It's
a
great
way
to
share

kind

keep
revisiting

we

kind

think
about

really
hear

all

you
how
you're,
using
I,

lab

teaching
them
learning
and
doing
research
at
your
your
various
educational
institutions.
So,
as
John
mentioned,
we
are
one
of
the
world's
largest
remote
companies.
We
have
over
a
thousand
employees
and
300
plus
cuts
so
in
67
locations,
and
we
don't
actually
have
a
physical
office.

Some
of
you
who
are
more
familiar
us
may
know
that,
but
we
all
work
remotely,
whether
that's
all
probably
right
now
at
home,
that
sometimes
we
work
from
you
know,
group
workplaces
or
the
library
or
coffee
shops
or
whatever
it
is
that
we
want
to
be
and
I
think.
It's
really
important
to
note
that
we
have
3,000
contributors.
You'll
see
this
number
pop
up
again
a
couple
times
through
all
the
presentation,
but
that
is
really
amazing.

people
who
have
have
contributed
to
our
platform
and
that's
one
of
the
really
exciting
things
it
really
speaks
to
how

important
our
mission
is
of
our
part

what
our
company
does.

that

team

programs
that
we
run
here
and
unfortunately,
I
don't

talk
about
all
of
them.
So
I'm
going
to
talk
about
the
contributor
program
in
the
evangelist
program,
but
I
do
want
to
make
sure
that
you're
all
aware
that
we
do
have
an
open
source
program.

to
a
lot
of
students
to
ghosts.
You
know
start
companies
and
they're
open
source,
and
so
we
do
offer
open
source
licenses
as
well
and
I'm,
going
to
take
a

see
if
I
think
we

If

Think
that's
a
key
part
of
learning,
while
you're
at
an
institution
or
teaching,
is
to
really
think
about
how
your
work
and
what
you're
learning
contribute
to
some
some
greater
thing
and
that's
that's
a
really
exciting
part
of
what
the
platform
is
really
set
up
to.
Do.
We
foster
a
culture
leadership.
We
amplify
our
outreach
with
evangelist.
We
connect
with
our
community
with
experts,
you
work,
I,
get
lab
and
are
also
in
the
community
themselves,
and
then
we
really
take
a
lot
of
time
and
thought
into
recognizing
our
contributors.

So
just
to
take
a
look,
quick
look
at
the
numbers
again,
like
I
mentioned,
we
have
a
very
large.
We
have
a
very
large
community
of
millions
of
users
over
3,000
code
contributors.
There's
a
lot
of
stats.
There
I'm
not
going
to
go
all
the
way
through
them,
but
we
did
hit
two
really
cool
milestones.
This
past
quarter,
three
thousand
code
contributions
and
ten
thousand
plus
on
Meetup
contributors
over
23
countries,
and
that's
one
of
the
things
I
wanted
to
highlight
today
is
that
this
is
a
virtual
Meetup.

But
what
we
love
would
love
to
see
is
all
of
you
hosting
meetups
with
your
community,
and
we
can
join
and
bring
speakers
and
really
kind
of
start
that
conversation
and
just
provide
another
avenue
for
people
to
connect,
connect
and
learn,
and
then
we'll
talk
about
this
a
little
bit
as
well.
We
have
one
point:
seven,
six
million
seats
that
we've
issued
through
the
education
program
here,
I
get
lab
to
over
700
700
different
institutions.

So
it's
quite
a
large
program
and
with
the
the
spirit
of
a
minimal
value,
ball
change,
it
was
a
minimal,
viable
program,
started
back
in
2018
and
really
run
by
the
advocates
and
I
came
on
board
a
November
to
help
grow
the
program
and
start
providing
more
resources
and
connecting
with
the
communities.
So
we're
just
kind
of
on
the
cusp
of
that,
and
that's
the
reasons
why
we're
kicking
this
off
today
is
to
kind
of
start
hearing
from
you
about
what
what
you
need
to
be
successful
and
what
interesting
you
about.

The

I'm
just
gonna
fly
through
these
pretty
quickly
here,
just
because
I
I
want
to
get
to
the
heart
of
the
education
program,
but
I
want
to
mention
that
part
of
the
way
that
you
can
contribute
is
to
get
lab
is
through
our
code,
contributor
program
and
I
did
share
the
the
link
to
the
handbook.
I'm,
sorry
to
the
slide
show
in
the
in
the
chat,
and
all
of
these
are
links.
So
I
want
to
point
out
this
link
to
the
contributor

It
provides
a
lot
of
information
about
our
code
contributor
program
when
that
does
run
by
Ray
Paik
on
our
team
he's
off
in
San
Francisco,
and
he
does
an
amazing
job.
If
you
look
at
the
stats
here,
we've
really
grown
our
program
a
lot
and
we
see
a
lot
of
contributions
from
the
community
and
I.
Think
it's
one
of
the
things
that's
important
to
note
here
is
that
these
are
not
not
always.
You
don't
always
have
to
be
an
expert
code
builder
to
contribute.
We
have
a
lot
of
our
contributions.

Come
from
translating
our
Docs
and
some
other
languages
and
I
know.
John
may
know
how
many
languages
we
were
working
on,
but
I
know
if
you
want
to
put
it
in
the
chat
there,
but
it's
a
lot
and
also
just
finding
mistakes
in
our
documentation
or
adding
small
details.
So
there's
there's
really
there's
really
a
very
low
barrier
to
entry
into
it
and
you're
contributing
and
if
you're
a
student
out
there,
it's
an
awesome
way
to
start
building
your
professional
portfolio
and
if
you're,
you
know,
if
you're
an
educator,
it's
a
great
way
to
have.

