Notes:
- The. Wallaby test net has been stably running for about 10 days now
We have our first foreign miners on the network (including Jim Pick who just started mining today)
- Wallaby is running nodes in Germany - each of which run a keep-alive miner (bootstrap miner)
- Wallaby has 2 miners (incl 512MB miner & 32 GB) accepting deals now
- Wallaby is on a 7-10 day reset timeline for releases
- Wallaby has a core network in Germany on f8 hardware and have also rented infra in Canada & Singapore to provide 2 more bootstrap nodes.
- Glif Nodes will be providing public RPC endpoints for the Wallaby testnet in the near future

About the FVM:

Currently Filecoin is known for being a decentralised storage and retrieval network, providing over 17 EiB of distributed data storage capacity to the world through thousands of Storage providers globally.

And we can think of this distributed storage network as being the layer zero of the Filecoin Architecture Network because ..
Storage is really only the start!

We want to be able to compute and analyse over and with the data on the Filecoin network!

And this is the goal of the FVM - to enable users to be able to deploy their own smart contracts (or actors as they are termed in the Filecoin ecosystem) and unlock the ability to perform on-chain computation over state data.

This additional layer of capability - which we can consider to be the layer 1 of the network - adds programmability to the already robust, permissionless storage network that is Filecoin.

Smart contracts + storage = FVM.

The last minute good morning, I assume um to the European crowd the afternoon fat man, um um yes uh semi-ready um as I just got invited this morning and have a nothing to screenshot at least yeah. We we are running the wallaby test match by now um it's running stable for yeah over a week, I think almost 10 days now, um I think we got our first two foreign miners on the network that mine, I, think um Jim just started mining today, um his first Miner tin, Supreme, Med versions, um yeah.

What why are we running? We are. We are running two notes in Germany in two different data: centers um that each run um in non-growing uh keep a life minor; basically, the bootstrap minor plus another one, that's clone of the bootstrap minor, the technical clone.

um They have like right now, most likely two little sector sealed or pre-sealed to to prevent an attack. We didn't even thought about that.

um But, as Roger said, we are on a on a seven day, um reset schedule, maybe 10 days and we most likely will steal more than 32 sectors, as we have right now for the next iteration.

So we see maybe a terabyte of sectors with with each of the of the keeper life miners, so we have a core Network in in Germany um on our own Hardware, our own infrastructure, and have rented infrastructure um in Singapore and in Canada to provide two more nodes: um bootstrap nodes right from the beginning of every Network um yeah every network, reset I, think um I will talk to Raul how we can can version number this um as soon as the reset begins.

So so we we know, we either follow the the release names or are we just attached numbers to those names to make clear? Who is um what are we actually running? um It looks like I'm, not sure. If Raul is still aware of this I think Ellie said um Raul plans to release new new versions on Friday or try to merge um the branch on Friday and we get it into Lotus on Friday.

Then we would prepare the network over the weekend, as um I am in China right now, I'm, basically six hours in front of you from the time.

um We would have the network ready on Sunday night Chinese Sunday night, so that by by UTC 8 A.M on Mondays, we will have a stable Network again for for everyone in Europe to start working on it.

um We recording it with the glyph guys to to get the end points on Mondays too um Ellie. Do we already have a a block Explorer.

Not that I know of is there a block Explorer.

uh Eva Eva's managing that I think she's trying to get to fill the scan uh she's on the call by the way, so she might be able to to jump in.

Yeah there will I think Jonathan said there will be the glyphics floor, which is is more basic for account lookups but I'm not sure about Phil scan yet because it's not not a one-click deploy, um but we're talking to them.

Okay, yeah, we we make sure we will try to make sure to have that um integrated into the the notification flow um over the weekend. So whoever runs a block Explorer will be able to yeah get onto the network. Let me say it around: Lot number 1000 or something like that. Half a day in when we can be clear and stable.

um We have two miners deployed on the network right now, a 512 megabyte Miner that is accepting deals from everyone. It's just open. If you need deals for your smart contract or I, don't know, are we already in smart contracts, territory or not? Whoever needs to needs to make deals, be it for fun, be it for development.

um We have a 512 megabytes minor um in Germany and 32 gigabyte manager in Germany um that accept around the terabyte or technically could seal a terabyte per day in sectors together.

um The 512 megabytes minus limit to limited to a sector at a time. So you don't get more than six sectors an hour out of it. Yeah.

So I just want to say what Patrick is doing is super super useful here and I, and- and this is this will be the first time that actors that you Deploy on a network can will be able to access, will be able to get information like real information from the system in terms of power deals uh sectors and so on, because the especially deals on the storage Market, because with the local devnet, uh the way that local Dev networks is you spin up some pre, uh some miners with the pre-sealed sectors, and then they continue adding new power to the network, whereas that this never deals.

So really. uh You know this is gonna like what Patrick is doing here and kind of like having these miners that are making deals is gonna is gonna. Give you is gonna, give you a new set of data on the Falcon Network that you can retrieve and interact with with through the built-in actors. Now.

Beware that the public interfaces, so whatever actors you deploy that are using the built-in actors apis um just be aware that those apis are going to change over time, because they're currently in in a version that is not intended to be public so like the functionality will get. You experimenting, but just know that the that the shape of those apis is going to change over time um and and yeah, and uh thanks Patrick for being available to reproduce, use cases or deals and like stuff that I guess cases that people want to test against.

um I. Think over time we've been thinking about how we can create a test net that would already automatically show different patterns of behavior of miners so potentially having minors that are failing, 50 of their time having minors that are failing that are always that are always posting correct proofs having minors that are not taking deals. Having miners that are taking snap deals only having miners that are taking all kinds of deals like having it would be cool, and this is like an exercise for this.

This is a future desire right and maybe something that somebody they can run with in the future, like I think.

To be more sophisticated in the way that uh it's creating cases automatically that developers can test again so maybe, like you know, we have specific configurations of Miners and profiles of minors such that minor 1001, for example, is a minor that you know is onboarding at a stable rate and always succeeding in their in the in posting. Their proofs, minor to the miners sitting at 2002, is failing their proofs 50 of the time uh miners. Three minor number three is onboarding sectors and then terminating them.

Every week, like you know you can, we can play with patterns and configurations of miners like this, so that developers always have a spectrum of cases that they and they know where those cases are sitting in the network so that they can test their their actors. Again, that's just like one idea, potentially idea for the future.

We are running something similar to test our our alarming system against so developing our our minor monitoring system and, in the end, it's a lock generation tool. If.

Are not looking at chains at the chain, but that locks, so we we every time a new Lotus comes out we're running a certain amount of tests with with small sector miners to to generate the logs and see if all alarms are still working in our systems.

It's an interesting idea to do that on the live on the network, yeah.
