2018 was the year of Identity. Governments started developing blockchain-based national ID systems, banks started looking at KYC, healthcare industry dived into Electronic Healthcare records. It is now time to take a step back and ask: Where are we with Identity? This panel will look at the work of building the network, how it's governed, and the role of open source ledger code in its success. We will look at common use cases and impact digital identity can have on the developing world, from refugees and disaster victims to programs that have a global impact. We will discuss how self-sovereign identity can improve the KYC process, allowing any user to reuse his previously verified credential for multiple authentications. But lets also see where can we find interesting applications of identity - like e-commerce.

the

blockchain
allows
identity
to
be
decentralized
and
managed
in
a
decentralized
fashion
and

through
that
first
thing

turns

into

asset

it

with
it's
a
formula
to
monetize
and
the
what
a
blockchain
does
best
a
blockchain
validates
certificates

the
identity
schemas
that
you
can
lay
across
a
transactional
blockchain.

monetization
scheme
for
which
certificates
gets
validated
alright.

someone's
name

email
address,

not
charge
of
anything,

if

validate
their
kyc
or
US
accredited
investor
status,
I

charge
them
a
grant
just
to
validate
that
certificate

schema
that
you
become
a
part
of
right.
So
that's
a
monetization
scheme
and
we
see
a
lot
of
block
chains
that
are
out
there
with
great
ideas
but
kind
of
not
quite
getting
the
commercial
benefits
that
it

get
the
adoption
that
they
need.

building,
particularly
in

never
been
good

an

has

identity

everybody

even

large
organizations,

systems

work
together
in
that
regard

think
that
the
reason
this
is
the
year
is
because
people
have
now
comprehended
what
it
is
that
we're
really
moving
to
an
identity,

management

self
sovereign
identity
management

landscape
that

have

do
you
see
changing?

slippery
slope,
fallacy,
that's
being
perpetrated!

to
stop
adoption
right,

Think
it's
easier
and
better
and
simpler
to
do
a
lot
of
things.
You

using
cryptology
and
using
things
like
sovereign
identity

think
it.
What
we're
gonna
see
is
some
of
these.
You

some
of
the
good
bank
switchover
and
some
of
the
other
ones
forced
into
a
corner
right,

I

see.

adoption
coming
with
with
with
carrots

sticks

2019

broadening

definition
of
identity

not
just
a
name
and
access
to
this
system,
because

you've

access
to
the
ERP
system,
but
you
don't
have
access

HR
system

have
an
identity
that
needs
to
be
managed
and
interacted
with
devices

particular

more

when

applications

consumers
are

aware
of

connected
to
their
identity

it's
used

misused.

adoption

that
adoption
is

number
one
limiting
reagent
to
every
blockchain
equation

it

that
makes

better

cheaper,

efficient

see
that
with

fantastic
crime

to
get
religious
about
things

they
like

were
religious,

there
are
other
organizations,
besides

are
working
very
hard

blockchain
identity
space.

keep

little

eye
on
them,
but
not
near
as
much
as
I
do
with
sovereign,
so
I'm
interested
in
the
providers
of
blockchain
digital
identity.

there's

lot
of
different
aspects
and
components
to
that
right,
but
I
think
you
know
that's
one
of
the
thing
I
mean
I
already
complained:
I've
got
a
driver's
license.
I
got

state.

passport.
I
got
to
do
with
the
federal
government.
I
got
an
identity
with
the
airline.
I
got
an
identity
with
the
Car
Rental
I
mean
I've
got
too
many
identities
right.
So
our
approach,
my
thought,
is
those
are
just
different
aspects
of
my
identity.

might
still
manage
them
separately
under
certain
circumstances,
but
I
still
want
them
to
be
coordinated
under
my
identity,
but
I
can
probably
understand
your
question
as
well.
There's
probably
a
little
bit
of
risk
to
that
as
well
when
it
everything's,
even
though
it's
under
my
control,
it's
still
in
one
place.
That
makes
it
a
little
bit
riskier.
But
my
answer
is:
yes:
I
believe
there
should
only
be
one
with
a
lot
of
different.
You
know
sub
components
and
subcategories
to
that
now.