Students
feel
like
what
they're
learning
really
relates
to
the
real
world,
because
they're
contributing
to
to
a
software
to
us
open-source
software
project
and
we
all
wore
the
swag
so
swag
is
always
cool,
especially
if
you're
university
students
or
a
high
school
student,
and
so
through
our
code
contributor
program.
We
do
a
lot
of
work
on
recognizing
and
Sam
actually
runs
our
swag
program.
So
another
shout
out
to
Sam
on
that
one.

But
obviously,
what's
on
the
the
situation
in
the
world
out
there,
today,
we've
moved
to
virtual
and
we're
finding
that
it's
a
really
cool
way
to
connect
with
people
around
the
world
that
this
is
an
in-person
meet
up.
We
wouldn't
have
all
these
awesome
countries
that
we're
seeing
I'm
here
in
the
chat
come
up
so,
but
this
is
just
a
map
of
where
we've
had
our
meetups
and
looks
like
where
we've
you
cross
this
barrier.

need

update

make

really
super

contribute

we
really

put

lot

effort

lab

recognizing
people
who
are

talk
about
is
the

the
main
focus

couple

this
bigger
picture
saying
that
we
really
want

engage
a
community
who
are
who

learning
and
teaching

researching
kind

encompasses

aspects

company

next

part

their
life
in
the
workforce,
and
then

as

mentioned,

very
beginning,
we're
really

company
evangelizing
the
benefits

working
all
remotely

we
we
have
a

hand

you're

familiar,

ultimate

education
institutions

that's
ugly

in
you

the
elementary
primary
middle
high
school
all

way

community
colleges,
technical

are
all
part
of
that
span
for
the
purposes
of
teaching,
learning

So
that
is
the
kind

the
big
differentiator
there.
If
you

to

is
a
dashboard
that
are
amazing
data
team.
It
has
put
together
for
us
just
kind
of
showing
how
the
program
has
grown
over
time.
So
we
had
a
lot
of
enrollment
very
early
on
in
the
program
we've
kind
of
leveled
off
a
little
bit
in
terms
of
new
enrollment,
but
we've
got
you
know,
hovering
around
500
different
active
institutions
and
1.76
million
seats
that
have
been
issued,
and
so
it
is
a
fairly
large
program
and
again
up
till
now,
we've
really
just
been
issuing
licenses.

But
we're
excited
to
bring
it
to
a
new
chapter
where
we
really
want
to
I'm
certain
engaging
with
all
of
you
and
hearing
all
the
exciting
things
that
you're
doing
with
the
software
with
the
software
platform,
which
brings
us

next

had
a
chance
to
speak
with
some
of
the
users
and
hear
their
stories
and
I
think
there's
there's
kind
of
three
different
areas,
so
this
may
be
of
interest
to
those
of
you
who
are
thinking
about.

How
can
you
use
gitlab
in
education
and
I
think
it
fits
into
these
three
different
buckets
here:
open
science
and
research?
So
there's
a
lot
of
interesting
work
out
there
on
how
it
can
be
used
to
manage
scientific
data
in
publications
using
continuous
integration
for
analytical
workflows.
The
one
thing
that's
really
interesting
is
containerization
or
reproducibility
and
versioning,
reproducing
your
your
results,
with
with
specific
environments
that
are
controlled
and
then
version
analysis,
which
is
really
important
and
scientific
research
and
then
collaborating
so
speeding
up
the
time.

If
any
of
you
have
worked
on
publications,
you
know
that
it
can
take
a
long
time
to
collaborate
with
your
on
with
other
people
on
your
research
team
and
get
the
get
out
the
door.
So
we've
seen
that
the
platform
internally
has
really
helped
us
to
get
things
out
faster,
so
I
think
there's
a
there's,
a
use
case
there
and
then
just
the
learning
of
computer
science
and
an
open
source
or
anything
from
the
basics
of
coding.

we'd
love
to
hear
a
little
bit
more
about
that,
and

we've
seen

exciting
uses
of
students
using

accounts
to
showcase
their
code,
be
it's
code
that
they've
written
they
can
contribute

program

contributor
program

to
other
projects.
It's
a
great
way
to
showcase
how
you
collaborate,
you
can
host
your
blog
posts
and
also
I
think
for
for
credibility.

want

make
sure
that
everyone's
aware
that
you
can
go
to
forum,

use
the
same

that
you've
that
you've

with

your

and
have
access

the

there's

and
answers
about
the
platform.
We
notice
that
a
lot
of
universities
don't
buy
the
support,
so
the
community-based
support
is
a
great
way
to
get
some
of
your
questions,
answered
and
share,
use
cases
and
ideas
and
we're
just
launching

education

commonalities,

how
these
different
institutions
are
using
gitlab
like
any
kind

themes
that
maybe
seem

be
a
great
place
for
educational
institutions
to
start
as
they
adopt
get
lab
in
their
education
and
research
and
research.

Interestingly
enough,
we've
seen
quite
a
few
universities,
especially
in
the
European
regions,
using
it
to
manage
their
research
infrastructure.
So
a
lot
of
universities
have
code
that
they're
storing
for
various
research
projects
and
obviously
because
it's
there
they're
using
that
code
to
run
analysis
on
scientific
data
sets.

They
really
need
to
to
make
sure
you
know
that
it's
that
it's
secure,
it's
reliable,
its
accessible
and
it's
run
in
a
repeatable
fashion,
and
so
by
storing
the
scientific
data
in
in
get
lab
and
then
using
those
CI
CD
features
to
run
it
and
also
make
it
available
to
other
people
in
the
research
groups
across
campus
to
students,
in
fact
LT
Insaf.
It's
it's
really
really
an
interesting
new

would
