From YouTube: Device Pilots Meeting | June 19th 2019
Description
Monthly meetings that are open for new e-NABLE community members who have limb differences and have interest in piloting a device. Visit our community space for those who pilot open source prosthetic devices here:
https://hub.e-nable.org/s/panel-of-pilots/
We explore how different devices work to perform daily needs, improvements to designs, inspiration, and ways members are contributing their insights to community efforts.
C
B
And
this
is
the
first
elbow
actuated
device
that
you've
used
right.
A
D
B
C
Nice,
it
needs
some
still
working,
but
it's
pretty
good.
It
just
needs
to
it's
sort
of
plasticky.
So,
like
you
can't
grab
like
heavy
stuff,
it
has
to
be
light
stuff
like
stay
around
doing
around
the
house
or
stuff
like
that,
but
to
grab
anything
like
tool
wise
or
like
a
cup
with
water.
It
might
hold
it,
but
it's
going
to
fall.
C
Like
some
rubber
thing
yeah
and
they
come
off.
D
A
C
C
C
B
And
it
has
some
some
noise
when
you
write
yeah.
B
A
C
A
A
D
What,
if
you
would
put
something
like
coconut
oil
in
the
joints
that
are
squeaking.
D
C
A
A
D
B
And
again,
as
as
the
first
elbow
actuated
device
that
you've
tried,
you
know
might
give
you
a
bunch
of
ideas.
You
know,
there's
there's
all
these
different
ways
to
to
design
a
device,
but
this
is
kind
of
the
most
popular
arm
device,
but
there's
other
ones
too.
So
it
could
be
worth
exploring.
I
mean
maybe
trying
one
of
the
other
ones
I
know
in
in
paraguay,
they've
developed
a
whole
bunch
of
devices.
C
A
B
And
judy
you've
got
a
project
going
on
now.
Tell
us
about
that
because
that's
been
something
there's
there's
a
few
folks
involved
and.
D
A
D
Connie
is
very
interested
in
making
sure
that
the
fitting
is
proper
and
they
sent
me
one.
I
think
it
was
the
first
kinetic
that
they
had
printed
out
and
they
sent
it
to
me
and
I
put
those
same
little
fingers
that
you
have
on
yours.
A
D
Esteban
I
tried
them
on
that
because
the
the
plastic
they
printed
really
wasn't
good
for
much.
So
this
was
way
too
small,
but
it
gave
me
the
idea
of
how
they
operate.
So
she
she
ended
up
making
I'm
going
to
move
my
computer,
so
you
can
see.
A
D
Okay,
so
all
right,
so
she
made
everything
from
this.
Is
the
original?
It's
the
smallest,
a
77.5
with
a
really
these
are
samples.
So
it's
not
the
full
amount
of
filament
that
you
use
just
lightweight
but
enough
to
hold
the
form.
D
She
did
80
82
and
a
half
percent
and
then
a
one
that
has
85
percent
of
the
x
85
percent
of
the
y
and
90
percent
of
the
z,
and
these
two
that
I
put
green
tape
on
to
provide
a
pocket
seem
to
fit
the
best,
but
the
gauntlet
or
wrist
band
is
still
too
small
in
here
and
I'm
thinking
you
know
you
wear
long
sleeve
shirts
in
the
winter.
How
is
that
going
to
be,
but
she
she
was
trying
to
get
fit
in
the
cavity
because,
of
course,
the
fingers.
D
D
Of
them
they're
very
caring
people,
that's
great,
who
want
to
make
it
work
for
me.
B
And
it's
interesting
how
many
iterations
you
know
trying
just
to
get
the
sizing
right,
one
of
the
things
from
talking
to
different
chapters,
one
of
the
things
I'm
finding
is
that
process
that
that
that
dialogue,
the
collaboration
with
between
somebody
doing
the
printing
and
the
customization
with
the
person
that's
going
to
be
wearing
this
thing
and
using
it
is
super
important
and
sometimes
people
skip
over
that
and
they
say:
okay,
here's
the
device,
the
ability
for
you
know
guiding
the
process.
B
You
know
like
right
now:
esteban
is
in
the
driver's
seat
with
with
his
device,
and
you
know
that's
that's
the
beginning.
