From YouTube: How to create & alter page meta description
Description
No description was provided for this meeting.
If this is YOUR meeting, an easy way to fix this is to add a description to your video, wherever mtngs.io found it (probably YouTube).
A
Everybody
nile
creighton
here
from
the
gitlab
inbound
marketing
team,
and
today
I
just
want
to
do
a
very
quick
video
to
show
you
how
simple
and
easy
it
is
to
update
a
duplicate
or
missing
meta
description
on
a
page.
So
meta
descriptions
is
a
small
paragraph
of
text
that
is
shown
in
search
results,
and
it
is
this
paragraph
of
text
that
explains
to
a
search
of
the
information
that
they
can
find
within
a
page
and
as
such,
it
can
influence
click-through
rate,
but
also
having
duplicate
meta
descriptions
can
impact
on
website
health.
A
So,
for
these
reasons
we
try
and
keep
the
duplication
numbers
as
low
as
possible,
and
for
that
reason
we're
just
going
to
show
you
how
to
quickly
do
this
and
implement
the
change.
So
we're
just
going
to
look
at
the
moment
here.
We
have
a
list
of
pages
that
we
know
have
duplicate
meta
descriptions,
we're
going
to
choose
one
of
these.
These
are
handbook
pages.
A
So
the
reason
that
a
lot
of
these
duplications
occur
is
because
these
pages
specifically
will
use
templates
and
every
time
a
template
is
populated
or
recreated.
It
will
use
the
initial
meta
description
that
was
in
the
template,
so
for
that
reason
we
want
to
manually,
update
it
and
put
in
a
unique
meta
description.
So
here
we
have
the
infrastructure
page
in
the
handbook.
A
We
know
that
we
just
need
to
quickly
look
at
the
page
to
get
an
idea
of
the
content
of
the
page,
and
we
want
to
give
a
synopsis
of
what
is
on
the
page
as
the
unique
meta
description.
So
in
most
pages
the
simplest
process
of
doing
this
is
you
will
find
a
a
quick
overview
within
the
first
paragraph
or
first
couple
of
sentences
so
find
one
that
is
most
relative
to
give
a
breakdown
very
quickly.
A
What
has
been
the
page-
and
we
can
see
here-
this
first
sentence
is
absolutely
perfect,
as
it
gives
a
very
accurate
overview.
So
we
copy
that
piece
of
text
in
relation
to
meta
description,
lead.
We
try,
as
often
as
we
can
to
keep
it
to
150
to
160
characters
in
length,
because
if
you
go
beyond
this,
google
tends
to
cut
off
the
rest
of
it.
So
we
need
to
keep
a
complete
description
within
this
character
length.
A
If
possible,
so
in
order
to
implement
this
as
our
new
meta
description,
the
process
is
very
straightforward
and
the
exact
same
as
what
you
would
do
for
implementing
a
new
title
tag.
We
go
down
to
the
web
ide,
which
gives
us
access
to
the
back
matter
of
the
page
on
the
header
element
of
the
page.
We
will
see
here
we
go,
we
have
our
title
tag,
so
that's
the
other
element,
that's
shown
in
the
search
results,
but
we
don't
see
anything
for
meta
description.
A
A
Also
very
important
to
use
a
lowercase
d
when
typing
description
so
put
in
your
colon
space,
the
same
format
as
we
see
in
the
title
tag
above
so
we
put
in
our
quotation,
marks
copy
and
paste
in
the
piece
of
content
that
we
want
to
be
delivered.
As
the
meta
description,
close
quotation
marks
and
hey
presto.
We
now
have
input
a
unique
meta
description
that
will
be
delivered
as
an
element
of
the
search
results
when
someone
searches
for
this
type
of
page,
and
this
is
delivered
in
the
results.
