Greece meet everyone. My name is jv. I work on the collabs team with hq who, unfortunately, is sick today, um but I wanted to talk through some of the efforts that's going on in collabs land on how are we working closer with other ecosystems, and so when we talk about integrations the way that we sort of think about this is partially as a social problem, partially a technical problem and we've been working across uh with other folks in this working group actually uh to really try to tackle on both fronts.

um So I quickly wanted to run through some of the efforts that are going on and then specifically dive into some of the the more recent uh events and things that have landed uh that might be exciting to just keep on folks's radar um and so yeah. When we think about the social side, I think there's two things that we're really trying to nail here. One is an awareness problem.

How do we make people aware of the value props why they should use ipfs, why they should use falcoin, why it should matter to them and that that's really focused then on education, evangelism awareness, but then also there's the technical side of this, which is how do we make it easy for them to want to make that decision where, ideally them going from understanding?

Why it matters to use these different tools and technologies shouldn't be super, far divorced from actually pulling the trigger and making that choice, um and so one of the places where we've really done this is using some of the different efforts that we have for grants and funding to give people the support. um So when we think about some of the social side of this, uh we've worked closely to follow on uh with things like grants, programs to build relationships in specific ecosystems. uh Earlier late last year, we had some programs with hedera polygon flow.

These were really targeted when we start thinking about how do we give space for builders to both experiment with technologies uh in other ecosystems, but collaborate with our own, um as well as uh give them uh potential opportunities to try new ideas where we would see some potential collaboration?

uh Our experience with these programs was, although they were nice and they like definitely helped on the marketing and awareness they didn't yield as high results, and we already have some existing programs, so we've actually rolled more of those efforts into pulling together or just working more closely with the existing grants. Programs that we have, but the thing that's actually been more interesting, has been working with dedicated arms in these ecosystems.

So when we think about like flow and their venture arm, polygon has like polygon studios pairing more directly uh as like a go to market both for an education. So as like flows, making investments into specific teams. How do we talk to those teams and just educate them about the things that we're working on um and then also potentially provide support, whether that's technical or funding, and so brad from the pl fund has been working closely with a number of these other ecosystem vc teams, um but then also for some of the vertical alignments.

So when you think about, like I mentioned polygon studios, there's other ecosystem type funds that exist of this nature, uh really digging in and trying to like figure out. How can we best support, like the gaming use cases using our tools and technology? I'll talk a little bit later about some of the primitives that we're building and some of the things that the dot storage team has been working on?

That's been really helping support on that front um and when we think about support uh it's not just like education and funding, uh I think another part of this also is just technical support. uh One thing that we've been really working hard on is just creating the right pathways to people who are looking for support as they're building and have questions they know where they can get the answers.

uh This is partially just dev teams uh being willing to like have open slack channels, telegram channels things like that, but it's also been the community of folks folks who are hopefully listening to this call anyone who's hanging out in the nft storage channel or the web3 storage channel, and answer your questions. You're, helping support, bring more people into this ecosystem, which is amazing.

um The other quick social thing I'll talk about is on the hackathon side we found this has actually been really effective, not just for bringing new developers into the ecosystems, but also building relationships with other ecosystems.

Earlier I think it was earlier. In march we actually had a gaming themed hackathon. Those are always great opportunities to be able to engage with other ecosystems. Folks, like gala games, have been really great partners.

They also use ipves and fall coin as part of their stack and so being able to enable those teams to both talk about their work and share it with a new community of builders, but also having them uh get closer to our ecosystem as well uh is just like mutually beneficial, uh so shout out to lucas and the hackathon team for giving us the opportunities to do that.

Another one to maybe call out was also the avalanche hackathon with morales, um but I think really, those are just great ways that we've been able to work closer with other ecosystems uh and also just like make our tools and technology front and center uh for builders who are coming, maybe more primarily also to those ecosystems. uh Thinking like we're going to nfts if they're going to nft and avalanche having nfd storage and some of our tools be like in their brain as the place to stick the content.

All also say for the events team, so shout out to jamie and angie um the the things that we've been doing with uh just our event. Strategy in general has really, I think, supercharged as we've seen the nft storage numbers as well. uh Just like the awareness of the things that we're doing, if denver was an amazing opportunity.

Sadly, half of us got covered but met literally, like thousands of people to talk about nfc storage and the things that we're doing making people more aware south by southwest as well again, I think alan touched on it, but these are really great for the education side and just getting people to be more aware of like what are the things that we're doing um so, I guess yeah in summary, on the funding and the like events hackathons side, all these are really great for solving some of that social problem of how do we make people aware?

How do we get them to the point of making the decision of like why they should want to use our tools and technology? I think the other half, then, is the technical, which is where a lot of the other effort has been going in on. How do we keep sanding on the friction points, so that using our tools is just the easiest choice, so we can make it like uh obvious.

Why, like on all fronts, why you should do the right thing um so, on the technical side, I think uh the most interesting questions has been like actually looking at what people are trying to do, especially for web through use cases and then just uh making those flows very straightforward.