That's
not
the
end
of
the
whole
thing
so.
C
C
D
A
B
Your
yeah,
the
first
one
that
that
had
the
fingers
the
kinetic
now.
The
difference,
though,
is
that
the
kinetic
that
judy
has
is
wrist
activated
right
right,
but
we
did
talk
about.
Maybe
there
is
a
kinetic
version
that
has
that's
elbow
activated.
I
mean
the
same
kind
of
design,
but
I
see
what
you're
saying
so
that
having
it
sort
of
be
a
fluid
streamlined.
A
A
D
B
Right
it's
hot
today,
but
you
know
even
this
past
week
I
don't
know
about
you
esteban,
but
the
temperature's
been
all
over
the
place.
It'll
be
cool
at
night
and
hot
during
the
day
and
yeah.
B
But
it
sounds
like
also
it's:
it's
there's
the
temperature,
but
there's
also
just
having
it
kind
of
blend
in
to
the
device
right
like
in
your
old
prosthetic.
It
went
right
over
it.
This
one
your
arm
is,
is
out
and
then
there's
the
end
of
your
arm,
and
then
the
prosthetic
continues.
You're
saying
to
have
something
sort
of
covering
it
over
would
be.
D
C
D
B
Know
that's
now
the
thing
that
you're
pointing
to
judy
that
piece
that
palm
piece
is
is
a
thermal
formed
piece
of
plastic,
that's
basically
kind
of
added
on
cupped
on
esteban.
If
you
hold
up
the
part,
if
you
hold
up
yeah,
so
I
don't
think
it
would
be
that
hard
to
to
make
a
thermoformed
piece
of
plastic
that
went
around.
B
Yep,
you
could
definitely
do
that.
So
you'd
wanted
to
basically
sort
of
complete
the
forearm
right
right.
D
A
D
A
A
A
D
B
I'm
trying
to
think
what
material
would
be
best
because
there's
thin,
I
guess
it
would
probably
be
pet
g
that
you
could
thermo
form
you
could
sort
of
have
a
piece
that
would
be
attached
like
a
solid
thing,
but
there's
also
maybe
more
flexible,
breathable
materials
that
you
could
like
in
like
a
not
a
netting,
but
something
like
a
mesh
that
might
be
more
comfortable.
That
would
even
keep
it
warm,
potentially.
A
B
Felt
some
kind
of
material
and
and
the
color
you
know
if
you
match
the
color,
it
would
just
sort
of
blend
in
for
for
this
design,
but
the
tricky
part
would
be
you
know
having
it
and
the
color
this.
The
forearm
is
all
black
right,
yeah.
D
This
is
heavy
felt
that
was
made
by
an
artist.
They
just
felted
it
together,
but
a
little
bit
thinner,
but
I
would
expect
that
you
could
get
in
dust.
Industrial
felt
this
is
maybe
3
8
of
an
inch
thick,
but
it's
very
soft.
It's
breathable!
It's
wool,
so
you
know
if
you
wash
it
and
have
to
be
with
she
took
it
off
and
washed
it
it'd
have
to
be
with
cold
water,
and
then
you
just
let
it
air
dry.
D
D
D
Thin
and
that's
what
mike
was
talking
about,
you
don't
have
a
lot
of
light.
D
Lightweight
very
smooth:
it's
got
air
holes
in
it.
If
you
would
press
against
it,
you
can.
It
doesn't
really
have
a
lot
of
give,
but
it's
got
some
give.
D
A
B
Yeah
bob's
in
on
the
east
coast,
yeah
that'd,
be
an
interesting
thing
now.
I
know
actually
at
the
same
moment
there's
this
design
meeting
going
on.
That's
where
mike
is
right.
Now
we
accidentally
have
this.
We
schedule
the
meeting
at
the
same
time,
but
I
think
I
think
mike
and
bob
would
be
great
to
reach
out
to
so
maybe
what
we
can
do
after
this
esteban.
B
If
you
want
to
send
a
message
to
bob
and
I'll
cc
mike,
you
can
ask
him
about
using
the
plastic
palm
piece
from
the
kinetic
hand
and
having
a
forearm
attachment.
The
nice
thing
about.
That,
too,
is
that
if
it
did
go
all
the
way
around,
you
could
pad
it
on
the
inside.