within
an
organization,

have
a
different
persona

you're

to

or
when

acting
on
behalf
of
the
organization

you're
with
as
opposed
to
when

different
sides
of

They
have
different
needs.
They
have
different
ways:

need
to
be
managed

operated,
but
they're
not
two
separate
things,

it

identity
can
see
that

this
is
two
sides
of
the
same
person,
organization
or
thing
and

how
what
you

be
achieved
in
a
distributed?

technology

blockchain
application,
where
basically,
where
there
is
no
central
authority.

that's

where
sovereign
comes
in

they
they
allow
that
to
be
managed,

they're
still,
you

belief
is
that
a
lot
of
people
except
my
mother,

we've
heard
some
of
this
with

sovereign
conversations
before
they
actually
don't
want.
They
want
the
centralized
management

They
don't
want
to
keep
up
with
their
own
wallets.

a
lot
of
people

think
out
there.

happy
with
that,
as

as
they
trust

because
still
we've
heard
all

horror
stories
about
people
lost
millions
of
Bitcoin
because
they
lost
their
private
keys.
Granted
sovereign
has
a
recovery
mechanism

things

that.
But
then
again,
if
my
mom
even
goes
so
far
as
to
get
that
personally
and
try
to
run
a
sovereign
wallet
and
then
she
loses
the
you
know,
it's
still
gonna
be
quite
difficult
for
a
lot
of
those
people.
So
I
think
that's
really.

we
have
to
do
is
provide
the
capabilities
for
those
of
us
that
don't
want
to
have
anything
to
do
with
the
central
authority
right
with
a
lot
of
people
that
are
perfectly
fine.
With
a
lot,
in
fact,
they
want
that
because
they're

not
gonna,
do
it
themselves,
I
think
it's
the
providing
those
capabilities
across
the
spectrum.
That's
going
to
be
key
to
that.

players

market

get
your
identity,
but
then
you

it

but
nobody
actually
has
that
identity
mechanism

centrally
compete

Facebook

building

on
a
common
standard

lacking
adoption
in

is

kind

legacy
infrastructure

they
currently
have
a
bigger
adoption
news
base

see

that

will
see
seismic
shifts
in

of
those
areas
because
of
things
that
are
difficult
to
protect.

imagine

scenario

there's
a

dollar
collapse

overexposure
to
debt
and
other
circumstances

might
see

lot
of
dependency
leave
the
current
established
banking

other

then

something
like
a

comes
along

makes

land
grab
and
all
of
a
sudden
we're
in
a
completely
different
world
and
people
are
using
different
apps.

adoption
of
masses
to
things

just

everything

happens
quite
quickly

so
I
think
it's
a
it's
a
matter
of

prepared

ready
and
then
have
those
things

common

expect
the
legacy
architecture

last

inherent

weaknesses

single
center
party,
single
central
counterparty
identity
providers.

think
microtransactions

particularly
important
in

that
if

website

People's
natural
reaction
is
no
right,

they
say
well,

we'll
give
you
so
many
tokens,

many
francs

understand

means

take
full
control

own
data
and
what
it
means

receive

that

my

to

it

recover

would
be
so
much
easier
than

else

I

worry.
If
the

lady
finds
my
bitcoins
or
not
right,
but
but
in
this

you

doesn't
exist

unique
biometrics
isn't
strong
enough
at
the
moment.

they
want

look
at
what
it
is
that
they
need
and
does
the
hotel
or
law
enforcement
really
care
about.

state

in
probably

where
you're
seeing
advancement
of
zero
knowledge,
proof

sharing
identity
and
I
think
that
you
know
whether
its
sovereign
or
others
come.
You
know
that's
something
that
we've
made
a
lot
of
headway
on,
because,
ultimately
do
they
really
want
my

from
ten
years
ago?

want

ten

ago
you

time

good

me

we
want
to
make
sure
that
they
get
exactly
what
they
need
and
we
only
provide
them.

required

we're

wondering

to

stuck
with

credentials
turn
out
to
be