So when we think about nfts as an example, I think we've seen a very common pattern where most people aren't trying to control necessarily the like storage of their content from a smart contract. The thing that they want to do is anchor a cid on chain and then have that cid just always exist, and so things like what the nft storage team has done has been fantastic and just making that flow very straightforward.

But I think we are seeing some other early other use cases more closer like game forest, where there's other things going on that people care about having bridges and other smart contract type flows. uh Earlier, the falcon foundation had mentioned. uh Polka dot has been working on a bridge uh t fall coin, but also the textile team has built some really great bridges between near uh polygon.

I think they have an eth one as well, and it uses like chain link oracles to read off a state, and I think that is an interesting and maybe underexplored set of use cases.

I think it might be a little bit early compared to what uh the state of the like the general web 3 ecosystem is, but I think, by having both of these options available, we have pathways for developers who are trying to both experiment with like new paradigms of what they can do with decentralized storage, as well as supporting the base use cases that people are coming to today um inside of the nft uh mediversi gaming sort of like flows.

I think we've been thinking about this, both in collaboration with the dev advocates team on this is so partially social here as well uh on the the tutorial side just like how do we make it uh easy for people to have like a walk-through of how do you use our technologies uh to actually store data so with harmony uh we've been embedded in their docs as like when you're getting started with mint again nft? How do you do that with ipfs and falcoin same for polygon?

There's a couple different flows, uh but all of them uh involve ipfs and falcon, which is amazing inside of solana. More recently, there was a metaplex integration which is really great I'll talk about that a little bit more in a second as well, but including even in our docs pathways, where we can help educate people.

So if there is a solana user who is trying to use metaplex, there's answers to like how do I make this just work um and then for evm chains really working with the nft storage team uh having like apis that just make it easy for people to do the right thing um in this case there's a metadata api that allows people to basically create 1155 compliant metadata.

It makes it such that, even if you're a new developer, unfamiliar with smart contracts, this removes a bit of friction and then just again becomes the easiest thing to do. um The other thing that we've done is actually just target specific multipliers in the space.

um So I think folks are aware of some of like the places we can think of multipliers in two forms: there's multipliers for like creators uh and in that bucket I would put these major nfc marketplaces so like integrating with openc magic, eden, halplex project galaxy people who create large amounts of content.

um They're, like these marketplaces, are making decisions on behalf of their users and so making it easy for them to integrate, which is where folks, like nft storage, have built some really great tools just to make that happen um also think about the corementing contracts. uh So things like metaplex is like the standard inside of solana. There's now a default option where, if you're, trying to mint with ipfs and falcoin, you actually can just use your solana wallet for off. You don't have to do any extra steps.

You don't have to go, acquire any tokens um so like really pushing the friction down there and then also targeting developers for with depth tools. So folks, like tatum, they build great services that have high adoption and just making sure that our tools are available. There's actually a quite long list of other folks that we're working on here, both infrastructure providers so like, if you're using your favorite ipfs pinning service.

How do we make sure that's also pushing into falcoin there's a there's, a broader set of dev tools as well, uh that we're also working on integrations uh but yeah? uh Those are not public, so we'll uh update folks as they land.

um I think one of the other cool things that we've been doing to push things forward on the technical side is really focusing on what our technology can offer, that other technology can't, and so, when we start thinking especially for gaming in the metaverse, these like heavier requirements that are more than just like jpegs for pfps.

I think there's like interesting questions that I think even in the web, 2 land uh could be improved by some of the primitives we have with verifiability. So when we start thinking about like how do we better like process data for reads, uh there's some interesting work going on with ipld chunking. This is something that the dot storage team is also helping out with primitives for mutability.

So if people want verifiable assets, think, like you, have an nft charmander that can evolve to your charizard, you don't want to have to burn and reissue that nft and so reviving and making things like ipns, more accessible.

There's a lot of really interesting work, that's going on on this front as well, but by building out these different primitives. The thing that we're doing is we're offering something that allows people to not have to make the trade-off.

If you are a game developer and you want to make an nft or something that actually works really well here, what we're doing is we're trying to make it such that you don't have to sacrifice and use a centralized url in order to like create the the experience that you want for your users, you can get the best of the verifiability as well as getting the like um yeah uh getting the primitives that you need in order to build the experiences that you want um so yeah. I I guess like putting this all.

In summary, I think that the real thing that we're targeting with a lot of these clubs is working much closer uh both from.

In on the of like why ipfs and falcoin, and then really focusing on the technical side to say both at like various decision points, how can we make it such that our tools are available for you and also? How do we make sure that the friction is super low and then just chasing very specific multipliers and the different folks who are uh building um so there's? uh Definitely a lot of work. That's going on on this front. The collab scheme is like quite large uh right.

We have folks, like you, shooters, chasing very aggressively in the polygon ecosystem, the near ecosystem, avalanche ecosystem, making tons of intros and reach outs. uh We have the berlin lighthouse team, that's really focused on the metaverse they're building, some really cool demos and like helping do a lot of evangelism for a lot of the traditional web 2 folks that are in there hq and I are going crazy trying to chase all these different leads, but yeah, that's sort of a quick summary of where things are going thanks. Everybody.