So
you
couldn't.
B
And
you
can
mention
that
you
could
say
that
your
arm
gets
a
little
cold
and
if,
if
you
guys
could
come
up
with
some
sort
of
attachment,
he
might
be
able
to
print
the
piece
and
send
it
to
you
and
then
you
could
tie
it
on
with
you
know.
I
don't
know
different
material
and
have
it
even
snap
in
or
something.
D
Or
we
could
figure
out
how
the
the
printing
went
with
the
drill,
holes
and
print
him
another
gauntlet
right,
a
little
bit
bigger
so
that
he
can
line
it
and
screw
it
in
the
only
problem
with
this
is
that
when
it's
too
small
I'm
trying
to
put
my
hand
in
it's
much
too
small,
but
I
right
here-
I
can
almost
get
it
in
and
it's
not
it
doesn't.
It's
definitely
not
fitting
right,
but.
D
A
C
A
B
You
think
about
the
design.
Does
that
work
well,
for
you
or.
D
It
does,
except
I've,
got
this
thumb
that
doesn't
have
as
much
as
much
territory.
B
It's
probably
also
strange
to
have
your
thumb
having
new
movement,
because
it's
used
to
working
in
a
certain
way,
but
to
have
that
those.
B
Asking
your
thumb
to
work
in
a
new
way,
a
little
bit.
D
D
A
D
A
C
No
they're,
you
pull
them
and
they
tighten.
I
don't
know.
A
B
Interesting
judy's
talking
about
the
current
design
that
she's
working
with
it,
feels
tight
and
doesn't
have
enough
space
that
the
pocket
for
her
residual
hand,
isn't
big
enough
and
for
esteban.
It
almost
seems
like
it's
too
big
for
his
arm.
You
know
filling
it
up
having
it
having
it
be
more
snug
of
a
fit
for
your
arm,
and
maybe
you
know
something
underneath
it
would
help,
but
that's
that
customization
part.
You
know
the.
B
While
judy's
grabbing
that
esteban
in
the
chat,
I
added
a
link
to
all
the
other
arm
designs
you
can
check
out.
I
think
the
one
that
you
have
is
is
that's
the
most
popular
one,
there's
also
a
nyap
arm
that
I'll
see.
If
I
can
find.
D
They
made
with
the
first
when
they
made
these
little
fillers
to
go
inside
to
fit
against
your
residual
arm
so
that
there
wouldn't
be
there
wouldn't
be
space
like
this.
They
made
three
different
sizes.
A
B
I
think
it
could
be
worthwhile
to
look
into
the
kinetic
hand
and
see
if
he's
got
an
arm
design.
That's
that
was
made
by
a
guy
in
australia
named
matt
botel.
B
A
D
A
B
You
should
be
able
to.
Let
me
I
can
make
you
a
co-host
there
we
go
yep,
give
it
a
try.
A
D
So
she
wanted
to
picture
a
cast
of
my
unaffected
hand
and
a
cast
of
my
affected
hand
and
whoops.
D
D
So
this
is
the
stuff
I'm
using
I'll
just
save
so
you
just
mix
it
up
with
water,
cold
water
in
the
kind
of
a
a
it's
the
powdery
stuff
and
you
mix
it
up.
Stir
it
up
slowly
until
you've
got
one
to
one
material
and
you
you
make
enough
so
that
when
you
put
your
whatever
you're
casting
in
there's
enough
space
for
like
my
hand
and
some
space
around
it,
I
was
trying
to
get
my
some
of
my
wrists
too
and
holding
it
in
this
stuff.
D
D
C
D
Yes,
uh-huh
yeah,
so
that's
the
plaster
in
there
and
I
discovered
that
one
of
the
plaster
set
too
fast
and
I
couldn't
get
it
into
all
of
the
cavities
you're
supposed
to
pour
it
in
and
and
sort
of
whirl
it
around
and
throw
the
the
container
around
a
little
bit
to
get
into
the
small
spaces.
D
Yeah.
And
then
you
know
you
wait
for
a
couple
of
hours
and
and
then
you
can
start
peeling
it
off
and.
B
The
the
way
that
esteban
can
use
this
would
be
if
he
made
a
casting.
How
would
that
help
so
you're
saying
that?
