communities

open
source
software
mean.

even

opening

already

developers

to

to
a
keynote

So
you
know

I
grew
up,
there
was
no
internet,
there
was
no
open
source
or
when
open
source
existed,
it
was
something
that
was
described
in
a
book,
but
it
didn't
really
mean
something
to
me
and
it's
it's
easy.
It's
easy
to
forget
what
life
was
like
back.

Then,
when
you
had
to
figure
out
all
by
all
by
yourself.
You
know
how
to
read
magazines
and
books,
and
then,
if
you're
stuck
at
night,
you
had
to
go
to
Computer
Club
the
next
morning
or
find
somebody
that
can
help
you
and
figure
it
out,
and
then
the
internet
came
and
all
of
a
sudden
we
could,
you
know,
exchange
discussions
in
in
news
groups
and
Newsnet
and
whatnot
and
then
obviously
open
source
started
growing
and
it
means
the
world
I
think
to
everybody
every
developer.
Today,
every
developer
is
using
open
source.

It
would
be
kind
of
crazy
of
not
using
open
source,
and
so
it
has
completely
transformed
how
we
think
about
software,
how
we
build
software.
Obviously
we
can
read
code
and
modify
code
and
for
code
and
then
put
pull
requests,
but
we
also
have
the
ability
to
collaborate
all
around
the
world
right.
What
what
open
source
is
actually
better
at
is
the
collaboration
model
right.
That
is
why
open
source
has
one,
because
we
collaborate
across
countries
across
religions
across
anything.
It
doesn't
matter
what
your
title
is,
where
you're
sitting
in
an
orc
chart.

pragmatic
programmer,
which
is
a
classic
and
that,
but
they
tell
the
story
of
a
software
developer,
who
will
walk
around
with
a
rubber
duck
and
because
coat

would
sit
the
duck
down
and
go
line
by
line
through
the
code,
and
so
why
would
he
talk
to
an
inanimate
object?
Well,
that's
the
point
by
talking
out
loud
to
something
that
cannot
talk
back.

reason

and
you
often
get
great
insights
just
through
that.

that
is
where

deal
with
humans

someone
may
come

means

transformational

Source

harder

get
into.
It

kind

figure

read

user
group

list,
with
the
idea
of
being
able
to
collaborate
and
meet
with
people
all
over
the
world
was
still
kind
of
a
foreign
concept.

your
code,
zip
it
up
into
a
tarball
if
you
had

ability

software,

anyone

want

go
back
to

developer
