
what
we're
doing.
We
can't
just
keep
piecemeal,
adding
a
little
peer
here
and
another
park
bench
there.

do
need
a
vision
for
this
space
moving
forward
so
that
we
actually
can
address
all
the
shortfalls
it
currently
has
and
hopefully
have
some
transformational
outcome
where
it
will
actually
serve
many
decades
into
the
future.

this
part
way

served

some
time

doesn't
serve
the
need
anymore.

area
feels
neglected
when
we've
gone
through
consultation.

support
for
the
project
when
we
first
launched
is
saying
we
want
to
hear

see

feedback
was
just
something
needs
to

done.

when
we
progressed
through
committee,
support
local
area
funds
directorate
funds
to
commence
the

concept
planning,
the
support
was
so
clear
for,

need
this
wider
footpath.

we
need
more
park
space.

this
additional
community
and
lifestyle
infrastructure,
so

obviously
completely

support
of
this

love

just
start
delivering
the
outcomes.
People
want

see
straight
away,
but
we

aren't

why
this
motion
today
is
looking
to
get
some
additional
funds
to
investigate
the
the
options
available
so
that,
hopefully
we
can
progress
with
delivering
for
residents
that
live
in
Labrador,
bigger,
Waters
Southport
and
the
many
many
thousands
of
visitors
that
come
from
elsewhere
in
the
city.
To
use
this
beautiful
part
of
the
Broadwater.

on
the
question
there,
there
are
Community
projects
that
has
been
born
throughout
the
city
and,
for
my
recollection,
a
lot
of
them
were
utilized
to
do
the
investigation
or
the
the
vision
part
of
it
was
law
area
works.
So
my
question

you
is
that
why
isn't
there
perhaps
an
aw
content
in
there?
Why
is
it
a
whole?
The
city,

was
partially
funded
through
local
area
works.

think
there
was
about
50
000
from
local
area
works.

same
amount
from
the
transport
infrastructure
directorate,
because

active
transport
and
pedestrian
options
us

needing

additional
embellishment
and
there
was
a
contribution
from
the
lifeline
Community
directorate
as
well
to
address
the
the
shortfall
in
public
open
space.

various
options

minimal

to

options
and
one
of
those
Rays
was
Reclamation
at
no
point
in
any
of
these
meetings,
has
there
been
a
definitive?
No,
this
isn't
possible.

They've
kind
of
said

us

the
work
and
show
us.
This
is
looking
to
do
the
work
and
as
motion
says,
this
isn't
just
about
Reclamation
I
think
the
reports
is
up
to
1.6
hectare.
I
think
it
is
that's

you
went
20
meters
by
800
meters,
which
is
half
of
the
entire
Labrador
foreshore
that
I
don't
think,
there's
any
intent
to
reclaim
anything
to
that
effect.
That's
not
been
raised
by
any
of
the
city
offices
in
any

the
Consultants.

get
engaged
with

that

purely
just
the
mathematical
number
there
there's
no
intent
for
that.
What's
desired.
Mr
Mayor
is
an
oceanway
standard,
footpath
along
the
labrador
foreshore,
as
is
provided
at
pretty
much
every
other
Coastal
section
of
the
Gold
Coast
Paradise
Point,
bigger
Waters,
Southport
I
think
from
the
spit
down
to
burley's,
got
it
so
seeking
the
same
level
of
service
at
this
Coastal
section
of
footpath
and
to
address
the
the
public
open
space
shortfall
that
we've
got.

The
report
says
there's
about
23
hectares
shortfall
or
deficit
of
public
open
space
in
this
immediate
vicinity.
Now
targeted
growth
areas
we're
not
going
to
be
able
to
acquire
23
hectares
of
public
open
space
in
that
area.
It's
just
not
going
to
be
possible
unless
we're
going
to
spend.
However
many
hundreds
of
millions
to
do
that,
I'm
sure
we
don't
want
to
do
that.
So
what
we're
trying
to
do
is
come
up
with
a
master
plan
for
that
space,
where
we
have
a
strategic
Vision.

going

job
of

the
feasibility
and
the
merits
of
progressing

fairy
light
project
and

restructured

is
making
sure
that
that
expression
of
Interest

covered

appropriately

small
group

operators
in
this
sort
of
space

order

build
our
capacity
as
a
tourism
City
we're
already
serious
about
it.
We're
spending
multi-million
dollars
on
attracting
people
for
lots
of
different
types
of
events.

is

activity,

necessarily

traveler
we're
already
always
looking
for

there
and
spend

on

with

like

live
music
and

missing
in

phenomenal
process
that
I

worthy
candidates,
and
the
package
of
information
excuse

us

we're

think
it's
quite
good,

one
added
process
I
think
would
be
really
good
in
future
years
is
when
this

process
gets

point

helpful

engage
with

local
counselor
in
the
area

person
resides
just
so
there's
any
local
knowledge
about
that.

definitely
some
applications

of
the

presented

been

that
in

application
process,
you're
trying
to
present
yourself

the
most
favorable

pieces

feedback
can
help
that

most

occasion,

think
it
would
make
some
sense
for
us
to
get
to
that
finalist
stage
and
just
consult

counselor

just

a
strategic
acquisition
for
the
city
and

Think
I
can
say
that
it's
in
regards
to
an
office
building
and
Mr
Mayor
in
2012,
when
you

I
and
some
others
joined
Council.
There
were
I,
think
two
cranes
in
the
sky
from
memory
and
the
the
office
vacancy
was
around
20
for
Office
Buildings.

Since
then,
there's
been
a
fair
amount
of
water
under
the
bridge,
and
there
are
now
more
than
two
cranes
in
the
sky
and
the
office
vacancy
in
the
city
sits
at
some
four
percent.

think
the
city
has
an
opportunity
here
to
make
a
Strategic
investment.
We
have
it's
public
knowledge
that
we
have
over
a
billion
dollars
worth
of
cash,
that
returns
as
funds
through
a
through
a
fairly
narrow
investment
range.

the
idea
of
the
city
broadening
that
and
getting
a
a
higher
return
than
we
can
get
for
cash
is
actually
a
sensible
move
on
our
part
as
custodians
of
that
cash.

vocations
