Description

Join us for an audio-visual experience featuring visual artist Osman Koc and musicians Dan Gorelick and Ollella. Live vocals and instrumentals are layered with live-coded electronic elements using a coding library called TidalCycles. All the visuals are generated in real-time and sound reactive, through a custom software instrument Osman Koc has developed.

Dan Gorelick is a Brooklyn and San Francisco based artist, developer, and creative technologist. He blends live-coding with acoustic and electronic instruments to create improvisational performances. He uses an open-source tool called TidalCycles, to create musical ideas on-the-fly. He performs and gives workshops around making music with code. He is an organizer of the live-code communities, livecodeNYC and AVClubSF.

Ellie Barber AKA Ollella's career as a musician started early, when she sang before she could talk. Trained as a classical cellist since the age of nine, the Seattle indie-folk musician merges her technical background with authoritative vocals, live-looping, and improvisation. In her music, she blends the acoustic with the contemporary, folk with pop, and tenacity with softness pulling on influences such as Feist, Jesca Hoop, and Cat Power.

Osman Koç is a creative technologist and artist who uses technology as a medium for expression and means by which to dissolve the perceived barriers between stage and audience. Guided by his curiosities, Osman's work touches many fields including cybernetics, artificial intelligence, biosensors, kinetic sculptures, reactive lighting, audiovisual performances and games with alternative physical controllers. Based in San Francisco, CA, Osman consults for a variety of agencies and brands, produces immersive installations, delivers keynotes, and performs as a live VJ.
