From YouTube: Docs Site Survey Report 2022
A
So
a
little
bit
of
background,
the
docs.gitlab.com
contains
some
of
the
most
visited
gitlab
web
pages
and
over
the
last
three
years,
we've
conducted
surveys
each
year
on
the
same
questions
asking
for
our
visitors.
What
are
they
looking
for?
Did
they
find
it
and
if
they
had
pain
points,
so
we
can
provide
effective
and
findable
documentation,
content
and
this
year
we're
especially
focusing
on
the
trends
over
time
from
the
last
several
years,
using
the
quantitative
survey,
and
this
year
we
had
750,
total
or
757
total
sample
size.
A
People
participants
in
the
survey
going
from
August
3rd
to
September,
2nd
most
of
the
previous
or
all
previous
surveys
were
also
in
a
similar
time
frame
in
Fall
of
each
of
their
years
as
well.
So,
let's
get
into
it.
B
B
B
We've
made
a
lot
of
small
search
improvements
and
we
have
added
a
tutorials
page
for
newcomers
to
help
onboard
we've
done
a
lot
of
other
changes
and
we
are
very
interested
to
see
how
we're
doing
in
this
third
year
survey.
A
Okay
and
some
of
the
findings,
the
executive
findings
that
we
found
from
this
survey
was
that
perceived
usefulness
of
the
doc
site
does
remain
high
over
90
percent,
which
is
quite
good,
and
that's
even
considering
the
percentage
of
new
to
gitlab
and
first-time
Dockside
users
continue
to
grow
sharply
for
both
so
we're
seeing
a
lot
more
new
gitlab
users
and
new
docsite
users.
But
the
perceived
usefulness
does
still
remain
to
be
high,
which
is
great.
The
percent
of
Doc
site
users
total
is
growing
or
sorry.
A
The
percent
of
daily
doc
site
users
is
growing
at
an
average
rate
of
three
percent,
which
is
quite
good,
considering
the
fact
that
each
of
those
users
do
have
to
visit
the
doc
site
every
single
day
to
be
in
this
cohort,
and
it
takes
a
little
while
to
be
in
that
group.
Just
over
half
of
the
visitors
were
looking
for
instructions
or
looking
for
a
page
for
reference
or
troubleshooting
info
as
classified
by
the
doc
site.
A
This
is
content
that
is
similar
to
previous
years
in
terms
of
what
people
are
looking
for,
but
we
do
get
a
little
bit
more
information
as
well,
and
we
can
see
also
that
the
other
category
for
what
people
are
looking
for
is
increased,
which
we
can
see
later.
A
growing
percent
of
visitors
are
also
looking
for
information
about
new
features
and
about
breaking
changes
for
those
new
features
which
is
important
while
the
percent
of
people
looking
for
admin,
resources
remains
about
the
same.
A
Findability,
though,
is
getting
worse,
with
45
percent
of
our
visitors,
saying
that
they
did
not
find
what
they're
looking
for,
which
is
up
from
last
year
and
the
year
before.
So
that's
definitely
something
that
we
want
to
address
with
future
research
and
future
changes
to
the
doc
site.
A
So
a
little
bit
about
our
readers,
just
over
half
or
about
half
of
the
visitors,
have
used
gitlab
for
six
months
or
less
that's
an
increase
over
36
percent
new
users
from
2021
and
22
percent
from
2022.
So
that
is
a
sizable
number
and
we
can
see
it
is
growing
significantly
each
year
and
we
can
also
see
that
first
time
in
Daily
user
is
also
increasing.
A
You
can
see
that
daily
users
increase
from
13
to
16
from
2022
to
or
from
2020
to
2022,
but
we
can
also
see
that
first
time
users
are
increased
more
than
double
from
2020,
which
is
quite
quite
astounding
honestly,
and
we
can
see
what
is
not
working
well,
we
see
that
45
of
our
visitors
were
unable
to
find
what
they
were
looking
for,
which
means
that
55
of
our
visitors
were
able
to
find,
which
is
a
decrease
compared
to
67
percent
last
year,
and
that
was
a
decrease
compared
to
75
in
2020,
so
not
a
very
good
Trend
from
what
we're
seeing
with
the
data.
A
B
We
have
a
couple
of
hypotheses
about
why
the
find
ability
is
reducing.
We
keep
adding
significant
amounts
of
feature-based
content,
where
our
primary
emphasis
is
on
speed.
We
have
doubled
the
word
count
of
the
site
in
the
past
two
years.
B
We
think
perhaps,
that
Rising
percentages
of
new
git
lab
users,
as
well
as
the
new
Doc
site
users,
might
not
understand
the
gitlab
terminology
and
capabilities,
as
well
as
people
who
have
used
those
the
product
and
the
site
for
longer,
and
we
continue
to
do
refactoring
work
on
the
content
to
make
it
more
readable
and
scannable,
but
we're
only
50
percent
complete
for
part
of
the
doc
site
for
the
using
gitlab
pages.
So
we
are
looking
forward
to
additional
research
to
learn
a
little
bit
more.
A
We
can
also
look
to
see
what
is
working.
Well,
though,
thankfully
we
did
see
that
perceived
usefulness,
increased
for
frequent
users
and
it
remained
High
across
the
board
across
all
categories,
was
more
than
90
percent
of
perceived
usefulness,
which
is
obviously
very
high
and
is
really
nice
to
see,
because
actually,
a
good
chunk
of
those
groups
increased
from
2020,
which
is
really
nice.
A
Okay,
so
to
talk
about
what
we're
going
to
be
doing
next,
with
this
data
that
we
got
Susan,
you
can
talk
about
the
doc
sites
plans
for
what's
next.
B
Sure
so,
at
a
very
high
level,
we're
going
to
continue
refactoring
for
topic
types
that
helps
with
organization
and
navigation,
we're
going
to
improve
the
doc
site
search
experience,
because
we
believe
that
that
will
help
with
findability,
and
we
will
continue
adding
tutorial
information
to
help
the
growing
number
of
new
users.
We
believe
that
that
will
help
them
gain
confidence.
A
Foreign
for
the
first
time,
we're
actually
going
to
be
doing
some
new
research
with
the
technical
writing
team
to
get
more
understanding.
So
we
first
want
to
understand
how
users
arrive
to
the
doc
site.
We
also
want
to
understand
what
sort
of
users
what
personas
there
they
are
and
in
what
capacity,
and
we
also
want
to
understand
how
they're
navigating
inside
the
doc
site
and
to
do
that
we're
going
to
use
a
variety
of
methods
over
the
next
couple
of
quarters
all
right.
Thank
you
very
much
for
listening
and
watching.
A
If
you
have
any
questions,
please
feel
free
to
reply
in
the
slack
message
and
if
you're
interested
in
the
previous
data
feel
free
to
look
at
the
appendix
to
look
at
the
presentations
in
the
surveys.
Thank
you
very
much.
Awesome.
