ecosystem

leads
at
protocol
labs
and

but
for

are
new,
the
falcoin

machine

brings
programmability
to
falcoin.

actually
started
designing
the
beginnings
of
the
fvm
in
late
2021,
so
the
team
and
the
community
at
large
has
been
hard
at
work
for
close
to
two
years.
Now.

start
off
with
a
couple
of
minutes
around
introducing
what
is
a
VM
I'll
then
pass
over
to
Colin
Everett,
who
will
share
about
the
fvm
in
the
context
of
filecoin's,
larger
Vision?

first
panel
for

which
will
be
covering
long-term
opportunities
with
the
fbm,
with
Jonathan
Victor
and
a
couple
of
guests.

three

cover
what
is
the
fvm
in
a
very
short
and

sweet
introduction
for
for
all
of
us

So
there
are
actually
three
main
points
that
I
wanted
to
cover.
Today.
First
off
the
fvm
delivers
on-chain
programmability
to
the
falcoin
network.
This
really
is,
you
know,
delivering
smart
contract
capabilities.

Second
Point,
the
fvm
was
designed
to
have
multi-chain
support,
so
it's
possible
to
launch
multiple
run
times
and
so
forth,
but
today
we
launched
the
F
evm,
which
makes
the
fvm
evm
compatible.
What
this
really
means
is
that
developers
at
large
will
be
able
to
Port
over
a
write
and
deploy
ethereum
contracts
that
they're
really
familiar
with
and
enjoy
the
full
support
of
the
tools
that
they
are
also
very
familiar
with.

third
thing
is
the
fvm
will
allow
computation
over
filecoin
state.
So
what
this
really
means
is
that
anyone
will
be
able
to
deploy
smart
contracts
to
program
the
what
when
and
how
of
data
transactions
or
proofs
on
the
Falcon
Network.
So
we
believe
that
the
expressiveness
that
this
brings
and
the
openness
to
the
Falcon
economy
will
allow
very
sophisticated
offerings
to
be
built
on
top
of
our
Primitives,
and

really
paved
the
way
for
broader
adoption.

applications
of
the

magnitude
of

many
many

we're
not
there.

launch
of
fpm
today
really
initiates
step
three
of
the
filecoin
master
plan,
bringing
smart
contracts
and
user
programmability

coin

unleashing
the
enormous
potential
of
an
open
data
economy.

helps
me

think
about
it
in
this
diagram.

top
you
have
storage
markets,
retrieval
markets
and
compute
over
data,
which
are
the
off-chain
building
blocks
of
the
filecoin
network.

the
fvm
really
becomes
the
underlying
programmable
layer,
almost
like
the
operating
system

orchestrates
where
and
how
data
gets
placed,
incentivized
and
governed,
giving
rise
to
the
concepts
of
data
dials
and

Concepts

we've
never
seen
before
any
developer
can
deploy
smart
content,
smart
contracts
to

coin,
allowing
more
people
to
participate
in
the
creation
and
capture
around
data,
and
that
all
of
this
really
means
that
fvm
solidifies
filecoin
as
the

that
is
uniquely

It

launched

2016

the
first

So
why
is
this
such
a

deal?

which

extraordinarily

I'm
going
to
spend

few

recapping
the
progress
we've
made

filecoin

the

decentralized
storage

systems
across
44
countries,
with
13
exabytes
of
storage
capacity
enough
to
power,
4
billion
HD
movies
across
the
network.
This
is
huge
right.
This
is
an
incredibly
hard
thing
to
replicate
and
the
amount
of
Hardware
that's
been
amassed.
The
Falcon
Network
makes
it
incredibly
unique
within
the
web
3
space.

Now
over
the
last
year,
we've
also
seen
storage
fighter
systems
become
much
more
active
participants
in
the
Falcon
ecosystem.
The
percent
of
SP
is
taking
verified.
Deals
has
grown
over
6.5
x
in
the
last
year
from
about
three
percent
of
them.
Taking
deals
the
beginning
of
last
year
to
about
20
today,
and
so
SPS
are
really
finding
new
ways
to
differentiate
themselves
in
the
network
and
there's
a
huge
opportunity
to
accelerate
momentum.

In
2023
we
see
top-tier
Hardware
vendors,
leaning
in
with
reference
architectures
and
leasing
programs,
including
Seagate
AMD,
super
micro
and
many
many
others,
and
we
see
accelerator
programs
that
are
helping
more
SPS
get
started
around
the
world.
Espa
is
one
that's
been
extremely
successful,
with
five
or
six
cohorts
launching
in
Vegas
to
date
and
finally,
we're
working
to
make
sure
that
Falcon
is
the
greenest
storage
Network
on
the
planet
and
doing
so
verifiably
using
the
initiative
of
filecoin
green
great.
So
that's
step
one.
We
have
successfully
built
the
world's
largest
decentralized
storage
Network.

let's

on

onboarding
and
safeguarding
Humanities
data.
If
I
could
rewind
for
a
minute
back
to
the
beginning
of
2002-22,
there
was
about
24
petabytes
of
data
stored
on
filecoin
that
were
that
were
verified
in
the
last
14
months.
If
you
fast
forward
today,
that
data
is
up
27x
to
655
petabytes
of
verified
data
on
filecoin,
which
is
absolutely
enormous,
especially
during
a
bear
marketing.
Crypto
total
client
data
has
25x
since
January
2022..

