Hi y'all, I'm bringing you the interviews for the board candidates. If you have any questions for the candidates, please tweet them to the official.net foundation. Twitter handle hi there. Can you please introduce yourself.

uh Hi, uh my name is dixon. uh I have been a donate enthusiast for over a decade, so I worked for microsoft as a software development engineer for about six years, and then I have been a donate mvp for five times, so um I contributed to donate from both inside microsoft and outside microsoft, including uh donald source contribution and also other open source tools.

B

So um my, uh for example, my nuget packages has about uh two million downloads and for over a decade I have spent a lot of time to promote donate. uh For example, I have been written hundreds of articles, I'm also writing a book which uh should be hopefully published later this year.

B

So uh currently, I live in seattle, washington, uh united states just uh right next to the microsoft main campus, so I also work with many local non-profit organizations like seattle, civil from where I got the experience of running a non-profit organizations and also running large events.

B

I also worked for a number of disability organizations in washington state and the united states, including uh special olympics and many others, where I built my uh solid experience of diversity and inclusion so um as a donated developer and mvp. uh So I'm totally aligned with donate foundation.

B

uh I hope I can have the opportunity to uh use my time and leverage my uh experience to donate foundation. Thank you.

So, let's jump in what excites you about the future of the.net ecosystem.

B

uh So there are a lot of excitements with donate, so we are open source uh we're across platform.

B

um We can be used to uh build almost everything and um the upcoming uh unification of donald 6 uh is uh uh especially exciting, so we will finally have one donut uh with one single sdk uh one bcl and unified torching etcetera, I'm also very excited by the community involvement and growth.

B

So um in the upcoming uh donated six, there are tons of apis driven by donate developer community um and also uh donate has been the number one most allowed of uh framework and stock overflow a stack overflow uh earlier uh in the uh build conference 2021 microsoft has announced, uh there are more than five million, mostly active developers in visual studio family, which is a huge number. So those are very exciting.

What role do you think the foundation excuse me can play to inspire more confidence, in.net.

So recently I have talked with a group of developers, so it turned out when they think about donate. They first think about microsoft, which is behind donuts, uh that's the uh donut foundation. So I think we definitely had the potential to play a bigger role, much bigger here, um so um um we um we already have. uh I have a lot of good information about donate, so we are open source we're across platform.

uh We have a high performance. uh We were now a universal platform. uh uh We also have the excellent virtual skill tools and you know donald can be used to build uh almost everything from a native ui to web to ai. So um all these uh should uh naturally uh inspire the confidence.

B

um So um I I I don't foundation, um we can play a bigger role to reach out different developers and deliver those good information to them. um So um so uh another example is earlier this year uh in the build conference, microsoft has announced that uh uh forty percent of the downloads of the uh donated sdk they're from uh students.

This is a very good news. I think I I would be extremely happy if there are like a 40 percent done. Those are from uh developers of other platforms, so um uh so recently I talked uh with a number of uh nodejs developers.

B

I told them um the uh sql net core performance could be um as fast as 10 times of the performance of uh node.js. um They have never, apparently you've, never heard of all this before at the beginning. They do not believe it and uh apparently there's no confidence right so, um um after a bunch of uh demonstration to them so uh eventually they um they they realize. uh This is true, and they become very excited about this, and um so um uh I I think uh to inspire this kind of confidence.

We need to spend more time and resource to uh racially different people, uh not not only like a new developers like students, but also the uh developers from other platforms.

How can the.net foundation help open source projects be more successful and gain credibility.

B

uh So at donate foundation we have a lot of resources. We have connections with the developers.

B

With projects and companies, we can use those resources and connections to help the projects.

B

So one example I can think about is currently the microsoft uh donut dev blog is powered by wordpress, which is the seamless built with php.

B

um uh Actually now we have, our own uh donation is like a uh orchard, um so um we can use our clinician, for example, I I would uh uh like bring up uh or donate seamless to microsoft, um uh so um for for them uh to evaluate so. uh um uh If this uh I uh donate, assistance could be used by them, uh which is great, and uh if this is not up to their standards, uh we we should identify. What's the gap, uh how we can improve.

So I think that's the way we can help our oss projects.

What can the dotnet foundation do around education and adoption of.net.

B

uh So uh for donate. uh Currently, if I would like to look for some education material, I probably will go to uh microsoft. They have uh religious blog posts, they have the dogs, uh they have videos, they have almost everything. um So um this is great, and this also means we have. um uh This also means uh there are a lot of things we can do here at donate foundation.

um You will have enough resource uh at donut foundation.

B

I hope we can build uh and provide good tuning courses uh eventually. I hope uh we can be just like a negix foundation. um We uh not not only providing uh uh tuning courses covering different levels.

We could also provide certification.

What are some things you would do right away if you join the.net foundation board.

B

So uh there is actually a lot of things I want to do uh uh if I join donate foundation board. So, for example, I have a dream that uh split can be as popular as php, and I also have a dream that we can have some uh open source, seamless ecosystem, that that can compete with wordpress.

B

So um um there are actually uh two parts for this uh uh question. What one part is what I uh want to do I so um what I would like to do is to uh I would like to uh use more resource uh to uh promote his planet and our similes, because uh uh in the past decade I tried to um promote donations. I tried to promote, uh for example, like a uh xamarin and other technologies, um uh which is relatively easier, but it's I I feel it's more difficult to promote uh sp on it.

So yeah, that's what I would like to do. um The other aspect for the question is um because we all um uh we will always have um um limited resources. So, for example, um if I join a donut foundation, I probably will be as assign a tool like one single aspect like a marketing or education, so uh depends on my.

Depends on my assignment and our resource, I would like to.
