been
at
get
lab
for
almost
four
years
now
before
years
in
october,
which
is

an
eternity

startup
years.

a

you

started
in
more
of
a
traditional

break
fix
kind

system,
admin,
sort
of
role,
but
then
I
spent

long
time
in
software
and
medical
software,
which
is
really
interesting.
It's
a

interesting
field
of
a
branch
of
software
development,
a
lot
of
like
heavy
requirements
on
not
getting
things
wrong,
as
you
can
imagine,
and
did
a
couple
other
things,
and
then
I
was
a
gitlab
user
for
a
long
time.

for
a
time,
and
then
I
had
a
friend.

I
was
a
user
and
then
I
had
a
friend
who
was
getting
recruited
to
gitlab
and
told
me
to
check
it
out,
and
I
was
like
oh
well,
it's
probably
a
company
too.
I
should
check
it
out
and
ended
up
reading

bunch

the
handbook
we
were.
My
family
was
on
vacation
in
north
carolina
and
it
was
raining
most
of
the
time,
and
so
I
was
like
reading
the
get
lab
handbook
on
my
vacation
and
my
wife
and
my
parents
were
really
like
tired
of
hearing.

and
so
then
yeah
I
came
to
get
lab,
I've
been
in
a
couple
different
roles.
Here
I
spent
time
in
professional
services,
I
kind
of
started
our
services
group.
I've
spent
time
in
our
product
group,
and
then
I
became
an
evangelist
kind
of
for
the
same
reason.

were
in
a
way.
Chloe
conan
was
a
huge
inspiration
to
me
too,
along
with
like
kelsey
hightower,
and
these
other
folks
that
you
see
out
there
and
I
met
chloe
for
the
first
time
in
person.

advocate

the

there

stuff

use
that

springboard

concept

building
inclusively,

silly

it

part

my
identity

it'd
be
nice.

acknowledged

didn't
invalidate
it

sometimes
they
literally
say
your
name
is
invalid
and
I'm
like

there's

lot
of
bigger
problems.
You
know
about
accessibility
in
tech
even
than
that.
Like
again,
I
can
work
around
it,
but
a
lot
of
folks
can't
work
around
like
someone
who's
differently.
Abled
or
you
know,
has
you
know
a
hard
time
seeing
or
hearing
like
they
can't
work
around
things
that
are
audio
only
or
visual?
Only
and
and
so
talk
a
little
bit
about
that,
because
it's
there's
a
lot
of
very
easy
ways
to
make
what
we're
building
more
accessible
and
then
there's
also.

know
this
kind
of
building
with
versus
building
four
people.
So
I
talk

that.

I've
been
giving
you
know
when
you
build
four
people,
it's
nice,
because
you
can,
you
know
accommodate
them
right,
like
I
talk
about
how
the
a

americans
with
disabilities
requires.
Accommodations
like
it
requires,
you
to,
you
know,
have
a
ramp
for
someone
to
use
a
wheelchair
to
get
into
a
building,
but
you
know
a
lot
of
times.

That's
like
some
other
entrance
right
and
you
you've
other
than
people
that
have
to
use
that
entrance,
and
so
I
think
it's
really
critical
to
not
just
build
for
people
but
build
with
people
and
if
you're
building
with
those
people,
they
probably
say
well,
let's
just
make
the
front
door
flat
with
the
outside,
so
you
can
just
go
in
no
matter
how
you're
you're,
mobile
and
so
yeah.

about
that
on
a
lot
of
other
things
in
this

and
I've
tried
to
build
this
like
set
of
resources.

folks
can

you
can
easily
add.
You

thought
behind
accessibility
and
inclusiveness
when
you're
building
software,
because
it's
it's

I
said
it's
problems
that
are
solved,
but
it's
normally
ones
that
people
back
burner

you

put
a
little
effort
in
you
can
you
can
solve
them
with
with
a
kind
of
like
known
solutions.

idea

building

is
so
important
because
when
you've
got

voice
in
the
room,
you

to
listen
as
opposed
to
creating
something
you've

a
product.

you're
ready
to
ship
it,

a
group
of
people,
and
you
say:
hey:
does
this
affect
you
and
they're
like
yeah?
How
did
you-
and
so
that's
that's
another
argument
for
diversity
and
hiring
and
diversity
of
thought
in
in
all
of
tech.
