From YouTube: Walkthrough: Import from GitHub into GitLab 14.8
Description
Haris Delalić from the Import Team walks through another migration from GitHub into GitLab.
A
So
this
is
the
look
at
my
github
account
that
I
have
created
for
the
purpose
of
playing
with
the
migration.
Here
I
have
created
two
repositories,
one
for
the
website
and
one
for
the
backend.
A
These
repositories
have
several
files
in
them
a
couple
of
issues
each
some
with
labels,
some
without
I,
I
also
have
created
two
different
projects
which
have
boards
associated
with
those.
A
A
So
the
project
has
two
people
associated
with
it,
and
there
are
also
four
teams
associated
with
project
one
of
them.
The
team
avengers
is
connected
to
the
website
repository.
A
A
A
And
so
noticing
that
the
default
on
the
2-git
lab
the
default
group
that
I
was
importing
into
was
my
overall,
my
personal
namespace
and
not
the
project,
not
the
group
that
I
have
selected
a
new
project
from
so
that's
something
that
you
know
I
would
have
expected.
A
I
would
have
thought
that
if
I
was
on
the
github
import
group-
and
I
clicked
new
project
there-
that
I
would
end
up
importing
into
that
group
by
the
time
I
got
here,
but
that
seems
to
have
gotten
lost
and
I
had
to
like
reselect
the
fact
that
I
wanted
to
get
to
migrate
these
projects
into
the
github
import
group
and
not
into
my
personal
namespace.
A
So
that
is
definitely
an
area
for
improvement.
So
it
seems
like
this
user
interface
does
not.
Let
me
select
a
subset
of
imports
to
to
run
so
if
there
were
some
imports
that
I
wanted
to
run
and
some
that
I
didn't,
I
wouldn't
have
a
way
of
kicking
off
both
of
those
at
the
same
time.
Now
that
I've
actually
narrowed
this
down
to
the
two
that
I
care
about,
it
seems
like
like
I
could
hit
the
import
to
repositories,
button
and
import
button.
A
A
I
noticed
that
the
status
for
each
one
of
these
went
to
scheduling
and
then
to
importing,
and
I
wonder
how
long
it
does
take
to
import
these.
These
are
not
large
projects,
so
is
it
possible
that
the
imports
have
completed-
and
I
just
don't
have
a
real
time
status
here-
to
check
that
I
will
refresh
the
page
to
see
if
that's
something
yep
and
that's
exactly
what
had
happened.
A
A
A
So
that's
there
what
I
now
looking
at
the
group
itself.
A
A
My
name
spacing
github
has
two
repositories
and
four
teams.
A
A
Maybe
flatten
the
data
a
little
bit
and
still
get
these
teams
imported
as
groups,
even
if
they're
not
necessarily
connected
to
the
repositories
in
gitlab.
So
maybe
these
teams
become
subgroups
and
the
two
repositories
become
two
sub-projects
under
the
group
I'm
importing
into,
but
there
may
not
be
necessarily
a
relationship
that
exists
in
github
translated
into
gitlab,
so
that
could
be
a
potential
solution.
A
So
at
least
we
have
all
the
components
there
in
gitlab,
even
if
they're
not
connected
in
the
same
way
that
they
are
in
github
other
than
that,
it
seems
like
everything
else
has
come
across.
A
A
Few
ui
issues
that
we're
gonna
have
to
follow
up
on
and
see
why
that
status
hasn't
refreshed
as
well
as
looking
into
how
we
would
potentially
map
teams
to
gitlab
those
are
going
to
be
things
that
we'll
need
to
follow
up
on,
but
overall,
pretty
smooth
and
fast
experience
importing
from
github
into
gitlab.
