From YouTube: GitLab Developer Evangelism Overview - January 2023
Description
Overview of GitLab's Developer Evangelism team to help with preparation for the Marketing Functional Call.
A
Hey
everyone:
my
name
is
John
Coughlin
I'm,
a
long
time
member
of
the
community
relations
team
here
at
gitlab,
currently
leading
our
developer
evangelism
team
and
I'm,
going
to
take
a
few
minutes
to
give
you
an
overview
of
our
team
and
how
you
can
work
with
us,
so
developer
evangelism,
you
know
typically
focuses
on
what
I
call
the
three
C's.
So
the
first
C
is
content
creation,
so
I
could
be
writing
blog
posts,
preparing
presentations
and
delivering
them
at
events.
A
Crafting
demos
supporting
you
know,
different
activations
that
we're
doing
in
events
and
just
generally
kind
of
creating
content
that
engages
educates
our
community
and
you
know
we're
focused
really
on,
like
the
awareness
kind
of
of
git
lab
and
generating
awareness
of
gitlab
through
our
thought
leadership.
When
we're
doing
this
content
creation.
A
The
second
C
is
community
engagement,
so
gitlab's
a
very
popular
product
used
by
millions
of
developers,
and
so
you
can
imagine,
there's
lots
of
discussion
around
gitlab,
both
good
and
bad
happening,
all
over
the
Internet,
whether
it's
Hacker
News
Reddit,
our
Forum
gitlab
issues,
Twitter
other
social
media
sites,
and
so
our
team
actively
kind
of
monitors.
A
You
know
comments
that
may
violate
the
gitlab,
go
to
conduct
or
even
enforcing
that
code
of
conduct
at
times,
and
so
that's
the
community
engagement
piece
and
then
the
last
kind
of
see
is
Consulting,
and
so,
when
our
teams,
whether
it's
product,
the
pricing
team,
sometimes
our
partnership
marketing,
are
preparing.
You
know,
announcements
that
we
expect
will
elicit
a
strong
response
from
our
community.
A
The
developer
evangelism
team,
the
community
relations
team,
will
jump
in
and
kind
of
help,
consult
and
ensure
that
we're
thinking
through
how
the
community
you
know
might
respond
and
and
ways
that
we
can
improve
our
message
to
reduce.
You
know
the
impact
of
that
you
know
reaction
and
so
we're
really
serving
as
like
the
voice
of
the
community
within
git
lab.
In
those
circumstances,
another
part
of
our
team,
which
is
led
by
Jamie
Rochelle,
is
the
Evangelist
programs.
So
these
are
programs
that
enable
our
community
to
become
evangelists
forget
lab.
A
One
of
those
programs
is
get
land
meetups
program,
so
The
Meadows
program
provides
support
and
resources
to
meet
up
organizers
who
are
organizing
gitlab.
You
know
events
in
their
local
communities.
Many
of
them
have
been
virtual
for
the
last
few
years,
but
we're
starting
to
see
in-person
events
come
back
a
little
bit
and
then
we
also
have
our
heroes
program
and
the
gitlab
heroes
program,
kind
of
recognizes,
supports
and
incentivizes
our
top
Community
contributors,
so
we'll
provide
them
with
information.
A
Swag
access
to
our
team,
you
know,
and
other
kind
of
incentives
to
keep
them
engaged,
keep
them
contributing
over
the
long
term
and
heroes
tend
to
be
our
most
active
code,
contributors
or
people
who
are
writing
blog
posts
about
us,
Meetup
organizers.
You
know
Forum
Champions,
you
know
all
the
different
ways
that
you
can
kind
of
contribute
in
the
community
make
you
eligible
for
that,
so
how
to
engage
with
our
team.
A
If
you
want
to
partner
with
our
team
on,
you
know
some
work
or
some
events
or
blog
posts,
you
can
check
out
our
handbook
page.
So
if
you
search
gitlab,
developer,
evangelism
handbook
you'll
find
that
page
and
near
the
top
of
that
page.
There's
a
section
that
says
want
to
work
with
the
team
and
you
can
click
that
request
or
one
of
those
two
requests
buttons
and
that
will
bring
you
to
an
issue
template
that
will
get.
A
You
started
and
collaborating
with
our
team,
and
if
you
just
want
to
have
a
chat
or
hang
out,
you
can
always
check
out
our
slack
Channel
developer.
Dash
evangelism.
Our
team
is
always
there
and
chatty.
So
would
love
to
have
you
drop
by
with
any
questions
that
you
might
have
thanks
very
much.
It
was
great
talking
with
you
today
and
good
luck
in
the
coming
fiscal
year.
Thanks.