This
makes
this
the
fastest
growing
storage
Network
amongst
the
world
three
to
four
petabytes
are
onboarded
per
day
and
it
all
actually
makes
filecoin
larger

to
take
note
of
filecoin
and
incorporate
it,
including
the
decentralized
storage
Alliance
and
IDC,
which
is
a
major
publication
in
the
web.

500
total
funded
teams,
building

the

ecosystems,
all
at
different
various
stages.

so
huge
congratulations

the
Falcon
community
in

accelerating

turbocharging

Two
there's
a
lot
of
work
to
be
done,
but
we've
made
a
tremendous
amount
of
progress
in
the
last
14
months
now.

us

three

fvm
really
kicks
off
step
three
by
bringing
on-chain
programmability

the
filecoin
network.

review
a

we
covered
earlier,
where

the
fundamental
building
blocks

for
treatable

and
compute

data,
all
of
which
is
on

seeing

sorts

coming

is

working
on

number

bridges
to
other
blockchain
networks.
We
really
want
to
build
connectivity
to
other
blockchains
where
smart
contracts
across
the
web3
state
space
can
store,
retrieve
and
cause
computation
to
date,
a
computation
to
happen
over
data
using
the
filecoin
network,
and
so
any
of
these
really
other
smart
contract
systems
can
use
filecoin
using
fvm
to
store
retrieve
or
cause
computation
to
happen
on
their
data.

Another
thing,
fem
really
enables
is
compute
over
data,
which
enables
massive
web
2
applications
to
finally
make
the
transition
to
web3.
Think
of
the
order
of
magnitude
of
Twitter,
twitch,
Tick,
Tock
and
many
others,
and
the
way
this
will
happen
on
filecoin
is
that
filecoin
will
be
in
L1,
where
many
different
L2
compute
networks
can
live
and
those
L2
networks
can
optimize
around
different
properties,
privacy,
verifiability
or
performance,
and
so
there
are
many
of
these
that
will
exist.

consensus
breakthroughs

allow

move

working
on

similar
mission
and
vision

creating

economy

perspective

industry
and
ecosystem

organized

these
different

community

or
the

it

right
like
because

holders
are
like
kind
of
self-congregate.

want
it

access

want

to

from

itself
that
can

built
on
top

anyone

developer

web

launch
that

really
excited
about
as
it
relates
to
you

open
and
permissionless
data
portability

users

actually
take
their
data

application

already
seeing
that
in
the
signing
with
ethereum
products,
or
you
know
lens
profiles,
you
can
start
to
take
your
data
around
and
so

think
filecoin
and
fem
kind
of
brings
that
into
the
data
layer.

only

you
bring
it
from
app
to
app,
you
can
start
putting
processes
around
it
like
compute
and

language

it's
really
exciting
to
see
all
this
cross

or

some

we've
seen

years

moves

warp

keeping
that
fuel
burning
for

and

biggest
opportunity
is
that
fem
opens
up
in
your
work
over
the
next
few
months

see

number
of
different
communities
that
are
growing
in
the

space,
decentralized,

mission

rebuild
the
centralized
systems
that
are
ways
that

better
for
Humanity
better
for
society,
but
they
all
require
better
infrastructure
to
do
it.
They
require
the
best
of
web
to
infrastructure,
but
they
want
all
the
crypto
economic
benefits
of
web3
and
I.

Think
fem
is
really
leading
the
space
in
terms
of
providing
decentralized,
storage,
decentralized,
compute,
decentralized
services
that
those
projects
need.
So
it's
really
fun
to
be
a
part
of
a
team.
That's
actually
building
in
this
space
and
hoping
hoping
to
hopefully
kind
of
incubate
these.
These
nascent
spaces
of
web
Theory.

lot
of
that
that
data
is
now
being
archived
right
now,
simply
just
because
you
know
like
people
that
want
to
pay
the
bill
to
like
story
and
S3
is
too
expensive
right.
You
can
be
like
40
40
terabytes
every
week
that
adds
up
pretty
quickly.
But
you
know:
filecoin
has
a
very
different
economics
right.
There's
13
exabytes
of
storage
space
right
there
that
people
can
use
to
like
really
archive
all
of
their
data,
so
so
that
that
starts
to
become
a
possibility.

is
to
preserve

nft

as
a
public

so

imagine

bringing
the
opportunity

Perpetual
storage

just
absolutely
massive,

exciting

how
to
sort

startup

2023
there's
a

kind
of
a
longer
talk,
but
I
I'll,
just
kind

give
the

tldr
here,

is
you
know
you
have
to
think
about
kind
of
all
the
different
stages
that
you
might
be
might
be
in
over
time.
So
you
first
first
most
of
you
out.