Maybe
that
would
be
something
that
he
could
use
to.
D
D
D
The
it
would
it
would
fit
his
arm
better
if
you're
thinking
it's
too
big
esteban,
but
then
you
would
be
sure
to
get
a
more
accurate
like
when
connie
is
doing
mine.
She
used
the
unaffected
hand
to
make
sure
the
size
of
the
fingers
was
about
right
instead
of
having
to
be
too
big
like
mike,
was
talking
about
that
one
a
couple
weeks
a
couple
of
meetings
ago
and
then
she
used
the
affected
hand
to
make
sure
the
the
cavity
space
or
the
pocket
space
was
marginal
and
not
too
large
right.
D
D
B
Great
you've
done
a
lot
of
work
with
this
judy.
I
think
I
think
your
experiences
with
this
would
be
really
helpful
for,
for
some
other
folks
too,
that
are
maybe
trying
to
find
more
customization
for
for
a
device
that
really
could
be
helpful,
especially
for
long
distance
collaborations
to
be
able
to
send
you
know
a
mold
that
makes
it
really
precise.
D
Right
right,
the
thing
that
you
pour
the
click,
the
plaster
into.
A
A
D
D
B
I
wanted
to
share
something.
This
is
a
a
little
bit
of
a
tangent,
but
we
were
talking
about
the
kinetic
arm
and
I
was
looking
to
see
the
kinetic
hand.
That's
what
judy
has
and
I
was
looking
to
see
what
new
posts
they've
had
if
they
have
an
arm
design.
I
didn't
see
an
arm
design
yet,
but
I
thought
you
guys
might
appreciate
this
they're
working
on.
B
Design
you've
seen
this
estimate
yeah.
I
did
see
this
yeah,
so
if
you
look,
they
have
this
set
up
to
the
guy
in
the
black
shirt,
he's
got
a
little
strap
on
his
forearm.
So
as
he's
tensing,
the
muscle
the
hand
the
hand
is
responding.
B
See
you
can
see
it's
not
perfect,
but
but
that
could
be
something
to
to
maybe
explore
so
esteban
for
your
arm,
where
you
can
control
the
muscle
down
near
your
elbow
yeah
right.
So
that
could
be
something
to
to
I
mean
that's
pretty
precise.
You
basically
start
using
those
muscles
again,
but
with
a
strap
that
that
is
sensing
when
those
muscles
are
being
activated
and
then
it
changes
the
the
hand
orientation.
C
A
B
It's
interesting,
you
know,
there's
a
bionic
project
going
on
right
now,
if
you
guys
are
interested
in
those
kind
of
designs,
and
now
again
I
I
think
john
chol
is
always
the
first
to
say
that
bionic
is
it's
interesting
stuff,
but
there's
probably
more
headaches
than
you
know.
B
So
the
bionic
project
they
meet
once
a
week
I'll
add
a
link.
You
know.
Actually
a
person
to
look
at
chad
corsi
could
be
a
person
for
you
esteban
to
check
out
he's
got.
This
is
an
old
video
from
2019,
but
he's
got
a
similar
residual
arm.
As
you
and
he's
got
this
design,
you
can
see
the
arm
adapter.
B
B
I'm
not
sure
if
those
are
sensors,
I
know
he's
working.
I
think
this
one
is
is
manual,
but
I
know
he's
working
on
some
projects
with
with
sensors,
but
that
the
nice
thing
about
his
design
is
that
it
allows
him
to
twist
his
arm.
C
A
B
Can
you
yeah
all
right,
so
that
might
be
what
you
want
to
check
out.
C
D
A
D
A
B
D
B
The
other
nice
thing
is
because
of
the
sort
of
universal
adapter
at
the
end,
it
could
be
something
where
you
could
just
pick
and
choose
whatever
hand
you
want.
So
it
looks
like
from
from
the
look
of
it
just
like
with
your
other
prosthetic.
You
could
have
one
for
weight.
Lifting
you
could
have
one
for.
You
know,
like
a
kinetic
hand,
sort
of
like
judy's.
B
You
know
you
could
you
could
have
different
ring
right
right
adapters.
