From YouTube: Enablement:Global Search - GitLab 14.10 Kickoff
Description
No description was provided for this meeting.
If this is YOUR meeting, an easy way to fix this is to add a description to your video, wherever mtngs.io found it (probably YouTube).
A
Hi,
I'm
john
mcguire
and
I'm
the
product
manager
for
global
search.
I'm
going
to
take
you
through
some
of
the
changes
that
we're
looking
at
for
git
lab
1410,
gitlab
1410
will
be
our
last
14
x
release,
and
this
will
a
lot
of
the
things
that
we're
doing
are
in
preparation
for
getting
ready
for
the
the
big
release,
the
big
milestone
of
get
lab
15,
which
we're
even
more
excited
about.
A
Looking
at
the
details
on
gitlab
1410,
we
have
a
few
different
features
that
we're
really
ironing
out
and
all
of
it
is
about
making
sure
that
we're
compatible
with
the
different
flavors
of
elasticsearch
that
are
out
there
for
our
advanced
search
product.
A
A
A
A
So
without
further
explanation
on
that,
we
are
doing
a
a
quick
update
that
has
to
do
for
that
has
to
do
with
how
the
elasticsearch
client
works.
A
The
elasticsearch
client
has
a
few
different
things
that
are
incompatible
with
the
new
version
of
elasticsearch
8,
as
well
as
with
open
search.
A
A
I
have
created
an
epic
that
helps
explain
some
of
the
details
on
what
we're
doing
for
compatibility
using
elasticsearch
or
open
search
to
support,
advanced
search,
absolutely
open
to
feedback
on
questions
you
may
have
so
that
we
can
better
solve
any
of
the
questions
that
are
out
there
and
help
guide
our
customers
on
how
to
maintain
compatibility.
A
A
A
We
have
gotten
a
lot
of
direct
feedback
from
customers
that,
although
the
syntax
options
are
helpful,
when
you're
using
code
search,
it's
not
really
necessarily
easy
to
find
and
reference
those
how
those
syntax
opting
options
work
when
you
need
to
use
them.
A
So
we
are
designing
and
we'll
be
adding
in
a
modal
that
has
these
details
available
and
that
will
be
on
the
code
search
result
page
so
you'll
be
able
to
bring
up
the
modal
copy
and
paste
examples
in
and
be
able
to
use
your
your
own
syntax
modified
from
that
to
easily
get
to
the
syntax.
A
Options
we're
also
working
through
some
final
design
elements
and
something
that
we
hope
to
be
bringing
into
a
future
release
with
development
on
moving
the
scopes
that
have
traditionally
been
up
at
the
top
to
the
left
side
and
have
this
nice
left
navigation,
rail,
which
lines
up
with
some
of
the
filters
that
we've
already
added
across
some
of
our
scopes
and
eventually
we'll
be
looking
at
additional
things
like
having
something
that
includes
more
than
one
scope
at
the
same
time,
adding
additional
filters.
But
our
first
step
is
to
actually
get
this
new
ui
laid
out.
A
A
A
Another
kind
of
common
feature
that
we've
seen
across
lots
of
different
search
experiences
that
we
are
planning
to
implement
in
1410
is
expanding
the
search
nav
bar.
So
the
search
bar
that
you
see
up
at
the
top
when
you
click
on
it,
it
stays
right
where
it
is.
You
have
a
lot
of
real
estate
that
is
unused
by
expanding
this.
A
It
is
a
little
bit
better
to
be
able
to
choose
if
you
want
to
search
specifically
inside
that
group
of
project,
but
it's
not
necessarily
clear.
So
we've
come
up
with
a
new
ui
that
will
list
the
group
and
project
that
you'll
have
that's
specific
to
your
area
and
give
you
an
option
to
change
that
if
you
need.
A
So
these
are
both
changes
that
we're
actually
expecting
to
work
on
in
1410
and
we
should
be
able
to
get
to
get
ready
or
actually
pretty
excited
about,
and
that
is
our
focus
on
1410
again
yeah.
We're
really
focused
on
trying
to
make
sure
that
we're
compatible
with
the
current
versions
of
elasticsearch
and
open
search.