There
are
already
in
the
stage
which
is
you're,
constantly
learning
a
lot
about
the
world
and
learning
about
potential
different
kinds
of
things
that
you
might
want
to
build.
The
first
major
step
that
you
need
to
take
is
to
start
experimenting
with
ideas,
as
you
have
heard,
of
many
potential
ads
today.
Think
of
experimenting
with
those
and
building
early
hacks,
so
think
of
whether
it's
kind
of
a
paper
prototype
or
a
figment
prototype,
or
you
actually
go
and
build
a
thing.
Think
of
of
that
experimentation.

It's
really
key
to
start,
taking
your
first
step
into
your
first
movement
towards
towards
building
with
FM,
then
from
there
once
you
have
find
an
idea
that
might
then
that
maybe
has
legs
think
of
jumping
into
into
early
validation.
So
so
hackathons
are
extremely
useful
because
they
help
you
experiment
with
ideas,
and
they
also
combine
some
of
that
early
validation
moment
to
give
you
a
lot
of
feedback
from
any
different
groups.
Thinking
about
your
your
Tech.

In
these
moments,
people
tend
to
support
a
lot
of
their
their
work
either.
By
doing
this,
as
kind
of
a
part-time
thing,
while
they
work
elsewhere
or
through
scholarships,
prizes
grants
and
so
on
so
be
on
the
lookout
for
that
kind
of
thing,
then
after
that,
once
you've
gotten,
you
know,
is
some
kind
of
product
that
potentially
has
likely
validated
it,
and
so
on.
You're
you're
now
ready
to
go
and
start
the
startup.

So
this
is
where
looking
at
many
of
the
accelerator
programs
out,
there
can
be
extremely
useful.
So
so
this
is,
the
eco-faco
network
has
has
worked
with
a
lot
of
different
communities
to
help
bring
accelerator
programs
to
support
a
lot
of
developers,
building
on
on
Falcon
and
fem,
so
stay
tuned
for
that,
and
then,
of
course,
from
that
you
get
into
kind
of
getting
traction
growing.

The
the
thing
I
wanted
to
leave
you
with
is,
in
addition
to
kind
of
thinking,
about
how
to
take
your
ideas
and
and
translating
them
into
into
applications
and
startups,
and
so
on
so
think
about
how
this
the
major
next
moment
in
step,
three,
the
kind
of
like
bringing
computation
to
the
data.
So
as
Colin
mentioned
already
in
this
kind
of
broader
faculty
master
plan
step,
one
is
to
build
the
world's
largest
decentralized
source.

Network
we've
achieved
that
which
is
thanks
to
a
ton
of
the
work
from
so
many
participants
across
the
world.
Step
two
is
to
onboard
and
save
save
card.
Humanities
data
we've
had
a
tremendous
amount
of
of
improvement
here
and
we're
onboarding.
You
know
now
you
know
close
to
four
petabytes
a
day,
which
is
a
huge
amount
of
data.

A
lot
of
fem
and
platform
applications
are
going
to
have
so
think
of
you
know,
being
able
to
use
things
like
bacalao
and
other,
and
other
projects
to
you
know,
run
ml
workflows
in
these
kinds
of
kinds
of
clouds.
I'll
one
of
the
most
exciting
things
that
I've
seen
built
with
FM
so
far
is:
is
the
blending
of
ml
models.
The
example
we
already
heard
about
the
examples
for
being
able
to
do.

You
know
kind
of
stable
diffusion
jobs
and
so
on
think
of
this
extending
to
you
know
full
transformative
models
and,
and
so
on,
so
being
able
to
run
all
of
those
kinds
of
systems
directly
through
the
Computing
Cloud.
That
popcorn
gives
you
both
in
terms
of
the
large-scale
data,
storage
and
data
user.

You
might
need
to
do
Gathering
massive
training
data
sets
and
being
able
to
to
then
schedule
all
the
computation
to
make
that
that
happen,
plus
all
of
the
actual
prompts
and
invocations
that
you
might
need
to
do
do
on
top.
So
I
expect
that
we'll
see
a
lot
of
different
computation
l2s
building
on
top
of
outgoing
now
that
we
have
these
Primitives,
so
think
of
different
kinds
of
use,
cases
and
different
kinds
of
models
for
computation
and
those
yielding
different
kinds
of
relatives.

And
so,
if
we
can
do
this
really
well,
then
we
can
scale
the
blockchain
networks
in
general
to
now
be
able
to
give
a
proper
Computing
Foundation
at
the
scale
required
by
the
kind
of
mass
Market
style
applications
that
we
we
use
them
and
every
day
right.
So,
if
you
think
about
most
of
the
applications
that
you
use
today,
very
few
of
them
end
up
using
blockchains
today,
because
blockchains
are
not
yet
at
the
scale
required
to
do.