At
the
end
I
mean,
maybe
that
also
could
work
with
a
a
string
that
goes
up
to
your
elbow
or
your
shoulder,
so
you
could
sort
of
have
it
be
activated
that
way,
I'm
not
sure,
but
he's
he's
been
really
involved
with
with
doing
development
stuff,
chad
corsi,
I
haven't
seen
any
of
his
work
recently.
B
B
But
I'll
add
the
link
to
to
this
groups
for
the
two
of
you
guys,
if
you're
interested
you're
welcome
to
join
it
and.
B
That's
the
one
using
the
device,
okay
and
let
me
see
if
I
can
find
a
link
to
chad.
I
haven't
seen
him
on
the
hub
so
much,
but
he
is.
He
came
to
the
enable
con
in
2019
when,
when
the
video
was.
A
B
B
B
Oh
yeah,
something
to
explore
if,
if
you
could
reach
out
to
chad
esteban
and
I
could
find
his
email,
I
have
his
email.
Actually,
let
me
let
me
pull
that
up
if
you
could
reach
out
to
chad.
B
Getting
even
a
simple
bionic
hand
at
the
end,
wouldn't
be
so
hard
so
the
gripper
hand,
the
first
hand
that
we
we
gave
you
when
we
met
the
ripper
that
one
you
pull
the
thumb
and
it
closes
there's
a
version
of
that.
That's
bionic
that
has
a
little
button
at
the
bottom
and
when
you
hit
the
button
it
opens
and
when
you
hit
the
button
again,
it
closes
and
having
something
like
that
to
screw
into.
B
Let's
see
yep,
this
is
this
is
chad's.
B
B
D
Well,
this
has
been
good.
I'm
gonna
have
to
go
no.
A
A
B
Briefly,
I
think
esteban
showed
up
right
when
you
were
leaving
a
couple
months
ago,
so
I'll
try
to
find
a
regular
time
that
we
can
do
this
meeting.
It
sounds
like
weekends
would
be
okay,
for
esteban
and
and
for
judy.
Probably
noon
is,
is
a
good
time
to
still
have
an
opportunity
for
folks
to
join
from
other
places.
I
I
never
know
who's
going
to
come,
though.
A
B
B
Oh
yeah,
all
right!
Well,
that's
the
third
though,
but
that's
probably
gonna
be
a
busy
time
for
you
guys.
I
won't
be
around
okay.
The
other
idea
is,
you
could
do
it
on
fridays.
We
could
do
friday.
The
second.
A
D
B
B
Try
the
10th,
let's,
let's
say
the
10th
at
noon
and
let's
aim
for
the
second
saturday
of
every
month.
What
do
you
think.
B
D
D
B
I'm
gonna
try
to
set
up
something
where
it's
the
same
link
it'd
be
great
to
have
the
same
link
for
you
guys.
We
could
set
up
a
youtube
live
if
we
wanted
to,
but
really
it's
it's
less
about.
You
know
anybody
that
participates
really
it'd
be
great
to
have
them
here.
So.
A
B
Maybe
we
don't
need
the
youtube
stuff,
but
yeah
I'll
see.
If
I
can
come
up
with
the
same
link
and
we
we
could
even
set
it
up.
So
it
just
yeah
it'll
just
be
a
reoccurring
thing,
that'd
be
easier.
B
B
So
you
can
copy.
If
you
go
to
the
chat,
you
can
select
all
and
you
can
copy
it.
I
can
also
just
email
it
to
you.
If
that's
easier.
B
Right,
let
me
also
show
you
real,
quick,
too
I'll,
send
you
the
email,
heads
or
tails,
but
there's
also
the
archive
that
is.
A
C
B
You'll
see
that
there's
the
video
there's
some
links
about
the
conversation,
there's
a
list
of
all
the
links
that
people
talked
about
and
then
there's
the
chat
at
the
bottom.
Okay,.
B
How's,
your
how's,
your
printing,
going.
A
B
That's
cool
yeah
it'd
be
cool
to
have
a
have
print,
a
shirt
that
matches
your
arm.
You
know
be
able
to
have
that
full
kit.
I
don't
know.
Sometimes
I
think
about
that,
like
being
able
to
have
adapters
that
you
know
like
I'll,
I
don't
know,
wear
different
hats,
depending
on
what
shirts
I'm
wearing
sometimes.
